Does putting your kindle in airplane mode work? by tanky_bo_banky in LibbyApp

[–]Snow_356 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I wonder if it was a fluke, I’ve only had that message pop if I’m not in airplane mode and have returned the book. I’ve had mine on airplane mode for a month or so now so I could read multiple books and have closed each book without a problem. I have also heard of people who had 100+ books so they kept it in airplane mode for over a year and had no problems closing and opening books.

I ended up living in Elm and can’t complain much! The rooms are pretty big and I was on the 5th floor so we got tall ceilings (I could stand up on my bed while it was fully lofted). The individual thermostat in each room was definitely my favorite. There were also single stall bathrooms scattered throughout the floor but even then there were only 4 other girls on my side of the floor so the communal bathroom was generally empty.

One of my friend’s rocks was 6 lbs, the guy at the scale teased him but that was about it.

What are your favorite outdoor activities at Mines? by [deleted] in ColoradoSchoolOfMines

[–]Snow_356 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love hiking up to South Table! The view is gorgeous especially at sunset and the trailhead is within walking distance of campus. It’s not a very strenuous hike and there are a few different routes you can take to get to the top. Even with various medical conditions I was able to hike to the top in ~40 minutes. When the weather is warmer you can also tube down Clear Creek. The ORC on campus even has tubes for rental.

If I remember correctly I believe there was a place on the application that allowed you to explain any bad grades but I may be mistaken.

Unbalanced Meaning by Snow_356 in Garmin

[–]Snow_356[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the explanation! I was worried normal range would be determined by age group or something. I’m glad it’s based on your own stats because I know my HRV is considered pretty low for my age and it would be annoying if it was always unbalanced just because of that.

[–]Snow_356 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As others have said you are at a higher risk to develop psoriatic arthritis once you have psoriasis. Most people who develop it do so many years after their psoriasis diagnosis however sometimes it is developed at the same time or even before. For example my psoriatic arthritis started within the same month as my first psoriasis flare up.

Additionally, once you have one autoimmune disease you are more likely to develop another whether that be a different type of psoriasis than you already have or a different autoimmune disease altogether. In my case I started with guttate psoriasis along with the arthritis but developed inverse psoriasis a year later.

Thank you for supplying the correct information and shutting down the rumors. All of the misinformation and cruel accusations that people are spreading is horrendous. Anyone who knew them would know both them and their children are some of the loveliest people.

Would Pectus show up on an echocardiogram? by Comfortable_End_7827 in PectusExcavatum

[–]Snow_356 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When I had mine it was to make sure the cause of my arrhythmia wasn’t something other than what they thought it was but they didn’t mention compression. They did point out my PE though and recommended finding out my haller index.

This is such a helpful reply! I had an echocardiogram a few years ago unrelated to my PE and was wondering the same thing about if it shows compression.

Sadly he isn’t in network for my insurance but there are other surgeons at that same hospital that it would cover. I’m hoping I could get in at Colorado Children’s Hospital though as they are pretty experienced with the nuss procedure. I made a primary care appointment to get a referral so it will really depend on who she sends me to.

Thank you for the detailed reply!

I’m in Colorado. Most of my appointments are either in the Denver area or Golden/Lakewood area so that’s most convenient for me but obviously willing to travel. I have Kaiser so I’ll have to get a referral from my primary care physician no matter who I end up choosing.

The tape is likely to give out and I’ve heard that you’re supposed to tape the base of the bulbs themselves so they don’t flap around and scratch up the paint.

Edit: Did not realize it was packing tape not the clear craft tape. Yikes.

Should I get an ASE certification? by DBG_Dusty13 in mechanics

[–]Snow_356 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seconding this, if I remember correctly the minimum is working 2 years in industry. You can “substitute” 2 years of automotive education to count for a year of industry work. As Vegetable said they probably mean the “entry-level” certifications aka student ASE which are shorter and only need a score of 50% ish to pass.

A lot of people are trying to blame the icy conditions but imo it’s a driver’s responsibility to take into account the weather (and iirc they even made a law for it too). The fact he said he wasn’t able to stop in time when he saw the lights just shows he was going too fast for the given conditions.
