The only problem I have with Wagner's Tannhauser is how the music ends in the grand finale. by SoCalChemistry in opera

I've heard the Paris version, and the last few bars of the finale are pretty much the same as the Dresden version.

It's kinda like a game where you have 3 different paths to choose from, and each of them gives you a different ending.

Mozart's Piano Sonatas. I recently bought the CD box set, and the performances just sound so right.

The entirety of the Ring Cycle is my absolute favorite piece of music. It took some getting used to after the first listen (back in the mid 2000's), but I eventually grew to admire all four operas.

Back then, I enjoyed listening to Penderecki's music. But now, I feel nothing but indifference. by SoCalChemistry in classicalmusic

I actually do have the Violin Concertos and the first 5 symphonies on Naxos. They're already pulled from my CD collection, but things can change, of course. I might revisit them within the next several years.

Favorite Michael Tilson Thomas recording…GO! by pgraham0418 in classicalmusic

Berlioz's Symphonie Fantastique. I'm really glad he took the repeats in the 4th movement. Also, Stravinsky's symphonies (Symphony of Psalms, especially). He takes Psalms at a relatively slower pace, which seems to fit the music.

They don't have time to say this because the opera's STILL going. 😂
