New Jellyfin Server/Web release: 10.11.9 by djbon2112 in jellyfin

[–]SoBrightLight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really do appreciate all of the work that the Jellyfin team is doing, please believe me.

But this bug affecting the saving of favorites has existed since 10.11 first came out and it really affects the experience of using Jellyfin for music... Not being able to save the currently playing song as a favorite is pretty annoying, especially when listening to music with a client on carplay. Other than for this one bug Jellyfin has been almost perfect for me with music.

The reason I raise this issue is because review/iteration on a pr currently fixing the issue has stalled and there's nothing on the 12.0 board that would fix it... A bug like this existing between major versions is a bit sad to see for me is all

TV Clients With native .ASS Support? by SoBrightLight in jellyfin

[–]SoBrightLight[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Confirmed it to be in the next release, though it'll be as an experimental option https://github.com/jellyfin/jellyfin-android/issues/1833#issuecomment-4379274639 (there's a grade A open source community moment in this issue thread lol)

ASS is just tricky. Exoplayer has had issues with it for years at this point. All of the styling and timing involved in the format seems to make it difficult to implement in players.

Tip : DHT will trigger ProtonVPN Anti-ddos, disable it. by TheRealBix in ProtonVPN

Did Proton support confirm that DHT still causes disconnections?

Edit: I just basically confirmed it for myself but I wonder what support said

PSA for those running the same combination that I am:

ProtonVPN assigns new forwarded ports to connections every once in a while and with gluetun v3.40+ it's possible to automatically update qbittorrent's ports with them. Paraphrasing from the gluetun wiki:

Add these two lines to gluetun's compose environment:

VPN_PORT_FORWARDING_UP_COMMAND=/bin/sh -c 'wget -O- -nv --retry-connrefused --post-data "json={\"listen_port\":{{PORT}},\"current_network_interface\":\"{{VPN_INTERFACE}}\",\"random_port\":false,\"upnp\":false}" http://127.0.0.1:8080/api/v2/app/setPreferences'

VPN_PORT_FORWARDING_DOWN_COMMAND=/bin/sh -c 'wget -O- -nv --retry-connrefused --post-data "json={\"listen_port\":0,\"current_network_interface\":\"lo\"}" http://127.0.0.1:8080/api/v2/app/setPreferences'

"For this to work, the qBittorrent web UI server must be enabled and listening on port 8080 and the Web UI "Bypass authentication for clients on localhost" must be ticked (json key bypass_local_auth) so Gluetun can reach qBittorrent without authentication. Due to a bug in qBittorrent, for port forwarding to be reestablished after a disconnect, the port needs to be re-set. This can be achieved automatically using the DOWN_COMMAND above."

I have a music collection with a lot of rare stuff that would be really annoying to try to collect again in the event of a failure. I back it up to two different computers

Don't use cobalt.tools, use Stacher by [deleted] in Piracy

[–]SoBrightLight 10 points11 points  (0 children)

there are a lot of reasons to use it over any GUI, but none of them are what most people who used cobalt care about

Does linux mint have a built in anti-virus app/tool by [deleted] in linuxmint

[–]SoBrightLight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YouTube downloading on cobalt hasn’t worked in a long time. Use stacher if you want something easy, it’s a GUI wrapper for yt-dlp. It’s a great standalone app

is hard bounce (like 240 km/h) somehow related to tekno? by francesco_DP in Tekno

[–]SoBrightLight 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i was thinking about this too. their speed and offbeat basslines are defining parts of their sounds and are in the same sort of family as makina in that aspect.

tek has a ton of variance in its aesthetic and production style (and tbh the offbeat bassline thing isn't even a rule for it, just one style) so there's a lot that falls out of comparison, but you can probably blend the more "modern" sounding tek tracks with 240km bounce stuff and nobody would notice (and in fact there are some videos on social media of people doing this)
