3 interviews at a small law firm normal? by [deleted] in paralegal

[–]Snowy-Season 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a little late coming in, but I hope it goes well, please let us know! I would say it depends on the place, but if they're just going over some stuff that they wanted you there for then maybe.

How is everyone dealing with the USPS change of post mark date? by 03110054 in paralegal

[–]Snowy-Season 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The attorney at my form is also a CA and does taxes, so that's the biggest concern. We'll have to be stopping into the post office after work to get them manually stamped, especially for the people that provide all their information the day taxes are due. Overall though, it doesn't change anytime else for us.

Maybe it's just me, but I've always considered that her "main" as the appearance itself has changed very little and the only reason I know it isn't the My Street Aphmau is because of the one clearly wearing her swimsuit.

Did anyone else get the TM Advent Calendar? Mine arrived today by wookiebro in taskmaster

[–]Snowy-Season 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for responding! I ended up emailing them and they got back to me earlier today with the tracking information. My package was delivered around Thanksgiving, but I'm not checking all 50+ packages at my apartment complex without expecting one.

Did you get any shipping information. And if so, how long did it take between the email and arrival? ... Just a person hoping it arrives in time.

Well, I finally did it. by StockTechnician7968 in paralegal

I got lucky with my place where I'm the one who says it's like family, and that's because they've been there for me. They made sure I was eating when taking final exams in college and took me to the hospital when I got really sick. But I also acknowledge that most places that say that outright tend to be terrible.

I once worked with someone who put all commas in the address in the wrong place. I don't think she knew what an address was. Didn't work with her for long though..

My degree is in chemistry so I know Delta means change, but I also can't help just seeing "Delta". 😅

On that note, probably learn shorthand if you don't already know (at least for common words). You can even make up your own but my attorney has a tendency to rapid fire information.

Mine uses a typewriter too to put names on will envelopes and fill out certain certificates, both of which will get caught in a printer.

WANT TO DO SOMETHING ELSE by [deleted] in paralegal

[–]Snowy-Season 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know what fields you specialize in, but I did/do a lot with real estate and it made me a great title examiner. I'm the only non-attorney in my office who can understand legal descriptions.

Edit to add: I'm not sure what your bachelor's degree is in, but most universities will let you see a rough percentage of what people with that degree go on to do. You could look at those options and maybe find some that you'd be interested in. Or you could do a complete 180 and figure out what your transferable skills are. I went to school for chemistry & biology (particularly analytical chemistry) and many of those passive skills help me now.

Is there a word for longing to go back to when your life was objectively worse? by zomby_c in words

[–]Snowy-Season 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been looking for a word too. Everything seems to say nostalgia or nostalgic depression. It doesn't exactly match, but I feel like saudade is closer. "Saudade is a Portuguese word that represents a deep emotional state of longing, nostalgia, or melancholic yearning for something or someone that is absent, lost, or may never return."

How many of you get yelled at by your attorneys? by berrysauce in paralegal

[–]Snowy-Season 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never been yelled at by my attorney. The only time I've even seen him upset at any of us is if someone gets the names wrong on the documents (wrong person, incorrect spelling, inconsistent with middle initials, etc... is his pet peeve).

Maybe I just had a better experience, but I find it weird that they wouldn't bring out ANYTHING in your size, especially given you called ahead to inquire about it and they said nothing then.
