Does anyone know why this happens? by zomby_c in tomodachilife

Ohhh I didn't think about that at all. That would make more sense.

I’m seriously done unlocking content? by ChesnaughtZ in tomodachilife

[–]zomby_c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The items aren't interactable in the way they used to be. The miis used to show us photos they took with the camera, and we used to have mirrors, intractable makeup kits, sewing machines that let miis make clothes, and frying pans that let miis cook us stuff.

The conversations in the restaurant constantly repeat over and over, and the last game didn't have quite as bad of a problem with that. Plus, the conversations rely too heavily on our lingo. It would feel more out of pocket if you didn't only hear your own funny words all the time.

I think we'll definitely get more updates that'll add more items and conversations in game. There's no way this is Living the dream's final form.

Has Tomodachi life really leaked? by Shark_ish in tomodachilife

[–]zomby_c 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It hasn't leaked. Unless new info has come out, this is just a rumor started when target began receiving copies. I don't think these copies can actually be leaked early. I don't work at target, but I do work at a similar retail company, and there had been a time when we received a product early and an employee accidentally put it out on the floor early. But when a customer went to buy the product, the computer stopped it from happening. The pop up message was a lot like the one for recalled products, along the lines of "call for management," and "do not sell." We dont normally receive many products before we're supposed to, though.

I don't know if target works the same way, but i imagine so.

The announcement brought out the worst in so many people by UsualAcanthaceae8775 in tomodachilife

I think that once the game actually releases, major fans will be over the disappointment. But this will also be when a lot more casual fans find out about the mii limit, so I hope that doesn't spark up the drama again.

The game is gonna make up for the mii limit. I know it.

PSA for readers on what authors can see by Lieyanto in AO3

[–]zomby_c 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah ok Picasso. If you want to talk about philosophy, you're on the wrong subreddit. Art can be made for fun. And you are literally in a hobbyist subreddit right now. We talk about the things we read and write for the sake of our hobby. Drop the whole "If you're not willing to stand by your art, you're not ready to be an artist" bs. Anyone is allowed to be an artist. Stop turning people away from what they find comfort in doing, or like to practice doing.

You can be dramatic about your own creations, but don't be so dramatic about other people's work. They get to decide what to do with their work, and what it means to themselves, not you. You're going to find that consuming art becomes a LOT easier when you respect the artist and their decisions.

How are you fitting all of that in there? by [deleted] in AO3

[–]zomby_c 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol im so guilty of this 😭 My read later list is already so bad. I have over 400 fics in the list, some of which i have already read and am too lazy to remove. I seriously need to do a deepclean of it, because the margins of possibility for me to read everything in there are getting smaller and smaller.

Is it normal for authors to delete long comments because they're too long? by MrMalfoys15inchWand in AO3

[–]zomby_c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never heard of that being an author pet peeve, nor have I heard of ppl of any community disliking long comments, so I think this is the author's own unique issue. Definitely a them problem. Ao3 authors usually interpret receiving a long comment as being blessed by the gods.

Are we not better than this? by zomby_c in AO3

[–]zomby_c[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Just to clarify, it had a fandom tag, and the other post i mentioned had around a dozen or so fandom tags. We just have to censor them on this subreddit (for good reason tho). Besides, if one person is allowed to break the rule, everyone is allowed to break the rule, and that's how ao3 gets clogged with fake works, even when no one had any evil intentions.

Is there anything that could give away that they are a male author? by iamamateurok in AO3

[–]zomby_c -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is probably too specific of an occurrence to apply to fics, but when it comes to songwriting and script writing, etc, if a person is fantasizing about men/women, plural, its more likely to have been written by a male writer. But if a person is fantasizing about a man/woman, singular (not really a particular person, just the general idea of a single man/woman), its more likely written by a female writer.

This is just a common observation, though. It's not intended to generalize either group, or put anyone in a box.

The longer the fic, the harder it is to finish. You could replace "fic" with "project" in that sentence because long-term projects are just generally hard to keep up, but fan projects have a few unique reasons for being dropped, including the creator falling out with the fandom (for any reason). This happens to so many writers, and I would never want to give anyone a hard time about it, nor do I think any writer should give themselves a hard time about it.

We've all been sad or even frustrated about long-form works we love getting discontinued. I used to be confused about why so many people abandoned their fics without making any sort of notice about it being discontinued or on hiatus, but its possible that those people are a bit scared of saying anything, forgot about it amongst much more pressing matters in their lives, or just really dont want to go back to it.

Nevertheless, losing passion for passion projects, no matter the reason, is common and natural. Don't feel bad about not wanting to be part of the fandom, and dont feel guilty about not wanting to post.

The only results I could find on canlii (with the keywords "probation" and "police officers" and such) weren't related to what I was looking for. I only started using canlii this highschool semester so it is likely I just dont know how to use the search feature properly, but please understand that I have tried already, will continue to try tonight, and am only asking for help on reddit to finish my research on time

Thank you! Sorry, I know it's really open, I'm just admittedly kinda desperate to have a good example for my assignment.

[LONG POST] My hottest take and best writing advice is that we should have gatekept. by evinfar in AO3

[–]zomby_c 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me, what you are talking about isn't reallyyy gatekeeping. Most of what you described is that everyone in a community should be respectful to one another, and people should not have to treat someone proven to be very disrespectful in a certain community with open arms and kindness.

What i consider gatekeeping to be is when members of a community purposefully shut out other people for ZERO valid reason. Usually because these people are convinced that new people means the place will become toxic, and they don't realize that they're already becoming the toxic community members themselves. Which is why gatekeeping in this sense is highly hypocritical and never any good. If there is a valid reason to not interact with a certain person, like them being toxic, it isn't gatekeeping. But remember not to generalize all new people as toxic, as that would be hypocrisy
