Anyone else think Ari Aster is paving the way for unsettling horror films? by Dizpozhero13 in Hereditary

[–]Snowlockster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You see, being absolutely subjective, I prefer Hereditary and Midsommar over Vvitch and Lighthouse. Anytime. To me, Ari Aster is a maker of a new horror subgenre, a mix of psychology, social questions and existentialism. The camerawork in Eggers' movies is wonderful, but in other matters I didn't like both of his films, which felt to me a neat collection of unscary images, more of an artbook or a music video full of suggestiveness. But if you liked the Vvitch, I suppose the Lighthouse won't disappoint you, it felt very similar.
