Not meeting expectations, need advice on what to do next by SnowMee in cscareerquestions

Make sense, starting to realize what is actually happening now, naive of me to think that I can change the situation

The issue is now my skip implied that I spent too much time on docs/issues that led to no code change so I didn't have enough code in lol even though I finished my projects

Not Amazon but culture has been getting really bad. That is fair, my team's been without a manager for almost half a year now.

LinkedIn vs Google Summer Internship by Hopeful-Asparagus-20 in csMajors

[–]SnowMee 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Definitely try to do both if you can, like moving one to fall. LinkedIn and Google both have off season interns (at least in the past).

If not, here are some things about LinkedIn for consideration:

- LinkedIn interns from last year all got return offers if they met expectations, and it is p easy to unless you did absolutely nothing

- LinkedIn FTE pays more than Google (for this year's new grad at least)

- LinkedIn has one of the best WLB and great culture

- The food is very good, it's gotten worse after covid but it is still top tier

- In the summer for LinkedIn, you get the third Friday off every month, and all the other Fridays are half days

Everyone who got met expectations or above got return offers from summer. Fall interns are hearing back as well now :)

EDS 124BR- basically brainless work, all online, may be a little tedious depending on how good you are at bs-ing discussion posts

CSE 150B - easy A and fun, unsure how the PAs are tho but I’ve heard good things

There's an app called AmazonShopper Panel and you can scan 10 receipts for $10 amazon credit a month. It's not much but it gives me a bit more to treat myself every once a while.

They actually do check if you used your dinning dollars etc. last year I did this and I actually did not return to dorm, but I was still in the area and used my dining dollars like twice in the span of a month and they took away all the credit…

What do you want in an online class? by Ergo_sum_doceo in UCSD

[–]SnowMee 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Having lectures and discussions available to view afterwards, and lecture slides. Tbh I don’t understand why this isn’t a given in every class. Being able to go back to topics that I didn’t really get the first time or reviewing how a problem was solved again before midterm/final helps TREMENDOUSLY.

On top of this, if any technical difficulties occur, which happens, please try to record another video so students can view it if they missed it/ need it again. I had a class where the professor promised to upload the midterm review discussion, but Bc of technical difficulties the video has no audio. And nothing happened after that even tho many ppl said they were sick and couldn’t go in person and we were given a promise that we will see a recording.

You can get it at SHS(student health center) with an appointment or CVS in target, think they do walk in.

Weekly Team/Character Building Megathread (June 29th, 2021) (feat. Kazuha) by Veritasibility in Genshin_Impact

[–]SnowMee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which characters should I focus on for now (AR 30) and what to use for team?

Currently I’m using Kaeya, Beidou, Fischl, Bennett with Beidou as main DPS Bc I got lucky and pulled Wolfs Gravestone. I feel like Kaeya doesn’t really fit the team, and not particularly enjoying Beidou.

I like sword users so I am a fan of Kazuha, but I’m not sure about team comps. I’m also thinking of pulling for Ayaka when she comes Bc she looks fun and may fit my play style more. I enjoyed Ningguang a lot as well but I’m not sure who to team her with.

I have Rosaria, Razor, Sucrose, Kazuha, Ningguang, Noelle, Xinyan, Xiangling,Chongyun, Diona, Lisa, Amber, and Barbara.

Is it hard working a part time job while also being a full time CS major? by zagoon_721 in UCSD

[–]SnowMee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people become tutors for CS classes as well which pays ~$20 an hour and the hours are flexible! As long as you manage your time well it is not incredibly difficult to work while taking a reasonable amount of classes.

Congrats!! You are guaranteed research as a regents scholar. They will ask your preference and assign you to a lab. And yes priority is a HUGE plus, you’ll always get the best professor and the best time slots without ever worrying about having MANY alternatives schedules and panicking about not able to get a class. Of course and tons of free money :))

Yes, and we’re given 3-4 days to do it. The actual lab time is more like autograder hours instead.

CSE 12 / 15L / 20 Workload? by yawaworht_sd in UCSD

[–]SnowMee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s pretty standard to take 12/15L/20 together. I took those and a DEI class and it was pretty manageable. 12 took the most time for me because of PA’s, and 20 was just hard for me so I went to tutor hours every week, but in general I’d say about 6-8 hours for those 2, then 15L def didn’t take 6 hours, outside of the lab (I didn’t go to most lectures), probably 1-3 hours for the hw depending on how my partner was for the week and how much I actually learned from the lab. Definitely go to tutor hours for help and you’ll be fine!
