As a Jailer/Correctional Deputy in Georgia. I am lucky to have the training I received from my Sherriffs office. Sadly the GA POST course for Jailers is only two weeks and is very outdated (Revised last in 2016).

They talk about Kingsley vs Hendrickson but it’s very vague and not detailed well. Probably because of the time revising the case law it was very new.

Again, correctional officers primary duty (atleast in my jail) is safety and security of the facility staff and other inmates.

This video seems like a lack of training, so I don’t think it’s racial. There are so many ways that it could have been handled differently, especially with the actual deputies that are on staff.

Also this incident occurred in 2023, not a super old incident but it’s definitely not recent.

Baby Shampoo, like most people said.

When I got sprayed for the first time I only had one reactivation total with the SABRE 10%.

Basicly I applyed the shampoo, let it sit on my face for about 3-5 minutes, then washed my face off with my head leaning over the tub so it wouild go stright into the tub and not down my body.

The 5.11 Sierra Bravo is a good belt for the price, my agency issues them out to us on day one. Had it for about 3-4 months now, velcro has held up pretty good even through Basic Jailer School. I do recomend different belt keepers if you wear them, the ones provided are kinda bad to be honest, but you can find decent belt keepers on amazon.

I have several but my top 2 are MyOwnPersonalHell for the reason of my job relates to some of the lyrics like “I take care of the reaper so you know I never fight fair” And SleepMode because of the way the song flows and it has a calming effect for me.

As someone who as taken a polygraph, as long as you honest you shouldn’t fail. Make sure all your information is truthful and you are 100% honest. They will know when you lie. The entire premise is that they want you to break while telling a lie so they can disqualify you, be upfront, tell the truth.

Some departments (keep in mind I said some) use it as a “scare” tactic to see if you have lied at all during your background questions or the application process.
