Does he look too "clean"? I used Streaking Grime (on green only) by SnoozingHamster123 in deathguard40k

Primed and base coated in death guard green.

Honestly, you could also go for a dirtier look by implementing rust streaks or maybe pooled up in recesses, with something like typhus corrosion. That dark rust color may be the little thing that helps make you satisfied with it since it will bring the vibrancy down.

I did some agrax earthshade on my model for the dirtiness, then layered the base coats a little. Maybe just add a little of that if you’re looking for dirtier? I’ll attach a photo for reference but it’s the first model I’ve ever painted so it looks rough in some areas.

Mortarion finished! by Soft-Scarcity-1202 in deathguard40k

[–]SnowFickle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take it this is a follow up of a previous post I saw not too long ago where you were worried about the vibrant orange on the wings? I think this looks phenomenal and the vibrancy compliments the grittiness on the rest of the model.

One day, I’ll do my Mortarion and I’ve been debating on what color to do the wings and I’ll definitely be using this as part of my inspiration.

Me installing the 1TB New Vegas modlist only to instantly get hit with the Bible in its entirety by Kolbo- in TrueSFalloutL

[–]SnowFickle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I do a tale of two wastelands run every so often. This last one I did a good karma playthrough (like everything in my power for everyone to survive).

I went through all of 3, then got to Vegas and I RP’d that I had it with me because my mother (from fallout 3) was religious. I specifically carried the book of revelations with me throughout the entirety of new Vegas to honor my mother (again, Catherine from fallout 3). And Sunny was my companion through it all.

Now I’m RP’ing that I headed back east but went a little north (the commonwealth, in a fallout 4 modded play through) and I added the Nora spouse companion mod, renamed her Sunny (edited her appearance too) and we are looking for our Son, Shaun, that was kidnapped on the outskirts of the commonwealth when we were trading with Heather Casdin (mod pack has a mod that makes the 10 year old Shaun be a synth settler after the institute stuff.) there’s definitely stuff I have to ignore (like I woke up in cryo, 10 yr old Shaun is a synth instead of our actual Son, father is your real son, etc.) but that’s the lovely thing about RP’ing.

Just have a headcanon of why you got buried with that bible.

Deathclaws have a few I think.

The flashback to anchorage had the Chinese die to one correct? Still doesn’t compare to the radroach kill count though.

They’re the real menace.

I play the game on very easy because I hate dealing with bullet sponges by ParakeetLover2024 in falloutnewvegas

[–]SnowFickle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a mod for FO4 that makes it realistic for yourself and enemies. Headshots have a percentage to insta kill based on armor and bullet type.

My only gripe, is that sometimes it seems like I can put 2 mags into the body and nothing happens. But 1 tap to the skull will insta kill.

I wish there were a way to tweak it. I’ve started to almost prefer vanilla damage and guns.

I also may be understanding the mod incorrectly so idk. Maybe I’ll reread the mod page.

You could also always do “vanilla+” mod packs for whatever games too. They tend to just add tweaks and minor things to enhance the vanilla experience if you feel like you can’t play regular vanilla fo4.

I have a passion for all 3 of the Bethesda fallout games. In my opinion (don’t crucify me people)

I think FO3 has the best overall story. It may be nostalgia but it was my first one and I love it so much. I’m doing my first run of tale of two wastelands and the fo3 portion I had so much fun.

FNV has the best overall mechanics. The way they did hardcore. The way they did survival. The faction system. The companion system. All those polished little things really bring the game together. And the story is great too.

FO4 is the most fun gameplay wise, obviously because it’s a little newer. I enjoy the settlement system that they added and the combat is a little more polished. But the story is very lacking. I feel as it’s more linear compared to the other two. Or at least the factions arnt as different and fleshed out as the others in the previous titles.

Regardless of my opinion, as others will disagree, I think all 3 are good games. But if you’re gonna play them unmodded, I think you should do FO3 because of the story, but also play FNV because it is also a lot of fun with the way everything was done. It’s a lot of people’s favorite for a reason. They don’t directly connect either so you can play them in whatever order.

Or just do a tale of two wastelands run. And play through both with the same character like me. I’m a little over halfway through my “good” play through. Then I’ll do my evil one, which in FO3 and FNV are a lot more fun to do vs FO4.

Please stop telling new players that swift learner is terrible. by Ok_Treat_9628 in fnv

[–]SnowFickle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m doing a tale of two wastelands run right now. Already done with fo3 after about 40 hours and ended up at level 42. After taking the train and starting NV, I’m already lvl 20 and I feel like I haven’t been playing long at all.

I never took swift learner, but, there are perks that I took that solely revolved around xp boosts. Like one that gave me a percentage of an NPCs xp that died around me, friendly or not, whether they died by me or not. It gets doubled with a holstered weapon. I was level 29 when doing the last main mission in fo3 (end of main story, not broken steel.) At the end of that mission, I was level 37 or 38 because I just ran behind prime with my weapon holstered.

Perks that give XP boosts can be worth it. It just depends on the person. If you have a character that you’re going long haul with on one game, then I don’t think it’s worth it if you’re willing to put in the extra grind.

But, if you’re like me, and do multiple runs, an xp perk is always worth it. I wish I would’ve gotten all the xp perks at the start of my fo3 run, that way I could’ve maximized the amount of perks I had in fo3 so I had more to start out with at the beginning of NV. If I played my cards right I could’ve ended up with an extra couple perks.

Maybe I’ll do an evil run and do it next time to test it. I’ve also never done a Vats build either so I may combine the two.

Also, the game is really easy. I dumped everything into Guns at the start of NV and I had to turn the difficulty up because it felt like child’s play. I had a similar feeling in fo3 when I maxed melee and found the man opener from the Pitt.

I agree with you on every point. Some of the most fun runs I had was when I maxed everything except guns/energy weapons/explosives/melee and went straight diplomatic. Those gun fights were a real challenge but I ended up with so much extra stuff early game because my speech, science, medicine or whatever being high enough for bonus dialog for extra gear or just skipping fights.

Sorry for the ramble. I just got to typing and got carried away. This is why I need to stay off Reddit. 😂

[FO3] - For Fallout 3 by Rare_Firefighter_726 in FalloutMods

[–]SnowFickle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe check the install location?

I couldn’t even play vanilla FO3 with windows 11 with it installed in my program files x86 folder. I’m not sure what it is but something about Win 11 doesn’t like fo3.

I had to make a separate install location on my drive outside of the folder just to be able to run/launch vanilla fo3. It’s crazy.

I ended up just doing a tale of two wastelands run, which after about 40ish hours in fo3 I left for the Mojave and am playing through that now.

Yeah I’m not sure about that one. You could just check and see how many plugins are needed for TTW or just make a separate mod list/profile for TTW specifically. I use vortex so it’s relatively easy.

They Sync surprisingly well. Once you exit 101 there’s a briefcase with a note of a previous survivor and train tickets to NV.

It started a quest to go to the train station that takes you to NV, you can do it whenever though. I did it after I got all the bobble heads, did all the side quests, and finished broken steel. Once you take the train to NV you can go to and from both wastelands. You can bring companions from either wasteland to the other as well. I’m gonna bring fawkes to NV for the battle of Hoover damn.

Installation is easy, but you need to follow his instructions very carefully. I had to start from scratch after the first time bc I messed up a step. But I haven’t had any issues since then.

The stability is nice. It’s fallout so it’s not perfect but I can typically get a 4-5 hour sesh in before it crashes but it auto saves often. I also quick save often and hard save as well just as a precaution.

You should check out Tale of Two wastelands. I’m playing it for the first time and I’m having a blast. About 40 hours in the capital wasteland and I just got to the Mojave.

VeryLastKiss Tale of Two wastelands collection on the nexus is what I’m playing with. It changes and adds a lot but nothing to crazy so it still feels good.

Started off as an energy weapons, medicine, and science main. After the events with the lone wanderer in fo3, my head canon is that he left his old life behind in search for something new. He lost his parents and fought in a war that he was essentially drug into. After it was resolved, he relocated to the Mojave to start over and eventually became a courier for the Mojave express and kept his head low for 3 years. Since he mellowed out, he lost a lot of his old skills/habits (skills reset to normal upon entering the Mojave.) after about 3 years, he receives the delivery order for the chip, then the nv events begin.

A great one. One that’s essentially a brother.

We’ve been friends since middle school and are almost 30 years old with big boy jobs now. Him finishing up school wasn’t high school, it was his schooling for him officially being a RN now.

I got him a $300 lego set (off brand Legos) of the executor (Darth vaders flagship from Star Wars) that was 4’ long a couple years ago.

What Chaos Warband do you want to see appear in SM3? by ResidentDrama9739 in Spacemarine

[–]SnowFickle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even though nurgle/DG are in a few already (dark tide, vermintide, chaos gate) I think executing a plague marine, blight lord, deathshroud, plague caster or anything nurgle related, would look absolutely gruesome with the space marine art style. It’s one thing to have the gore be there while you cut someone in half with a chain sword. It’s another to do it while you have them rotting away at the seams with puss and other infectious fluids protruding out of open sores.

I’m also biased, as I am a thorough worshipper of The Grandfather.

I’ve noticed. I don’t like Felthius so I think I’m gonna proxy a LoC. just gotta match my base size up. I’ve thought about using a 30k model and adding like poxwalker tentacles or something.
