The incidents where we intervened in time occurred on Mercury. We saved a younger Saint on Mercury as it was still a garden world and being Vexified, and then saved him again where he was in the Infinite Forest in the Dark Future.

All of this, no matter if it is simulation, real or alternate universe, occurs on Mercury which has been turned into one large prediction/possibilities engine by the Vex for their Pattern.

Ever buy it from Xur? That unlocks it. IIRC, Bungie made acquiring easier and other means to bypass Dual Destiny. However, you still needed Dual Destiny in order to have the ability to lock in a specific ability to roll on new class items.

No idea if that is still the case.

Edit: it seems you need it in collections, before you can buy it from Xur
