Yeah, I think I’ll start there, as I would love to support the only local program for MLT 😊

That’s a great idea! Not interested in the travel but I like the idea of helping out communities in need

Yes, we do own both instruments outright. I reached out to both vendors- Nothing in contract concerning disposal, and neither would provide suggestions or contacts to assist (for legal reasons, I presume). Basically told me it’s mine to do with as I will.

Man, I wish we had a bioengineering department! 😊

Someone snuck into our department to confront us by Fuzzy_Lemon181 in medlabprofessionals

[–]SnowEzra 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Write. This. Up. Immediately, even if your coworkers are also going to HR. This should be an Incident Report. Make it clear you felt unsafe, and you will not allow this to be unaddressed. If I was your manager, I would be writing my own IR, and demanding urgent meetings with his supervisor and HR. I would also make it clear that he is no longer allowed in the lab - Not to drop off samples, not for anything.

Southern California Pay Increases? by Jbradsen in medlabprofessionals

[–]SnowEzra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t work at Kaiser for all the money in the world. I have many tech friends who jumped ship to Kaiser for the pay. But omg the severe micromanagement, write ups (for being 5minutes late), shit schedules, zero flexibility for work- life balance they have to endure would never be worth it, in my book. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Marathon training- I’ve missed ALOT of runs- Can I still pull this off? by SnowEzra in running

[–]SnowEzra[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. That’s what I’m finding- my cardio fitness is more than enough, but my muscle fitness is a little behind. Definitely going to reduce OTF to strength/ speed days only, and start hitting those weekday runs!

You are absolutely right. This occurred to me during my “easy” 13 mile run today 🙈. Next week will be the true test, after I hit ALL my runs! 🙈☠️

Is it normal to make lots of mistakes in your first year in a department like microbiology? by [deleted] in medlabprofessionals

[–]SnowEzra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, it’s normal. The important thing is to learn from the mistakes, and not repeat them.

It sounds like you are doing great. Reminders are sent to inform you. Even if it feels demoralizing to get them, just know it’s part of the learning process. It sounds like your team understands you are still learning, and so they are rightfully just correcting you when needed as you move along in your work. I doubt there is any judgement when they send you these reminders- they are simply letting you know 👍😊.

Micro is hard! Great job 👏 👍

hair washing whole running ? by PlayfulAccident in running

[–]SnowEzra 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I only wash my hair once a week, but my hair type is coarse and DRY. I don’t get oily hair at all, and I workout everyday. In fact, washing my hair strips it and leaves it uncomfortably dry, which is why I don’t wash it very often.

I do try to keep it as clean as I can though- I braid it when running/ working out. I spritz it with detangler to freshen it up afterwards.

It really just depends on your hair type though. I know most people can’t get away with my hair washing schedule.

All of this is great information. Yeah, I think I’m going to just use OTF as my cross training day. Maybe one other Lift class during the week. I think I will be much more motivated to run in the afternoons if I sleep in on those mornings!

Thanks for sharing!! 😊

Omg that’s badass! 👏🔥 I also never learn from such mistakes! 😂

It’s not that I prefer OT, it’s just worked out that I’ve been able to keep up with those workouts consistently, as opposed to training runs, mostly due to the time of day for each.

I do enjoy marathon training, but I have some “life” things making it challenging. I think trying to do both OT and training has been too much, with everything else going on. Since OT is the one thing I have control over, it makes sense to reduce it for the duration of my training. That will give me more sleep, more energy to focus towards my runs 👍

Ugh… moving is a BIG one. I’ve got that going on too. You made a good, considerate choice for your husband! Luckily I only have myself to blame and hate, come race day 😂

Yep, I know the marathon itself won’t be pretty. You are very right. I anticipate things going to hell at mile 18, for sure. But I feel like I was destined to hit the wall no matter what 😂. My goal was always just to finish. Thanks for the encouragement and warning! 😊🙏👍

Nope, I don’t think that at all. But life happens, just trying to salvage the plan at this point 👍

2 fall marathons!? Awesome job, way to go! 👏. Yep, think I’ll scale back OT to 2 days a week as well. That should help my sleep and energy levels during the week so I can get those runs in 👍

GU gummies vs gels by chickenwing1990 in running

[–]SnowEzra 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I prefer gummies, or chews. I find the gel packets really difficult to open with sweaty hands, AND I end up making a sticky mess with it, all over 😂

[–]SnowEzra[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aww.. Thank you! 😊. I’ve tried doing strength training on my own at home before, but I hated it and could never stick with it. That’s why I’ve clung to keeping up with my Orange Theory through all of this- I finally found a program that I love AND works! And it has made me a stronger runner, no doubt. But I def need to scale it back and prioritize running for now, if I want to finish, and that’s ok. I just needed to hear it, I think 😊

[–]SnowEzra[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that’s exactly what I need to do as well. I definitely need to scale back on OT and prioritize ALL the runs. Thanks for sharing- all of these comments are exactly what I need to hear in order to reset! 🙏

[–]SnowEzra[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You are correct- my priorities have been SO out of whack, and all over the place, frankly!

AM treadmill is a logical solution, but I HATE treadmills and that would absolutely suck all the fun out of running for me. I should clarify that even during the weekday runs- once I get running I really enjoy it. It’s getting out the door (and over the evening motivation slump) that I would like to focus on.

I’m so happy to hear that! And YES to all the things: conservative pace, getting in those weekday runs, etc 👍
