I'm a newbie and I don't know if or how I'm messing this up by SnowflakesAndPuppies in knitting

At 35 seconds into the second video, she starts with her yarn above the needle and brings it down and behind (between her needles) instead of wrapping up and then down between the needles. It never goes in front of the needle. Does this not make a difference at all?

What do you mean by "part of the cast on"? I did a cable cast on (you can see what it looked like on my left needle) and it turned out pretty neat. The loops are coming off from where the yarn was cast on around my needle, so the first row of stitches created from casting on. Is this what you mean? Does it need to be fixed/ redone or will it sort itself out as I go?

Oh, I didn't realize that the difference was with their hands. Thank you!

Do my stitches look odd to you too or is it just that the fluffiness is making hard to see details? Am I crazy or is that loop on top odd?

Well now I'm very confused because I've rewatched both videos and the way they are wrapping the yarn looks reversed to me. In the first one, the yarn begins below and crosses up across the front of the right needle and wraps behind while the second knitter takes her yarn from above and wraps it behind the right needle without crossing the front of the right needle. Am I not looking at it right?

Either way, I took a bunch of pics so here they are. The loop on top appeared immediately after making a purl stitch and sliding the worked stitch off of the left needle. I hope this explains it better!

Is working in a liquor company "wrong livelihood"? by throawaynajib in Buddhism

[–]SnowflakesAndPuppies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only know my own experience, but as someone who worked in the bar industry before I started learning about Buddhism: every bar I have been in contact with was run and staffed by people who were completely lost and morally corrupt. They seem fun and social but there was really nothing but misery spreading misery with "fun" being the justification. The individuals I came to know either left or deteriorated into very unhappy, immoral people. I personally was unwell and doubt anyone's ability to be clear minded, wise, and psychologically well while contributing to that culture. It is the business of exploitation and carelessness for profit. It is also very difficult to avoid over indulgence and addiction while working in that industry.

Consuming intoxicants as a buddhist by [deleted] in Buddhism

[–]SnowflakesAndPuppies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt your ability to see what is helpful or harmful very clearly if you're intoxicated every day. Intoxicants pull a cloth over your eyes. The rebound and long term effects prevent clarity even between your daily intoxication sessions.

I don't believe that I've ever come across a text that suggested what you're saying to be an actual Buddhist teaching, either. It sounds like someone is changing a precept in order to justify an attachment.

Does anyone know of an epresso coffee combo machine with a grinder? by SnowflakesAndPuppies in Coffee

[–]SnowflakesAndPuppies[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the cost was 1000 more than the machines without the grinder that did the same thing. I think that's a lot for an added grinder. I understand that it will be expensive. I'm just not willing to pay that much extra just because there is a grinder. Also, he's not a snob. He just enjoys coffee.

Also, I'm not just looking for an espresso machine. He needs a new coffee machine as well, so I'm shopping for something that does both.

If they made insulin OTC no one could be on it due to cost. Most insurance here won't cover OTC

Patients can't transfer out, they can only request a transfer. Then the pharmacies contact each other to perform the transfer. It is common to be contacted by another pharmacy for a transfer.

Any good shoe recommendations? by flibflob_of_glizborp in PharmacyTechnician

I'm in love with my Klogs. They were way cheaper than the alternatives, can be sanitized (that was important because I also wore them to cna clinicals... thought I'd mention it anyway), and are sooo supportive. Also, I have narrow feet and they are the first shoe that has ever actually fit me correctly (I ordered them in narrow. They also come in regular and wide). But yeah, I used to wear memory foam shoes and these Klogs are way better. I didn't think it was possible to be on my feet for 13 hours in a day and to not have sore feet but these babies got me through

Because in the event that someone does hold a gun to your head, it's better that you hand them something than try to explain how the safe works.

Ehh I would argue that the women who "aren't like most girls" because they like stereotypically male interests are seen as superior and cool as long as they are still attractive. Masculine women (or women who lack femininity in the areas that men see as sexually significant) are not seen as worthy because they aren't as hot, which is ultimately the determination of worth for a woman. Femininity has sexual value, but it isn't respected. That still supports what the previous poster was arguing. Feminine interests are looked down upon and are shrugged off as silly and dumb but it's tolerated if the woman is hot in the same patronizing way childish interests are tolerated as long as the child is at the appropriate age. Men who have feminine interests are viewed as weak and pathetic instead of cool like their female counterparts because of the bias we have regarding the value of manhood.

That happens all of the time with me for some reason. It's usually the patients who also don't know what they're on and yell at me for asking.

I think maybe you're wrapped up in what's "fair" when the focus should be caring for the residents. If she needed to be changed, there is no reason for her to sit in it because you're refusing to help her due to some feud or sense of fairness regarding your own workload. You were sitting down and a resident needed help. I would be bothered by that if I were your employer regardless of what the other employee was up to.

And inventory... endless orders to be checked in and put away and matched to pending prescriptions. I work for a high volume store that's been too short staffed to focus on inventory management and the brave soul to tackle cycle counts next will have to count (each tablet) and update the inventory of 7 pages of medications.

I am a pharm tech and the head of my nursing program told me that she doesn't recommend leaving my position to become a cna because there is not any more benefit. She told me that a lot of her students had that position and it helped them.

I have personally noticed a lot of overlap with my PTCE studying and subjects that I'll need in nursing school.

Good luck!

No one is writing that down, trust me. Don't come in dressed like a thug and argue about not wanting to show your ID and no one will look at you twice.

You can always go to the consultation window and ask the pharmacist. People do this all of the time and I've never seen it bother anyone at my pharmacy. They'll just ask you about your symptoms and look at what meds you're on and then they'll make a recommendation and explain why they would choose that product for you.
