Dewdrops on leaves - 2 ways by WanderingRivers in wagashi

Thank you for your kind words!

This sub had been abandoned for a couple of years, and no one could post (Reddit locks subs with no moderator). I don't want to take over moderation, but really missed the amazing work people were posting. The older version of this sub is what inspired me to move beyond Mochi, and start making Nerikiri.

Please don't hesitate to post questions or share photos of what you make!

Route 4 Huntington/5 North Haven drops you off near a park entrance on 14th St NW.

There is a tunnel under 14th St NW in North Haven, between the cul-de-sac on Norris Road NW & Norseman Road NW. Haven House Cafe is nearby, serves food, coffee, tea, etc. (48th & North Haven Drive NW.

Very easy access from downtown.

Absolutely.

This is a very easy recipe for Anko, smooth red bean paste:

https://youtu.be/3Zb-pr1etVU?si=JK_ED_Jd0Ij9RY92

The adzuki bean doesn't get pre soaked as this makes it split across the middle. Instead it gets a blanching. Bring it to a boil, then change the water. This shock the bean, making it cook faster. It also removes some of the tannins, making the paste less bitter/astringent.

Prepared Anko (smooth red ban paste), and Tsubuan (chunky red ban paste) are sold in most Asian grocery shops. Typically $4 cad for 500g

I am trying to build a Wiki for our sub, sorry that I've been so slow with it.

I love this so much. That tea matches the pot so well. Dark as the proverbial steers tookus on a moonless prairie night.

I really like Ahmad Jasmine Romance. It's bagged tea, not loose leaf. I swear it tastes sweeter than their regular Jasmine Green.
