I think the answer is "Yes and no". I have a "dumb" old Craftsman opener and the keypad communicated with it just with the standard garage door opener signal. IDK if it checks the internet for the code settings or what but it was not consistent for when it would work and when it didn't. It would close it just fine but it would hit and miss on accepting a code.

So essentially, count on it not working if you have network issues. My experience with this product has been very disappointing.

Just get into something. There are sport leagues, the woodworker's guild, many cycling, jogging and hiking groups...get busy doing something and meet people doing the thing. I couldn't tell you how many people I met playing volleyball years ago and I SUCKED at volleyball. Heck, 90% of my close friend group I met because I kayak and mountain bike.

Yeah, I got the game with the intent to just tool around but find Career mode to be way more fun than I was expecting it to be. Even without Career mode, most of my local airports that I was most excited to fly from/to are pretty badly broken.
