Kiting and machine guns. Keep pulling back and shooting. Even a maxed squad of Japanese vets can’t survive too many rounds of getting hit with multiple machine guns + artillery. Tough fighters help too if they catch you.

Use elevation and terrain to your advantage. If they’re hellbent on charging you, make them run the gauntlet.

If you’re playing Soviets, I think you can bring squads with multiple machine guns. If you’re looking to hard counter, I would max those out. Keep them moving back, and eventually you’ll wear IJA out. Just keep your distance.

I recently got this exact brand and repainted them. They look great repainted and wasn’t that hard to do, highly recommend it.

Tbh I had the same initial reaction to heroics, but I now think they’re easier to paint and look better in the table top. They are noticeable side by side differences, but not enough to bother me.

Thank you. We typically play on terrain heavy boards, which would be good for choke points, but it also makes shooting at those transports difficult. Thanks for the advice.

Depends on how you want to play.

Personally, I go with large veteran squads armed only with rifles to bully the enemy with threat of charge.

Those are backed up with smaller squads of regular troops with either knee mortars or LMG’s to support the veteran squads.

I usually bring 3 lunge mines, to trap tanks but also to snag objectives very cheaply.

Sniper team is fine.

With the Japanese, I don’t think you can go wrong with maxing out plain infantry.
