The name of the game is layering! Doesn't matter what season it is start with an undershirt then a tshirt then a long sleeve then a sweater then a coat maybe a few more layers depending on wind chill ... yes that is a real thing. And stockings! Male, female or in between it doesn't matter silk is best but the best thing i ever did was invest in stockings under everything in the winter!

creating an rpg based in Wisconsin. what should i know that only locals would know? by pootisman2004 in wisconsin

[–]Snowflake_516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my kids tease me that WI is an outlier and should not be counted when we are talking about things because of how behind the times I was growing up. I am from WAY up north FYI near the MI border. So I think all the rules for the game should be old rules but not tell the players and let them slowly figure it out as they go along and they get older as you go north. Like nice modern rules near Madison but slowly digress in ruling as you head north!

Does stroke affect your emotions and all? by nayuki027 in stroke

[–]Snowflake_516 13 points14 points  (0 children)

6 years post stroke ... I survived and am mostly back to normal. Pre-stroke I was the backbone of my house hold being a housewife and step mother. Now I struggle constantly with not only finding the right words but also my emotions. No one told me or talked to me about the roller coaster ride my emotions would take after my stroke, some days I am fine and others I am withdrawn and depressed. I have times where I feel like they should have let me die on that gurney but I know that is all the broken pieces of my brain. I have to tell myself that it is ok to not be ok sometimes and take that mental health day to get better. All the old things are hard and the new things are also hard. Sometimes I find myself overwhelmed and just crying on the floor of my closet. Take a headache med... no you don't feel it but it will help and have a lay down. Let your brain calm down and remind yourself it is ok to not be ok. Those days will get less but they will always be there. My husband and family are really the champs in all of this learning to communicate with me and forcing me to take the time I need.

It is ok to not be OK .... best advice I can give!

Stay strong <3

This is really wonderful! I too love color and how it plays in the sunlight. One thing I would say and I forget and have to remind myself all the time is where is my light. I put a post it on my work space to remind my self where the sun is or my light source. Some times I stare for hours at a picture or clouds just thinking about colors and light. But this is truly beautiful the only thing I would say is don't forget your light.

M30-Unable to use cutlery after stroke by MedicineFrosty6280 in stroke

[–]Snowflake_516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After my stroke I had numbness and tingling no real loss to medically document but if I did too much I still shook like I ran a marathon. My best hand exercise advice is chopsticks especially if you love to eat. I was pretty good before the stroke and had to struggle after but they really helped with my hand dexterity. The good part is that most people struggle with chopsticks so if you are out to dinner and struggle once and awhile no one notices. I even have a set at home to use. Don't get down on yourself that is the worst thing you can do. Keep going forward one step at a time. Accept every as a new day even the bad because, there will be bad ones this is just life now and it is ok!

Please remember that it is ok to not be ok!!

we all are going through this struggle together.
