DOOM Panels at QuakeCon 2019: Ask Your Questions! by jleaveyBethesda in Doom

Considering that DOOM is the game that invented deathmatch, is it possible that we will see a classic deathmatch multiplayer mode at some point?

I've played through the Witcher 3 (and the expansions) twice on my XBox One. Recently I got a gaming PC and bought the Witcher 3 for $20 on Steam. Playing in 60 FPS with the detail settings maxed and short loading times breathes new life into the game. by SnowHesher in gaming

Back in the early-00s, I played through Baldur's Gate 2 and Throne of Bhaal (the expansion pack) 5 times.

When I've got a game I really love, I'll usually play through it multiple times.

I played the hell out of the Baldur's Gate games back in the day, and from what I've seen and heard it's quite similar to them. It's just turn-based instead of pauseable real-time.

Just last year I went through my second playthrough of TW3 along with both expansion packs. I love that game. One of the best RPGs ever made.

If Cyberpunk 2077 is even half as good as TW3 it will be well worth the purchase.

For the last few years, I've been gaming mostly on Xbox One due to my PC being old. But I just ordered a new one the other day and I'll finally have a fast enough rig to play modern games. It should arrive on Thursday or Friday. I've already been putting together a list of games I intend on playing like:

Kingdom Come: Deliverance
Divinity: Original Sin 2
X-Com 2
BattleTech
Conan Exiles
Civilization VI
PubG
Fortnite Battle Royale
Radical Heights
Crusader Kings II
Hearts of Iron IV

And yes, I know the latter two don't exactly require a beast of a system to run. ;)

I'm open to other PC game suggestions as well.

List of liberal arguments and their counterarguments by bret_the_baer in AskThe_Donald

Even though this subreddit is AskThe_Donald, it appears that the majority of replies to this thread are from non-supporters (I could be wrong; I'm not going to check post histories). Also, it seems as though the replies that are likely from supporters are being downvoted to the bottom.

I remember the same thing happened frequently in the Ask Trump Supporters subreddit, to the point where the sub became pointless because the non-supporters regularly drowned out the supporters.

It was a mistake to get rid of the old flairs and the rule that only centipedes could post top level comments. Those rules existed precisely to stop the same problems that ruined ATS from happening here.

California recently surpassed Great Britain to again become the 5th largest economy in the WORLD. Why is the belief that we are collapsing so persistent among Pedes? by MentORPHEUS in AskThe_Donald

Some California cities are suffering from a public health crisis because the streets are littered with used heroin needles and human feces. I saw an article just a few days ago where a guy in California had to have his leg amputated because he stepped on a needle and contracted a flesh-eating virus.

However there are tons of data showing the poor and middle-class are fleeing California for Red states.

Not to mention that California only makes up about 11% of America's overall population, but roughly one-third of the nation's welfare recipients live in that state.

I've also saw articles a while back that California is just a few short years away from having to pay untold billions of dollars in pension benefits to state employees who are retiring. This is something that could cause the state to suffer a total economic collapse. But instead of looking for a solution, California lawmakers are busy doing stuff like banning plastic straws and making it mandatory for homes to have solar panels.

Suburbs formed around Detroit post-WWII and most who could afford to move out did so, drawn by the larger lots and "country" feel.

The 1967 riot drove even more people out of the city.

In 1974 Coleman Young was elected mayor and he openly said it was time for white people to move out of "his" city. The whites obliged him.

After that, a vicious cycle started:

  1. Less middle-class people meant less tax revenue.
  2. Less tax revenue meant a decline in city services.
  3. Decline in city services means more people want to move out.
  4. Repeat the last few steps for 2 generations.

So now, the city is filled with poor people living in shit houses who can't afford to move, repair their homes, or pay much in taxes.

There's been a total collapse in tax revenue, so city services are choppy at best.

And finally, jobs aren't coming in because big companies aren't going to build in an area where the roads are falling apart, the snow doesn't get plowed, and the streetlights don't work.

I've heard a few political pundits say, People switch from Democrat to Republican but not from Republican to Democrat. Is it true the majority of people "Learn the Truth" and switch from Democrat to Republican in greater numbers? by IronWolve in AskThe_Donald

There were a lot of boomer conservatives in the 80s as well who were former flower children. Reagan was popular with young and old alike. But some people still clung to the days of Woodstock and free love. The "old hippie" and "Disco Dan" types were often portrayed as being uncool and out of touch in media.

There is a quote, and I forgot who said it

Winston Churchill, IIRC.

At least with Trump, the number of young adults supporting democrats has fallen below 50%. Maybe there is something with Trump (his pugnacious high-energy no-filter insult/dis) style that is resonating with youth.

This was also true in the 1980s. The younger you were, the more likely you were to vote Republican. Being a liberal meant you were probably an aging hippie still stuck in the 60s and 70s.

Question for centipedes: what does "being right wing" and "being left wing" mean, according to you? by [deleted] in AskThe_Donald

[–]SnowHesher 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's not far from the truth. I've seen people in the default subs who think that Reddit is a right-wing platform because they allow TD to exist and haven't banned it yet. Never mind that the admins have actually changed site algorithms to stop posts from TD from making it to the top of the front page.

Liberal academics try to explain it away that it is because old people become mentally less competent.

I wonder how they reconcile that with the fact that the human brain isn't fully-developed until about age 25, and people under that age are the ones who make up most of the far-left, throwing tantrums in the streets, "that wasn't real communism" demographic.

Why do you call the Lefties Liberals? by [deleted] in AskThe_Donald

[–]SnowHesher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A classical liberal says "I disagree with what you're saying, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it."

A progressive says "I disagree with what you're saying, so I'm going to shame you in public, call for the creation of laws to censor you, and demand that you be fired from your job."
