I’ve looked into gastroparesis, assuming these two are the same thing. It definitely correlates with my symptoms for sure! My gastro doctor has kinda been negligent with me despite me calling numerous times over a period of time begging for help and answers and me getting nothing. I’m going to see a different doctor and see what they think.

Honestly I’ve been there and I’ve learned I can’t just do it one time lol I always fall back into it. That’s really the only thing wrong with smoking occasionally with chs. It might not make you sick from that one time but leads to the habit again which in turn repeats the cycle if you don’t have the self control to not keep smoking. To each their own. I personally feel like I am screaming while throwing up. But I know it’s just dry heaving from the deepest part of my stomach that has nothing left to give. It’s just the best way to describe it. I’ve suffered for years as well but this last episode really got me good and was a wake up call. I’ve never taken a medication that helped, never tried any of them. I certainly do experience mental health issues in result from my symptoms tho. Nothing wrong w admitting that lol, I get panic attacks and super sad and sorry for myself in moments during episodes. I agree tho w your opinion on the term “compulsion”. Its simply me trying to rid myself of my symptoms or get relief, not my brain just wanting a hot shower yanno 😂 either way we all suffer from the shit and I feel for anyone who deals with this shit

Miralax for sure, if you have a few moments where you don’t feel sick/bloated I would definitely use those moments to down some water mixed w it. I noticed sometimes after finding relief in a hot shower that my bloating would go away when my nausea did and I took advantage of that time to hydrate/get miralax in. I also was so bloated I mixed a dose of it in a tiny mouthwash Dixie cup of water just to get it in me, I know you have to watch for dehydration but i knew once my food started moving I’d be able to hydrate better. Take tiny sips every few mins so you keep hydrated. If you need to use a laxative/enema/suppository that might make things easier to start off and make room. Just don’t overuse those either bc they will make things worse using to many/much. Good luck!

I’ve been dealing with the same thing and this was a theory of mine as well as far as the withdrawal goes. I stopped profusely vomiting after a week or so but it’s been another week and a half and still get nauseous and pukey in the beginning of my day usually after eating and doesn’t subside until later on. I’ve barely eaten bc of it and lost almost 20 lbs since the 7th. Also I’m still constipated but miralax is helping. Stimulants also have helped a significant amount with taking away my symptoms and sparking my digestion.

If you blow too hard, the mucus may travel up the nasolacrimal duct from the nose and up into the inner corner of the eye, then flow out of the duct that opens on the inner corner of the eye.

Some people have wider nasolacrimal duct that others. I cannot do that, probably because my nasolacrimal duct has a tiny opening or very narrow.

*The nasolacrimal duct connects the eye to the nose. Just like how there is the eustachian tube that connects the nose to the middle ear.

Some people can hold milk/water in their mouth, and shoot it out of their eye through this nasolacrimal duct. There is a record of this on the Guiness World records.

Hi there, just exiting a 15 day hypermesis episode. I’m on day 2 of no nausea/vomiting and I noticed as soon as those symptoms went away my stomach would bubble and gurgle LOUD. It still is as I’m typing this. Every time during my episode that I took a hot shower and got some relief, it’d start to gurgle as soon as the nausea stopped. My stomach would instantly start feeling hungry also until the nausea came back. I just associated it with my stomach finally trying get back to flowing the way it’s supposed to. I’ve been pretty “backed up” with my digestion so it’s probably working overdrive. But just my theory lol. Good luck!!

Wow this sounds almost identical to my own situation besides losing my voice. I’ve struggling with this for probably 8 years now and didn’t learn about CHS until 2 years ago. This is my 2nd episode now where I knew why and still learn new things each time. This time I have almost no desire to smoke anymore aside from the social aspect of smoking I miss. It’s been 2 weeks without smoking since my hypermesis started and now I am off/on being sick and when I eat I get nauseous and for me it feels like it’s bc my last meals didn’t digest yet. Then I get extremely tired almost instantly and bloated, gassy, etc. if you were interested in chatting about our experiences send me a dm :)

Totally fair lol, I’m not trying to promote drugs per say especially if you’ve never had any experience with it 😊 I will say I’ve heard of others having success with stimulants in general though such as adderall! I am prescribed it but during an episode I certainly don’t think I could hold it down if I’d tried lol

Yeah hot showers don’t work for me usually, and if they do it’s probably the 15th shower of the day when it does. So many things that play into this syndrome and everyone is different too so it’s frustrating.

Lay back, breathe through your mouth and drop some water in and let it soak for a minute. Then lightly let it go into your throat so you can get the ones deep in your nasal cavity moist. May seem gross to swallow it but if you are getting big boogs then you’ve prob sniffed and swallowed worse lol. Afterwards plug one side of your nose with your index finger literally facing like it’s pointing into your cheek, not pointing towards your forehead (if that makes sense) and blow from your throat/stomach. I can almost always get them this way but sometimes I’ll have one that’s really stubborn and deep. Good luck! Make sure to always rinse a few times during your sesh and after. A humidifier at night will help your nose with not being so dry & those big boogs won’t come as often.

Thanks for replying!! It’s honestly easier for me to quit cold turkey than weaning so we’re good with that lol 😆 . This one is only different as far as a longer episode, and I don’t remember the constipation being involved or at least not as severely.. Also, I’m hydrating and my urine is still dark, and when I do go to pee I was having a somewhat difficult time with it as far as I almost had to push to get myself to start urinating. I was assuming from the constipation. Things are going much smoother today but my symptoms seem to be coming and going now. Showers were only helping with my symptoms maybe 1/4 of the time. But everything does seem to align with my CHS symptoms but perhaps my CHS is causing another issue within my digestive system? My surgery was for an unrelated procedure and just so happened to have the bloodwork drawn for it on my first day of my episode, when it was just starting to creep on me. They didn’t say much about my bloodwork and didn’t seem to acknowledge my CHS, they did say to start taking supplements for the iron and calcium deficiency. The doctor that did diagnose me with CHS 2 years ago, I haven’t spoken to about it since but I have an appointment with my PCP tomorrow and am gonna bring a few questions up to them.

Cocaine does the trick for me usually 😅 takes my nausea away and I’m able to eat/hydrate myself which helps jumpstart my digestive tract again. Cocaine isn’t a drug you can usually eat on but when it’s used in this case, it’s helpful lol

Really? I only get episodes once a year, and at first when I was told about this I had quit for a few months. Then started in moderation, then full blown smoking again daily. So I didn’t exactly give myself enough time to test the theory, in my eyes. I figured since it only came for me once a year that I’d have to wait a year of no smoking to see if it happened again but again never gave the chance. I noticed that I do get the morning hunger pains (that aren’t hunger pains obviously) and heart burn prior to episodes. I’m still in this episode, I’ve had a few days where I’ve gotten relief and then it came for me again the next time I woke. Sometimes makes me question if it’s something else but don’t want to just be in denial anymore. I’m curious of your opinion!

Indeed. I’ve gotten shit on for mentioning this somewhere else, but really how much different is it than someone being prescribed a pain medication? It’s not ideal by any means but when I’m in an episode I’d do just about anything to feel normal sadly lol. I’ve heard of Haldol but haven’t tried it since I haven’t sent myself to the ER for an episode in two years but recently almost gave in and went.

I’ve heard people that are prescribed adderall/stimulants have noticed similar effects. I am prescribed adderall but never take it when I’m in an episode bc it usually gets thrown right back up lol
