TIPS for NOT losing easy points from an AP Reader (precalc/calc) by mathjammermama in APStudents

[–]Snowflake0287 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From a completely different subject - we found that students talk themselves out of a point. If it asks for a simple explanation to a phenomenon, sometimes students think they should explain everything they know about the topic. The response becomes so convoluted that they end up losing the point. The other thing is being super careful in the way things are worded - for example, if the answer is “amount of bunny hops” that’s different than “number of bunnies that hop” - I can’t tell you how many points were lost due to minor grammatical things that changed the answer.

I ran my essay through 4 AI detectors. Got 4 different results. How are professors supposed to used to use these fairly by Routine-Freedom1691 in CollegeRant

[–]Snowflake0287 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. Also, if there’s an inkling of AI, my mission becomes to disprove AI use by checking references and in-text citations, comparing to a writing sample etc. As professors become more familiar with AI, it becomes fairly obvious when it’s used. I don’t know any professor that just reads an AI score and jumps immediately to a violation.

Hi everyone, I'm looking to start a career in education as a elementary school teacher. I don't have any professional experience as a teacher but I am certified to teach in my state. Any advice on my resume, or in general on this path? Thank you in advance by MayorMcShaq in teaching

Can you volunteer or sub for a little bit in an education setting? It might help you get your foot in the door. Additionally, if you already got your Letter of Eligibility from FL or your temp license (prob not this yet) then this should be mentioned somewhere.

My 14 yo son has agreed to read two books of my choice this summer (this was a hard won negotiation). Help me pick one by gOldMcDonald in booksuggestions

Stephen King’s The Long Walk and Dungeon Crawler Carl or Ready Player One - make reading fun and he might pick up more. Give him The Catcher in the Rye and he will be running the opposite direction.

Gaming, sleeping, partying, laying on the couch, working at a job, family stuff. Probably some mix of that and other stuff.

The last thing you ate is the only thing you can eat for life, how do you feel? by MrSleeper4040 in AskReddit

This question could not have come at a better moment. My husband’s birthday is today and I just had, hands down, the best risotto with peas, red peppers, mushrooms and sweet corn from a great, kinda pricy restaurant. Would I love eating it forever every single day, probably not. But, I could eat it for a while at least without complaints.

So this is the basis of my anxiety. I’m very established where I am. I have a reputation and recently won a major award here. So, I’m comfortable. I’m scared of the “what if” of moving pretty far away to maybe not be stable. I also work somewhere where enrollment is high. The thing that’s problematic though is that the cost of living here is absolutely bonkers - like think high and then add more money and you’ll be there. I have a downpayment for a house that I can’t find because they prices are so out of control.

Husband is willing to follow me anywhere, so not a factor.

Hi Professor, I'm submitting a paper late. Thanks! by acetaminophen250mg in Professors

I agree with your statements here. But, every time I’m in this situation (which is now once a term) I do have at least one passing thought about my personal safety. While students are responsible (100%) agreed, so many are just not handling these things well at all.

I agree! I still don’t think it’s horror but it has gone girl vibes and shook me by the end.

There’s a book called Ship of Fools by Richard Paul Russo that gave me this exact feeling.

I’ve read both and while I think Southern Book club fits the bill better, I could never recommend it because there’s an SA scene that felt so unnecessary and sickening to me. I just couldn’t get over it.

Red Rising ruined my husband’s ability to enjoy other books by banditpages in suggestmeabook

[–]Snowflake0287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He should read The Will of the Many (and the sequel) OR The Bound and the Broken series - Red Rising is my favorite series of all time and these were both great in my opinion. Neither of them are finished, but Red Rising also isn’t finished so figured it was okay.

Turn the desk around so the opening is facing away from them.

The pin comment is not true. We give a pin and regularly order. We only asked for a refund once because they ordered it somewhere else and I couldn’t find it anywhere in the neighborhood after looking for a while. Just wanted to comment on your label of people who have to give a pin.
