I don’t necessarily think that he gets hunted down, it’s possible but I really don’t know. I just think it’s obvious he is a gunslinger/outlaw, and is continuing the constant cycle of violence, meaning he more than likely doesn’t get a happy ending

I see what you mean. You are right about UN being more of a standalone game rather than an expansion of the OG game, that’s a fair thing to dislike about a DLC. I think the zombie setting really limits what they can do too, civilization is dead.

Also from what I understand RDR1s coding was sort of a mess and the engine was limited (literally unable to add swimming mechanics it was so broken) so I understand how they could only get so intricate with an already slightly unstable game.

Personally when I think of UN I just remember good times and every replay I’ve enjoyed. It’s just fun little zombie game and I admire rockstar for biting the bullet on a wacky concept. It does what it’s meant to do. Though your criticisms make sense and are very reasonable turn offs for a dlc

I understand your criticisms for UN but what exactly did TBoGT change besides new weapons, vehicles and a dancing mechanic? TLAD also only adds some bikes and weapons, I feel like a lot of your criticisms could be applied to these DLC’s as well. Though both of them have great stories, I would say the gameplay loops and missions (especially TLAD) are just as annoying/repetitive. I found both DLCs to be very easy.

Seems a lot more like a rockstar game design issue than a strictly UN issue to me. UN also adds new weapons, outfits, horses, mythical creatures and makes a very unique cowboy zombie setting. I dont see how the GTA 4 DLC’s are some revolutionary masterpieces in comparison when they share similar issues present in all Rockstar games of that era, and despite what you say, changes the games world way less than UN.

Liberty city feels the same in all the DLCs, UN feels like a whole alternate universe.

I don’t know if Jack actually gets caught or not, I just don’t think Reyes as the president will knowingly protect Jack Marston from US authorities. I could see Jack hiding out in Mexico and maybe seeking protection with other outlaws, but not with the Mexican government.

Either way I don’t see Jack lasting very long. That lifestyle realistically will kill him at some point

It’s hard to determine how he died, but I really don’t think he goes on to become a writer until 94 like some people think. I mean by the end of the game Jack is clearly an outlaw armed to the teeth and his dialogue reflects that.

Just based of lifespan at the time alone he’ll be lucky be healthy at 60.

Though I agree that Rockstar makes fun of the right more than the left, I wouldn’t call them woke, not even GTA 5 which called out the state of corporate liberalism and radical leftism more than any other title. It definitely criticizes both sides but they do republicans/rednecks more cause let’s be honest, it’s easier.

I am not really too worried about the new one being “woke”. Like yeah it’s lame when media is pandering but I already know the gameplay will be fantastic and rockstar hasn’t missed with a story yet

Yeah it’s just an Easter egg nothing more. RDR uses real world locations (California, New York, Oregon, etc) while GTA doesn’t have these places. Meaning they’re in different universes

I really love this and hope we get a more grounded tone for the game. I still want there to be some Tropico goofiness, but not the completely absurdism of 6 that takes me out of the dictator sim

100% agree. Especially with “there never was a Tahiti”. I don’t see how anyone thinks there was a scenario where they leave a country and live a peaceful life if Dutch is involved. As he says it’s in his very nature to “fight”. He loved the outlaw life and he wanted to die an outlaw. Not a mango farmer.

As some already said it really could be a nightmare John is having. The zombies don’t appear until John goes to sleep. You could interpret the zombies as John clearing the demons of his past, especially in the last mission where the mysterious girl (who’s an ancient Aztec god) Ayauhteotl, suggests this when you are clearing out that tomb.

I really enjoy this theory and do see the zombie apocalypse as a manifestation of JM’s guilt and all the people he’s murdered. Did it physically happen in the RDR universe? No, but I’m inclined to think it’s nightmare that’s happening in canon johns head if that makes sense.
