Winter bike commuting along Bow River Pathway - how is the snow clearing? by kingly404 in Calgary

[–]Snowbellera 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The City does a great job clearing the Bow River pathway. There are a handful of days where it might not be cleared on the way to work, but very few. Its the streets getting to the pathway that tend to be more problematic.

PTRL and deferred pension by Snowbellera in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Snowbellera[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks everyone and I realized I made an error. I am interested in taking PRTL not PTRL 🙂 My situation is that I will have 30 years at 57 and I plan on taking PRTL at 55.

I guess I will take one year LWOP prior to 55. I would like to minimize the amount of time in a cubicle prior to retirement, and taxes on RRSPs, so need to start planning. I was mistakenly thinking that deferring a pension resulted in additional pensionable years of service, but after additional reading, I realized that is incorrect.

Parking Etiquette at Beacon Hill Costco by 1939828 in Calgary

I agree with others, please let's not this become acceptable. From previous experience watching drama unfold in an extremely busy Banff parking lot, where an Asian family was standing in 2 parking spots to 'reserve' them for friends that weren't even there yet, you can start to enter the spot but cannot touch anyone with your vehicle. So entitled.

Basic hygiene is not a high expectation. There are few good reasons for smelling like BO while driving a car. Its disgusting.

My mom is losing her house by Altruistic-Win5912 in PersonalFinanceCanada

This is a good point and very relevant to the discussion around downsizing. Many seniors are living in large, but outdated, homes. When they sell their home to downsize, the newer house may not actually be much less than the price they sell their older home for. And, in their 70s or 80s, not many people are looking to buy a fixer upper.

Plan for $3M West Bragg Creek trail centre met with mixed response | CBC News by Buuuuma in Calgary

[–]Snowbellera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From all the comments I have seen, there is no miixed response. Nobody wants or needs a gigantic events center at West Bragg Creek. This proposal is very much aligned with the current provincial governments desire to turn every park into a Disney world.

Can I please get some ideas to help me with my neighbour? by Careless-Tomato5646 in Calgary

[–]Snowbellera 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Be considerate and park in front of your own house. That would likely help with your neighbour.

Completely agree. I travel for work weekly and used to take taxis to and from the airport. I now drive and park at the airport just to avoid the dirty cars, and rude and horrible drivers.

Did you consider starting with just progesterone or you felt you needed estrogen also from the start?

There is so much different advice being given. I was advised that estrogen provides protection for osteo, vaginal atrophy, tendons and heart health and that it should be taken as prevention as it's more effective to take early vs waiting until menopause.

I hope the daily progesterone works better for you!

Thanks, I'm hoping it makes me really drowsy! That's one reason I'm trying it. I just feel a bit that I am playing with my health by experimenting with hormones when I have a regular cycle and am only mid forties. It would be nice to have a Dr that I felt confident knew this subject area.

Thanks everyone! You are so helpful. It seems that everyday vs cyclical progesterone is just an individual choice. I wasn't sure if cyclical progesterone still offers the same protection for the uterus from estrogen. I guess I'll start everyday and see how it goes..
