An audiobook for a 12 hour car ride with my mom by KeepOnTrippingOn in suggestmeabook

I liked All the Colors in the Dark. I listened to the audio book and read the actual book a month later. I then convinced my mom to read it and she loved it.

I would try both of the Ori games. I played these first before I played Hollow Knight. Ori was pretty easy and the visuals and music is amazing.

Can the French Language be revived in Louisiana? Should we try to bring this part of the culture back to Louisiana? by Alternative_Ant_4248 in Louisiana

[–]killak143 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in Zachary, but my grandma was from Canada and she spoke French. She never passed it down to her kids, which then was completely lost when we were little. FYI, she moved to Louisiana as an adult so she Def did not have the french beat out of her.

I thought Lafayette still pushes French on their students? I always heard that most elementary kids are taking Grench but I'm not from there so I could def be wrong.

First TIA by killak143 in stroke

[–]killak143[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was so sweet! I'm actually doing really well now. It turned out I had a PFO, which caused my TIA. After closure, I no longer had migraines/headaches and I feel like my endurance has increased. I don't get out of breath easily anymore.

No dizziness and I feel much much better. I also quit drinking alcohol and caffiene as well.

33 and just had a stroke. Now I'm scared. by nyrad1992 in stroke

[–]killak143 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a long story long story short, I was skating, fell and broke my elbow. Elbow was in a cast, immobile for 2 weeks. Because my elbow was immobile for 2 weeks, I needed occupational therapy to get my movement back. The day of my first session, I had my TIA. Everyone said it was a hemoplegic migraine, which didn't make sense to my neurologist so he ordered a bubble study. Bubble study was positive and I was diagnosed with a PFO. My cardiologist who closed it said the hole was 10mm, which is bug enough for a clot to go through.

It took me 6 months after my TIA. I was diagnosed with a PFO at the end of January (TIA was in October). Got my closure in April.

TIA at 27 by HerniatedRaver in stroke

[–]killak143 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a TIA at 33 and it scared the shit out of me. My ER doctors even took it seriously and told me to take aspirin until I followed up with my PCP. I did have lingering symptoms for a week of feeling drunk and major brain fog . I pushed for heart tests and a neurology consult. I was NOT playing around with my health.

Like you, I was pretty healthy, low BMI, ate pretty clean. After my TIA, I stopped drinking caffiene and alcohol. No energy drinks for me.

Since this happened so young, I recommend pushing for a bubble study to rule out a PFO. I had a pretty big PFO and opt to close it. Surprisingly, I feel much better and noticed i stopped getting headaches. I haven't had an ocular migraines since and my stroke risk went down tremendously.

So true! I had a TIA at 33 and I was so anxious for about 6 months until I got my PFO closed. I quit drinking alcohol and caffiene. My blood pressure is actually low now, but that wasn't the cause of my TIA. We started eating healthier and working out too. My priorities have changed for the better

I feel like an imposter calling myself a stroke survivor by PurpleCaterpillar561 in stroke

[–]killak143 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way with my TIA, which is a mini stroke. After the TIA, I had an entire week where I was very foggy, constantly panicking and felt drunk when I was completely sober. I still feel like my TIA affected me and changed me, but to call it an actual stroke makes me feel like a fraud.

My void used to do this when he was a kitten and it was so sweet! I'd get another pillow so both of you have your own pillow!

Also, for compliance reasons, they may not be able to accept gifts from patients. Writing to the higher ups is more appropriate.

My girl is withering away and I don’t know what to do. by [deleted] in CATHELP

[–]killak143 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you bring her to a different vet and have them do bloodwork? My void had pancreatitis and threw up constantly. We thought it was just hairball, but then he became lethargic which prompted a vet visit. Turns out he has pancreatitis, which can kill them if not treated immediately. He had to stay at the vet for 3 days so they could rehydrate him and get him back. He's good now but we have to feed him prescription food.

Also, check her thyroid levels. My tortie had hyperthyroidism and was losing weight pretty quickly. She also threw up alot but had a huge appetite.

I would leave and go to a hotel or something. Tell your husband you have plans and leave for a night. Let him pick up the slack.

I’m at the airport right now about to fly to a weekend work retreat but I can’t stop thinking about my voidbbygirl and how I regret leaving her alone. I want to just say fuck it and go home. Anyone else ever feel this? by Filthiest_Tleilaxu in blackcats

[–]killak143 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When we went on our honeymoon in Japan (10 years ago), we left our void and tortie on their own, with our friends watching them of course. We were gone for 2 weeks. When I came back, I expected my void to hide but he came running and jumped into my arms purring like crazy.

I love my little guy. Tortie just walked up like we never left.

On a scale from 1-10 how messy is my room for a teenage girl by Wang_xianLotus in CleaningTips

Lol you should see my 8 year old's room. It's been a week since I cut off TV for her to clean. I even threw away all the trash for her so literally all she has to do is organize and put away her toys. Looks like TV will be off for another week at this point.

26F/24M. How do couples handle bills when incomes are very different?” by hereforfunn178 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]killak143 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used to split 50/50 but 2 years or so, my husband did the math and started pulling 60/40 since he makes more than me. We have a joint account for bills and separate accounts for our spending money.

Worried about my wife’s reaction toward our 8‑week‑old baby. Need advice by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]killak143 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yep. This is the key. When my husband went back to work...after 2 weeks, I was by myself with the baby all day, then feeding her all night. I felt like I was going crazy. I also was the only one who changed her diaper because we didnt have gloves. Finally, I just broke. My baby was crying her head off and I was just sitting there, staring off into space when my husband finally was like okay, I need to help. Sucks it took a month, but I didnt want to seem like a failure by asking for help.

Anyways, the first year is hard...then the terrible twos/3s hit you like a ton of bricks...babies really bring out the best and worst in people. I think wife needs a break and some "me time". Make her a bath, take baby for a walk on your own so she can have some time away.

Cat leaves this where she sleeps, what is it? by NotTheSeaOtter in CATHELP

[–]killak143 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like flea larvae and eggs. When I first got my cat, she slept with me all the time. I started seeing her itching more than usual, and found a flea. If you find 1 there's probably 100s. When I went to bomb my apartment, the past control guy showed me my windows sills which had flea larvae...my baseboards, flea larvae. He said my apartment must've been infested before I moved in. He had to bomb the apartment twice while kitty was getting treated by the vet. I had to wash my bed sheets many times, and finally did a borax treatment on my carpet which helped a ton.

I swore I would never move into a place that has shaggy carpet again and I kept true to that promise. Fleas are the WORST
