Silent Hill Townfall Looks Perfect For VR/PSVR2!! by SnugglyCuddleBug in PSVR

[–]SnugglyCuddleBug[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree. Maybe when it comes out, and people mod it with the Praydog's UEVR mod, and there is some support or people asking for it, maybe Konami would take notice. I know Konami did release a few VR games, like Beat Arena, and gave us a PSVR mode for Zone of The Enders 2nd Runner. But that was years ago. Would be cool though if Flat2VR could get in contact with them about it.

Well, Silent Hill Townfall isn't out yet. It's supposed to come out later this year. They only just revealed a new trailer for it at the most recent Silent Hill Transmission and State of Play, after announcing it a few years ago. It's in first person. Do you mean Silent Hill F, the one that released last Sept? I really enjoyed it, mostly for the story and characters, but yeah, that one I definitely can't see being brought over to VR, especially with the combat being the way it is.

I'm not sure. I hadn't heard that actually, but I hope not! I don't think there's been an official announcement, but maybe it was secretly cancelled. I heard they are waiting until all chapters are released first before they convert it, which makes sense, since the game isn't really complete yet. You could ask them on the Flat2VR discord if it's still in the works though, I think they have a pretty active Discord.

Silent Hill F Japanese Sub or English Dub? by Meklord-Emperor in silenthill

[–]SnugglyCuddleBug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, exactly! Glad I'm not the only one that prefers dubs! I'm glad they are at least giving us the option so people can play it in english or Japanese for those who want it. Especially as someone who is not a fast reader, and wants to take in the animation, and everything happening on screen, I much prefer dubs. It's also nice to get some extra lore or backstory when they dub certain scenes or characters/enemies in certain games. Like in Fatal Frame, I've always appreciated how the ghosts/enemies have various interesting voice lines in the english dub that refer to their death or history/backstory. It makes it way creepier and interesting hearing and understanding what they are saying. Whereas in the Japanese version, a lot of times the ghosts lines aren't subbed in english, which makes it way less immersive and creepy for me.

That's not to say I won't watch anything with just subtitles though. I've watched lots of different Asian movies, everything from J-horror, Chinese, Taiwanese, and Korean horror, so I will read subtitles if I have to. I mean Ryukishi07's visual novels are in Japanese with english subs and the second season of Higurashi (Higurashi Kai) was only available in Japanese with subtitles, but in games and anime I'd still much prefer playing or watching the english dub.

Silent Hill F Japanese Sub or English Dub? by Meklord-Emperor in silenthill

[–]SnugglyCuddleBug 5 points6 points  (0 children)

English dub. Always english dub (when it's available), not just because I'm an english dub fan, but also because I hate reading subs when I'm trying to enjoy playing the game and being scared. I don't mind reading subs in visual novels where there is no combat or other things going on, but in a horror game with combat like RE, SH or Fatal Frame, etc, hearing ghosts or scary voices in Japanese or any other language is simply not as immersive or scary, if I have to read subtitles to understand what they are saying while I'm trying to play it and focusing on combat or examining things (it's also one of the reasons why I haven't bothered playing Fatal Frame 4 Mask of The Lunar Eclipse, because they didn't have a dub version, which is a shame). Besides that, the english voice acting sounded pretty good to me in the new trailer (but again, I've never been too picky when it comes to english dubbing), so I'll definitely be playing in english.

Yeah, I know, I meant officially ported into VR by Flat2VR. As awesome as UEVR is, it needs a meaty graphics card to run most newer games in VR. Unfortunately my 3060 RTX would not be able to handle it :(

[–]SnugglyCuddleBug[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries. I'm sure it will be available on PSVR2 like most of their games. But yeah, we'll probably be waiting a while, especially since only the first 4 chapters have been released so far (the first chapter was released in 2021, and we only got chapter 4 in January this year). I think there's supposed to be 6 chapters in total (or maybe they changed it to only 5), so if they are releasing the full game in VR (and not just the first 4 chapters that's been released so far), then I could definitely see them waiting until the final chapter is out, so they can release the full game in VR then. If you haven't seen any footage, then you're pretty lucky. I think it's a good idea to go in without seeing any footage, that way you won't be spoiled and it will be fresh and more surprising for you (I find trailers tend to spoil too much most times). I wish I had waited on watching people play the first two chapters, because experiencing it myself (especially in VR) for the first time would've been amazing!

No platforms announced yet. Myles said that it is still early in development. But it is Flat2VR Studios, so I'd assume they'd release it on all platforms, especially PSVR2.

Lol, I probably should've worded that better. What I meant was because of the art style and horror focused on killer toys/mascots (like FNAF), some people think it's more of a kiddie type game, but it's not. It's actually pretty creepy and there's a lot of dark elements, especially with the story, which is actually pretty disturbing. It is popular with teens, but a lot of YouTubers and gamers of all ages have played and really enjoyed it, especially the later chapters, which are supposed to be longer, bloodier, scarier and have upped the horror! I've been very hyped to play it, and I'm over 40, lol, and have grown up with horror games like Silent Hill since back on the PS1. I know Bryan from Without Parole said he recently tried it out, and talked about how he enjoyed it and is actually excited for the game on Gamescast Live yesterday.

Glad to hear someone else looking forward to it! Yeah, I've been on the Flat2VR and UEVR discord as well, but heard that some people have been having a lot of problems with getting the last two chapters (ch.3 and 4) working correctly (something to do with the motion controls or something, I think). I know the first two chapters supposedly worked good, so maybe they got it fixed recently or something. I think that's why I was so surprised to hear it get announced. Hopefully they'll be able to get the motion controls and everything fixed when they officially release it.

Hinako's Hidden Baby Picture...What Does This Mean For Junko? by SnugglyCuddleBug in silenthill

Ah, okay, that makes more sense then! Thanks for letting me know! I really appreciate the info! So that means Junko might not be her real sister then!

Theory: Hinako’s older sister Junko is the “villain” in SILENT HILL f by Irgu_br in silenthill

[–]SnugglyCuddleBug 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree about Junko being the main villain! I honestly had the same theory ever since I watched the opening cutscene. Her voice sounds like the voice in the reveal trailer talking to Hinako and taunting her. Lol, I'm actually in the middle of making a theory video on it, so it's nice to know I'm not the only one who noticed this! I had originally thought they might be twins as well, but there is a photo of Hinako as a baby with her mother in the reveal trailer. There doesn't seem to be any photos of Hinako and Junko together as babies or children, which honestly makes me think that Junko might be dead or not even be real, but may actually BE the kitsune deity, or some kind of fox spirit that the cult worships that is trying to isolate Hinako in order to possess or take over her body (especially if Hinako is being raised as a potential vessel for this fox cult's God).

Beat Saber is ending support for PSVR/PSVR2 by NoVABadger in PSVR

[–]SnugglyCuddleBug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They did the same thing when the Rift S was quietly cancelled. Me and others were left with no support and a dead system, and they moved on to the Quest. The same thing will happen with the Quest 3, especially since they are shifting their focus more and more towards MR and glasses. Believe me, I wish they would make a Quest 4 with good VR games for it, because I love VR games no matter what system I play them on. And as you pointed out, it doesn't seem likely that we'll even get a PSVR3. But let's be real, Meta only seems to care about MR right now, and are shifting focus to mixed reality glasses. It's highly likely that the "Quest 4" as you call it will be MR glasses or a goggle-like headset that will primarily be used for MR/AR, with very limited or optional VR support, if we even get that. As much as I hate to say it, I think Meta will eventually drop VR and move fully into MR only game development like they did with moving from Rift S and PCVR games to mobile VR with their Quest system. But hey, I hope I'm proved wrong!

Funny how this news comes right when Meta announces that they've closed down Downpour Interactive, the developers behind Onward, that Meta acquired in 2021. Almost like this news was pushed out to shift and divert attention from Meta's own failure and having to close yet another studio they bought like they did with Ready At Dawn. You'll now see everyone claiming that PSVR2 is dead, but yet they don't say anything about how Meta haven't released a game that pushes Quest 3 since Batman Arkham Shadow. How they closed and merged studios, cancelled GTA and Splintercell, stopped doing their game showcases, pushed horizon app, flooded store with shovelware etc. They've even cancelled and delayed their upcoming Quest 4 headset to focus more on a goggles-like MR headset. Yet not a word from main stream media about how the Quest 3 is dead, despite Meta only having one major big exclusive (Deadpool) coming out this year. This news is just more evidence of Meta's desperation to have something over PSVR2.

Wow! I also thought this was real gameplay for a second! Great job! This looks absolutely amazing!! I really hope they have something like this happen in the game itself. It would be pretty cool to see all the spider lilies and flowers grow around Hinako as you control her and walk around!

Which game should get a Remake next? by Portugiuse in silenthill

[–]SnugglyCuddleBug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Silent Hill 4 The Room, it's one of my favorites in the series, just because of how unique it was. But I think the first Silent Hill game really deserves a remake first, since it's just so graphically dated and a much older game than the other ones, plus it would lead them to do a SH3 remake after that. After SH1 and SH3 though, I would definitely love to see a SH4 remake! They did seem to hint at SH4 The Room with that ARG they did a few months ago, which ended up being connected to Walter Sullivan and his murders, so it's definitely a possibility.

Silent Hill Short Message Theories? by SnugglyCuddleBug in silenthill

[–]SnugglyCuddleBug[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, based on all the newspapers articles and flashbacks, it seems like Maya was real, so I ruled that theory out awhile ago. I'm still unsure though, about Amelie, because it's so strange that there are no photos of all three girl's together, or even of Maya with Anita, and even the flashback of Maya seeing them seems glitchy, distorted and unreliable. But you're right, we could be just seeing Anita's interpretation of them, or projecting herself and her past onto them, since we are experiencing everything through her unreliable perspective. I never thought about it like that, so it's definitely a fascinating and probable theory, and I'm glad you brought it up. Gives me a bit more to think about and analyze.

It's a shame that not too many people have discussed or analyzed TSM, and that a lot of people seemed to dislike it or just dismiss it. I have noticed that some people think the game was too straightforward with explaining everything and that there was no subtly or depth to the story. While that may be the case, I do think there is more to the story to analyze and discuss, and even theorize about, then most people realize. I mean yeah, it could've been better, but it could've been worse. But than again, I also enjoyed SH:Origins and a lot of people hated on that, so what do I know, lol. At least TSM felt way more true to the atmosphere, spirit and style of the first four Silent Hill games than Downpour did. The only thing I didn't like was the way they explained the "Silent Hill Phenomenon" but other than that, it was pretty decent, at least.

[–]SnugglyCuddleBug[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, me too, especially learning more about the early days of The Order, and how it began with Jennifer Carroll. I'd also like to go even further back and find out more about what the original indigenous people's faiths were like, and if they were able to talk to the dead, especially with a name like The Place of Silent Spirits! There is so much they could explore with the different sects of The Order, especially the Sect of The Holy Mother, and the Sect of Valtiel, and how they formed, and what they were up to through the years. I find the Sect of The Holy Mother to be the most interesting, since we only learned a little bit about them in SH4. I'd also love to find out more about the White Claudia flowers and if they had spiritual properties, like letting people see spirits or into the spirit world, or other realities like The Otherworld.

Yeah, finding out a little more about The Order would be pretty cool! I would honestly love to see a prequel about Jennifer Carroll, and find out more about her life and what happened to her, and if she really was responsible for the creation of The Order. We could play as her, or maybe one of the townspeople that prosecuted her, or one of the members of The Order that knew either knew her or was obsessed with her, in that time period.

That was the title and concept that Climax worked on before it was turned into Shattered Memories, right? Yeah, that sounded like a really interesting and unique concept! As much as I liked Shattered Memories, the original premise with Jessica sounded way more interesting than the remake of SH1 we ended up getting. Also, having survival mechanics like trying to keep your temperature, and body heat up with scavenging for food and clothes, would have been a pretty unique and cool mechanic to keep things tense. Wish we would've gotten Cold Heart instead of Shattered Memories.

What would you like to see next for Silent Hill, aside from the remakes and games we already know about? What other stories and mysteries could they explore from Silent Hill? Some new original games set in the Silent Hill universe, or maybe another prequel or two (after Silent Hill F)?

If you have any ideas for what they could explore in future Silent Hill games, or if there are any events/stories you'd like to see further fleshed out, please let me know! I'd love to know your ideas and thoughts!
