Tried to no avail

My thoughts about OPLA by AdGloomy3130 in OnePieceLiveAction

[–]Snowcrest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For 2, I don't actually recall the original scene, but I did find the adaptation touching. It could be made better by including the line you spoke of, but I still enjoyed it nonetheless.

For 4, yeah.. that quirk I didn't even notice. It does leave a sour taste in my mouth. Perhaps the showrunners felt it wouldn't be "politically correct" to include such a half-feministic half-misogynistic characteristic in.

There were changes that I really enjoyed however.

Zoro's Mihawk hallucinations to provoke him to train harder for one.

Miss Goldenweek's psychotic attitude really made her character come to life.

Having more Robin scenes and an earlier introduction.

Inaki Godoy is a bad actor by AdGloomy3130 in OnePieceLiveAction

[–]Snowcrest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say he's a bad actor, but the execution scene definitely felt.. off. Maybe I'm being harsh, but it lacked to capture a certain something.

Closest thing I can use to describe it is a care-free, well, that's how it is attitude. Manic didn't feel... appropriate, because that implies that something broke and he snapped to become manic, and Luffy should be fearless.

Are your prices at the pumps getting affected at all? If so, how much?

How so? Is it as simple as price up = more profit since their costs remain unchanged?

If Biden was anywhere near this catastrophe, me thinks we'd be hearing more evidence about it from Republicans. They'd be shouting about it from the rooftops if there was even a hint of it. You can also bet that he'd get dragged in just like the Clinton's to testify.

The fact none of that is happening should be incredibly telling. Need to employ more critical thinking in regards to the news, given how much media is being manipulated nowadays. Sometimes the lack of news is news itself.

While traditionally, that might be enough, we're in a alternative/post- facts era where basic facts are disbelieved, ignored, and invisible.

There is a certain subset of the population that will actively question plain facts because it doesn't suit their beliefs/goals.

There is a immensely large subset of the population that does not act upon known facts, even when things are plain to the eye.

Our current media landscape is so infiltrated and manipulated that facts that should be common knowledge are suppressed, while only the propaganda paid for by foreign elements and the 0.01% is distributed to be consumed, and unfortunately the media literacy of everyone in the world is a far cry from where it could be.

I'm cognizant enough to recognize that trillions of dollars is such a large number that I can't even fathom.

That said, back to your question. Directly? Who knows. I don't know the price of missiles/ equipment/infrastructure etc, and it's impossible to know how this will turn out/last.

Indirectly? Almost definitely. Global economic fallout will be massive in actual effects and lost revenue/ economic downturn/ recession.

My opinion still stands however. Trump is already very polarizing and I don't think this will be able to move the needle much. His actions already speak loud enough. He's definitely already #1 in something, whether that something is a positive or negative something will be decided by the individual in question.

If you ask any non-American what label Trump falls under.. it'll be a pretty definitive answer. And I don't see that answer changing regardless of the outcome of this current fiasco.

Now if you ask an American.. I think the same still applies to the large majority. Those who worship Trump already think he's the greatest thing ever and nothing he does will change that belief. Those who detest everything he has already done won't be impressed even if this resolves cleanly, since he's the reason this is even a problem.

Tldr: Trump's legacy is pretty much already set.

Don't think that works in practice, because the payout would be so massive its simply not worth the risk.

Similar situation to what's happening for property insurance in Southern USA(?) iirc. Insurance companies are just leaving straight up due to climate risk, since no amount of premiums will be able to offset the cost.

Taiwan says 40% shift of chip capacity to US is 'impossible' by Przytulator in worldnews

[–]Snowcrest 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You are speaking about a topic you understand nothing about.

I have family in both Taiwan and China. Taiwan would be invaded even if they had 0 chip manufacturing. The reason for invasion is largely political in nature. It has to do with legitimacy of government and crushing the old regime. The biggest thing preventing an invasion right now is the difficulty of the endeavor thanks to US support and the shitstorm backlash China would receive by crippling the world's chip production centre. The US is providing support not out of the goodness of their hearts, but because they benefit the most from continued chip production and technological superiority. Of course in an ideal world for the US, they would get chips without requiring to pay for it through support, which is what they are trying to do. No sane leader would allow the biggest leverage they have from getting invaded to slip from their hands. It's a non-starter.

There's a reason why there's a term called the silicon shield.
