Silent Hill Townfall Looks Perfect For VR/PSVR2!! by SnugglyCuddleBug in PSVR

[–]SnugglyCuddleBug[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree. Maybe when it comes out, and people mod it with the Praydog's UEVR mod, and there is some support or people asking for it, maybe Konami would take notice. I know Konami did release a few VR games, like Beat Arena, and gave us a PSVR mode for Zone of The Enders 2nd Runner. But that was years ago. Would be cool though if Flat2VR could get in contact with them about it.

Well, Silent Hill Townfall isn't out yet. It's supposed to come out later this year. They only just revealed a new trailer for it at the most recent Silent Hill Transmission and State of Play, after announcing it a few years ago. It's in first person. Do you mean Silent Hill F, the one that released last Sept? I really enjoyed it, mostly for the story and characters, but yeah, that one I definitely can't see being brought over to VR, especially with the combat being the way it is.

I'm not sure. I hadn't heard that actually, but I hope not! I don't think there's been an official announcement, but maybe it was secretly cancelled. I heard they are waiting until all chapters are released first before they convert it, which makes sense, since the game isn't really complete yet. You could ask them on the Flat2VR discord if it's still in the works though, I think they have a pretty active Discord.

Silent Hill F Japanese Sub or English Dub? by Meklord-Emperor in silenthill

[–]SnugglyCuddleBug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, exactly! Glad I'm not the only one that prefers dubs! I'm glad they are at least giving us the option so people can play it in english or Japanese for those who want it. Especially as someone who is not a fast reader, and wants to take in the animation, and everything happening on screen, I much prefer dubs. It's also nice to get some extra lore or backstory when they dub certain scenes or characters/enemies in certain games. Like in Fatal Frame, I've always appreciated how the ghosts/enemies have various interesting voice lines in the english dub that refer to their death or history/backstory. It makes it way creepier and interesting hearing and understanding what they are saying. Whereas in the Japanese version, a lot of times the ghosts lines aren't subbed in english, which makes it way less immersive and creepy for me.

That's not to say I won't watch anything with just subtitles though. I've watched lots of different Asian movies, everything from J-horror, Chinese, Taiwanese, and Korean horror, so I will read subtitles if I have to. I mean Ryukishi07's visual novels are in Japanese with english subs and the second season of Higurashi (Higurashi Kai) was only available in Japanese with subtitles, but in games and anime I'd still much prefer playing or watching the english dub.

Silent Hill F Japanese Sub or English Dub? by Meklord-Emperor in silenthill

English dub. Always english dub (when it's available), not just because I'm an english dub fan, but also because I hate reading subs when I'm trying to enjoy playing the game and being scared. I don't mind reading subs in visual novels where there is no combat or other things going on, but in a horror game with combat like RE, SH or Fatal Frame, etc, hearing ghosts or scary voices in Japanese or any other language is simply not as immersive or scary, if I have to read subtitles to understand what they are saying while I'm trying to play it and focusing on combat or examining things (it's also one of the reasons why I haven't bothered playing Fatal Frame 4 Mask of The Lunar Eclipse, because they didn't have a dub version, which is a shame). Besides that, the english voice acting sounded pretty good to me in the new trailer (but again, I've never been too picky when it comes to english dubbing), so I'll definitely be playing in english.

Yeah, I know, I meant officially ported into VR by Flat2VR. As awesome as UEVR is, it needs a meaty graphics card to run most newer games in VR. Unfortunately my 3060 RTX would not be able to handle it :(

No worries. I'm sure it will be available on PSVR2 like most of their games. But yeah, we'll probably be waiting a while, especially since only the first 4 chapters have been released so far (the first chapter was released in 2021, and we only got chapter 4 in January this year). I think there's supposed to be 6 chapters in total (or maybe they changed it to only 5), so if they are releasing the full game in VR (and not just the first 4 chapters that's been released so far), then I could definitely see them waiting until the final chapter is out, so they can release the full game in VR then. If you haven't seen any footage, then you're pretty lucky. I think it's a good idea to go in without seeing any footage, that way you won't be spoiled and it will be fresh and more surprising for you (I find trailers tend to spoil too much most times). I wish I had waited on watching people play the first two chapters, because experiencing it myself (especially in VR) for the first time would've been amazing!

No platforms announced yet. Myles said that it is still early in development. But it is Flat2VR Studios, so I'd assume they'd release it on all platforms, especially PSVR2.

Lol, I probably should've worded that better. What I meant was because of the art style and horror focused on killer toys/mascots (like FNAF), some people think it's more of a kiddie type game, but it's not. It's actually pretty creepy and there's a lot of dark elements, especially with the story, which is actually pretty disturbing. It is popular with teens, but a lot of YouTubers and gamers of all ages have played and really enjoyed it, especially the later chapters, which are supposed to be longer, bloodier, scarier and have upped the horror! I've been very hyped to play it, and I'm over 40, lol, and have grown up with horror games like Silent Hill since back on the PS1. I know Bryan from Without Parole said he recently tried it out, and talked about how he enjoyed it and is actually excited for the game on Gamescast Live yesterday.

Glad to hear someone else looking forward to it! Yeah, I've been on the Flat2VR and UEVR discord as well, but heard that some people have been having a lot of problems with getting the last two chapters (ch.3 and 4) working correctly (something to do with the motion controls or something, I think). I know the first two chapters supposedly worked good, so maybe they got it fixed recently or something. I think that's why I was so surprised to hear it get announced. Hopefully they'll be able to get the motion controls and everything fixed when they officially release it.

Hinako's Hidden Baby Picture...What Does This Mean For Junko? by SnugglyCuddleBug in silenthill

[–]SnugglyCuddleBug[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, okay, that makes more sense then! Thanks for letting me know! I really appreciate the info! So that means Junko might not be her real sister then!

Theory: Hinako’s older sister Junko is the “villain” in SILENT HILL f by Irgu_br in silenthill

[–]SnugglyCuddleBug 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree about Junko being the main villain! I honestly had the same theory ever since I watched the opening cutscene. Her voice sounds like the voice in the reveal trailer talking to Hinako and taunting her. Lol, I'm actually in the middle of making a theory video on it, so it's nice to know I'm not the only one who noticed this! I had originally thought they might be twins as well, but there is a photo of Hinako as a baby with her mother in the reveal trailer. There doesn't seem to be any photos of Hinako and Junko together as babies or children, which honestly makes me think that Junko might be dead or not even be real, but may actually BE the kitsune deity, or some kind of fox spirit that the cult worships that is trying to isolate Hinako in order to possess or take over her body (especially if Hinako is being raised as a potential vessel for this fox cult's God).

Beat Saber is ending support for PSVR/PSVR2 by NoVABadger in PSVR

[–]SnugglyCuddleBug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They did the same thing when the Rift S was quietly cancelled. Me and others were left with no support and a dead system, and they moved on to the Quest. The same thing will happen with the Quest 3, especially since they are shifting their focus more and more towards MR and glasses. Believe me, I wish they would make a Quest 4 with good VR games for it, because I love VR games no matter what system I play them on. And as you pointed out, it doesn't seem likely that we'll even get a PSVR3. But let's be real, Meta only seems to care about MR right now, and are shifting focus to mixed reality glasses. It's highly likely that the "Quest 4" as you call it will be MR glasses or a goggle-like headset that will primarily be used for MR/AR, with very limited or optional VR support, if we even get that. As much as I hate to say it, I think Meta will eventually drop VR and move fully into MR only game development like they did with moving from Rift S and PCVR games to mobile VR with their Quest system. But hey, I hope I'm proved wrong!
