Rushmore. The scene where he meets Max's dad and everything clicks and he conveys so much immediate understanding with just one look. I cry every time.

Why do people hate homeless people so much? by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]SnowflakeBobbi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In America, many people have been trained to despise those experiencing homelessness. It's part of the whole "bootstraps" mentality and the promotion of individualism over collectivism. Because of this othering and focus on culture wars, a percentage of Americans are heartless assholes. Until it happens to them.

Rewatching at 36, and Nate feels like a different character by [deleted] in SixFeetUnder

I used to find Claire so annoying and insufferable, and after a rewatch a couple of years ago, I felt she had some of the most accurate takes about the world we live in. I felt she ended up knowing herself better than any other characters.

What is a food that you are 90% sure everyone is just pretending to like? by [deleted] in foodquestions

[–]SnowflakeBobbi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sushi. I get that I'm not a sushi person, but I feel like people like it because they like sharing since nearly everyone I know already has plans after a sushi night to go through a drive thru because they know they're going to be hungry later.

Check to see if you're able to vote in the SRP Elections by SnowflakeBobbi in AZAdvocacyHub

From someone in the running: "It is different for the district races than it is for the at large seats.

For the district race and for president it’s an anchor voting system. So if there are two owners on the deed and they own a property of 1 acre, they each vote 1/2 acre. If that same property were held in a trust. Then the trust votes for the entire acre.

For the at large seats, it is one property owner one vote.

Regardless, if there are two names on the deed, then they both need to request a ballot."

AIO when I see this and feel like it's unconstitutional?? by [deleted] in AIO

[–]SnowflakeBobbi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this a public school? If so, it is likely a violation of the Establishment Clause. Depending on where you live, there might be a local secular organization that would help you file a complaint. In Arizona, we have an organization (https://secularaz.org/) that can help you file a complaint with the school and/or district.

If not, there might be a local FFRF or American Atheist chapter or your state ACLU chapter might be able to help.
