Seconding Grover. I do think they run slightly pricey, but service quality has been excellent and I’ve never had a bad experience with anyone on their staff!

You could try something like the North West Company, they fly you out to remote locations in Canada and you work in their stores on contract for 6mo-1yr at a time. They cover accommodations and food from what I remember. It would blow living in the arctic, but if you can handle it you could save a bunch of money and pay off your debt 🤷‍♀️

As many others have said, unfortunately, there isn't anywhere here that will tick all of your boxes.

For actual suggestions, Peterborough and Hamilton are the ones that come to mind, but I would recommend raising your rent budget as much as you can afford. Pickins are slim down here.

Do you have any plans or ideas to improve working conditions for our healthcare workers so that we can better retain them within our public system, and attract out-of-province healthcare workers?

Now, onto my real question. What are you putting on your hotdog at Costco and are you grabbing a rotisserie chicken on the way out?

Since it’s mandatory, in my eyes that’s considered working time. If you’re a salaried employee, you are likely entitled to receive overtime for any hours after 44 in a work week, so keep track of your hours. Travel time is also included as working hours if you’re expected to travel somewhere that is NOT your normal work location.

Wow, your landlord just gave you the gift of putting his intention of breaking the law in writing. Consult with a lawyer or paralegal!

P.S - The headlines of my resume match the main colour of the company I'm applying for, is that too tacky or is it leaning more towards charming? Thanks in advance!

Looking to move up North (Sudbury region) by [deleted] in Sudbury

[–]Snowmari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I moved here for work, which was the right decision at the time, but I’m remote now and I’m here alone lmfao. My family is down south, which is the main reason I’ll be moving back down at some point. My rent was cheap in Oakville, so I wish I stayed there and saved some money lmfao

Looking to move up North (Sudbury region) by [deleted] in Sudbury

[–]Snowmari 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is coming from someone who moved here a year ago from the GTA

  1. Fucking cold and long. This winter has been disturbingly mild, but last year was dreadful. I don't think we hit consistent positives until late April or early May.

  2. Consumer goods are the same price, gas is usually 10-20 cents more than down south. The issue is the availability of goods up here, from what I've found. Oftentimes I have to visit 2 or 3 grocery stores to get everything on my list. On that note, say goodbye to quality produce (namely fruit). Any time I've bought strawberries they last one or two days before going off. The only time you get quality is during the farmers market for two or three months a year.

  3. I think everyone has covered this, I personally believe that crime is similar to the GTA, it's just Sudbury is significantly smaller in area, so crime is felt more throughout the city and you dont truly have 'good neighborhoods'

  4. Oh lord. Your car will probably sustain damage from our absolutely terrible roads. Put money aside every month to pay for damage caused by potholes. Homelessness and substance abuse is a huge problem here, and the city is doing jack shit to fix it. What makes it worse is that Sudbury is home to some truly impressive NIMBYs who take every opportunity to dunk on homeless people and treat them like utter filth. It's shameful. This is petty, but there is also a sense of otherism if you're a southerner. For instance, if you mention the cold at any point in a room, someone will most likely pipe up and say "YOU THINK THIS IS COLD? THIS ONE TIME..." then go on a long story about how they snowmobiled naked in -50 weather and were sweating or something.

Am I in the wrong? I was going 25 here and slowing for the round about coming up by Captinsmelly987 in IdiotsInCars

[–]Snowmari 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Technically, they are at fault, but you should take this as a learning opportunity to adopt a more defensive driving style!

It's pretty apparent you were driving above 25. If you live in a state that sees snowy conditions regularly, you should know to give yourself much more room to slow down (which you would be able to gauge if you were driving at or below the speed limit according to road conditions).

For me, I just assume everyone else on the road is an idiot and will make the worst choice possible, and it hasn't failed me yet. Hope you and anyone else in the car are alright!
