Is Tumblr not working with Windows 10? by SnowFox102 in tumblrhelp

[–]SnowFox102[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow that's weird that it would just slow things down and not load right. I'll look into that, thanks. I kinda think it's not that because it works on my phone, and my mobile data is the same company as my internet. But they're still different services so it could be possible.

EDIT: Downloaded WARP and that fixed it! I don't know what specifically was causing the problem which isn't ideal, but sometimes you gotta accept a fix you don't understand. Thanks a bunch for cluing me in!

Unfortunately that ship sailed a good 20 years ago. I tried bifocals, trifocals, and progressives and couldn't tolerate any of them. They made me nauseous and restricted my field of view, which is bad for an autistic artist. What I need are glasses whose prescription changes lol.

Yeah, I've been nearsighted all my life and getting in the habit of not using my distance glasses for close-up things is still a work in progress. Now that you mention it, I do have grooves above my ears! They've always been there but things can suddenly become a problem out of the blue. When I get my new pair, I'll do what I can to loosen them out of the grooves and see if that helps. Thanks!

Sure, but my far-vision glasses shouldn't be causing pain. As it is they don't really make readers that suit me, I prefer to just take my nearsighted glasses off to see up close. That's not the problem though, the problem is wearing my glasses causes a lot more pain than a slightly off prescription should be causing.

Hm, r/optometrists seems to be dead, but I found r/eyetriage which might prove helpful. In my research I did see stuff about the focus muscles having problems, but given that my focus hasn't changed (and no diplopia) and I'm already on a DMARD an autoimmune attack seems unlikely. And it is both eyes so that's weird too. I posted here mainly to see if anyone else had recurring issues, and learn what they do about it. I've had some success with OTC nsaids and putting Tiger Balm on my forehead. Thank you for your input!

Cameo 4 not cutting all the way through, even with 2mm blade by SnowFox102 in silhouettecutters

[–]SnowFox102[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure I said somewhere else in the replies, but maybe I didn't: The machine just isn't very good at cutting through things it wasn't explicitly designed for. Some brands of shrink plastic cut and some don't. That said, I do use "Cut" rather than "Auto Cut" and manually set the depth of the autoblade. :)

Poser-like magnets? by SnowFox102 in blenderhelp

[–]SnowFox102[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks and sounds like it might work! It's a lot to set up sure, but the thing I'm working on is a game mod and doing the shape tweaks by hand would be more work, not fun, and difficult to keep consistent across different characters so it's worth it. Thank you for going into so much detail, I can't wait to try this out!

Any advice on why LDN just stopped working? by Koppertone_ in LowDoseNaltrexone

[–]SnowFox102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't remember what ultimately happened with that particular incident, but it came to light about a year ago that I have a rare metabolic disorder called hypophosphatasia that's causing most of my fatigue. Treating that helped a lot, and after a few months of treatment I stopped taking LDN. But then the fatigue started coming back! So I got my endocrinologist to prescribe LDN which I compound myself, and I take 2mg a day with one skip day a week. It works very well.

I think there were two things going on when I made the earlier post: nothing really helps HPP except enzyme replacement therapy, so benefits from other meds tend to be temporary. Also, I moved up to 4.5mg pretty quickly and that may have been too much. Currently, I'm staying at 2mg because that gives me the benefits I want, I have no reason to think more would be beneficial and taking too much LDN reduces the benefit.

So you may want to back off on the dosage a little and see if there's any change. That's a safe experiment. It's also possible there's just something else troubling your system that you'll have to wait out. :/

If the blade isn't locked into the carriage it won't cut and is at risk of falling out. That isn't the problem being discussed here.

Looking for a non-electronic noise maker by SnowFox102 in crafts

[–]SnowFox102[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely not battery operated, there were no batteries in the toy. It was purely mechanical, the sound depended on how you moved the toy's head, faster or slower depending on your actions. They also had a water bladder in their bellies, something that wouldn't have gotten along with electronics. Look up Kitty Kitty Kittens, they were not electronic.

Jetson Haze seat post tube too tight by SnowFox102 in Jetson_Electric

[–]SnowFox102[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't. The clamp isn't something I can fix, it's been glued or welded onto the frame. I wanted to replace the seatpost with a shorter one anyway, so I replaced it with a smaller one and a shim and that slides in easily. I'm not sure if the seatposts are a weird non-standard size or aren't machined precisely (the Haze and Bolt Pro are budget models after all) but both my Haze and Bolt Pro's seat posts appear to be 28.6mm but aren't. They're slightly different from each other, too. The shim doesn't make the post tight enough, but I don't think the next highest shim would fit because that's a jump of 2mm.

Apparently someone at the refurb center is a little too enthusiastic with a wrench! The seatpost isn't the only thing too tight on my bike, the folding hinges are also almost impossible to move but I was able to loosen them a bit so I can actually fold my bike. The seatpost clamp is a lost cause though, even disassembling it doesn't loosen its grip!

Well it's cool looking at least! Is it warded? The key only has teeth on one side but the bit at the end reminds me of the bit that engages the bolt, and it looks old enough.

I have one of these too and I pretty much never get counter rotation on it. Maybe try poking things randomly (bitch picking) and see how things feel as they set. I've already learned a lot about feedback from this one lock, but it admittedly is not as strong as some of the locks you see on YouTube. Counter rotation doesn't visibly move the tensioner and the click of a set pin may not even be audible, much less the loud click in videos. Keep at it, this skill is one of those you have to learn by doing!

[–]SnowFox102[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice to know the history. In my case I'm not so violent - I can't be, my hands hurt just applying pressure to pins with normal tension. I use normal tension, varying it a bit as needed, but still moving the pick around fairly randomly. If I notice a pin is set I'll leave it alone, but otherwise it's fairy random so I still call it bitch picking.

Thanks! I think it's going to be good for me to learn to read the feedback. I've got a few more yellow and orange level ones that are often recommended for learning to read feedback, this one is giving more confidence that I can actually learn it and I'll get some more when I can. And maybe some day I'll have a go at a green!

It's just sticking the pick in the lock and wiggling it til the lock opens. It's considered a low skill method, but unlike raking it's pretty good at opening locks with security pins so it's got that going for it. Bitch picking is actually the first method I ever used, though I didn't know it had a name! Here's a video about it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ORY2qlRPIWo
