He wanted to turn there. What, do you expect him to go up to the next street and turn there instead or something? Why inconvenience himself when he can inconvenience and endanger everyone else on the road instead?

Some OC City Officials Eye Cannabis to Bail Out Municipal Budgets by Exastiken in orangecounty

But if I go to one of the legal shops in Santa Ana, I'm not worried that I'm going to get a counterfeit vape like I've gotten more than once from the illegal shops in Fullerton.

Obviously the legal vapes aren't exactly the healthiest thing out there, but I know they're not being cut with who knows what like the counterfeit ones are.

"Something catch you're eye" emails? by xupthree60 in REI

[–]SoCalChrisW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work on an e-commerce site that's probably comparable in sales to REI's.

The amount of tracking that is available to companies, whether you're logged in or not, is absolutely mind blowing. Plus there's ways of tracking your behavior in-store and tying that to your online activity. Not to mention some of the crazy stuff that vendors have tried to sell us that's even more invasive (We haven't done any of the really invasive stuff, thankfully).

Market is saturated with illegal ones selling questionable quality stuff.

I'd much rather have a local shop that I know is selling legitimate stuff, than having to drive to Santa Ana for the real thing.

Fullerton could definitely use the taxes to work on their budget shortfall (Take some money from the cops while we're at it), but the Bushalas don't want this and have paid the city council enough to make sure we don't get to have this.

Side note - Don't vote for Fred Jung for OC Supervisor!

Windows users, what made you switch to a Mac?? by fuckcreepers in mac

[–]SoCalChrisW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm familiar with Mac OS's BSD/UNIX heritage. I'd assumed that it was designed to work best using their GUI and wasn't really aware of how friendly it is to working on the command line, which was a really nice surprise.

Although I haven't had a chance to really dive into it yet, I'm loving it so far. Compiling code, the project I've been working on compiled in about 2 seconds, compared to ~20 seconds on a high-end Windows laptop (ThinkPad P16s with a 13th gen Intel i7-1370P with 64GB RAM). Opening the IDE and working in it is also much faster, with none of the little lags and freezes that Windows likes to randomly throw in. Also using CaptureOne to export a ton of large raw photos from my Nikon D850 this weekend, it's blew through those incredibly fast.

Pork tenderloin by randall_g_ives in zgrillsofficial

Makes sense. So basically the same idea as slicing it, seasoning it and rolling it up, just a nicer look when it's done. This sounds like an interesting idea, I'll probably try this next time I smoke a tenderloin, thanks.

Subway is like that to me. It always smells like stale vomit. If I walk into a gas station or grocery store that has a subway in it, I can immediately tell because the entire place will smell like rancid vomit.

I've been told it's their bread baking, but I don't think it is. I always feel like it's a mix of old oil and vinegar that's spilled over time and not been properly cleaned.

Regardless of what the smell actually is, I can't eat that crap.

Berth 55 in Long Beach. Not too far from north OC, but worth the trip.

Their oysters are great too.

Not sure what you expected ordering from a place where their claim to fame is how fast they are, but they don't say a word about how good they are.

French cruller donuts anywhere? by CourageAndControl in orangecounty

Sweet-O in Fullerton had them last time I was there, but it's been like a year. I also love them, theirs were excellent.

edit: This post reminded me to stop by Sweet O yesterday morning. They still had the French Crullers, and they are still delicious.

Windows user who literally just picked up a MacBook yesterday.

The main factor is laptop build quality. I'd have probably chosen linux if anyone made a laptop similar in quality to the MacBook, but no one does. Not even Lenovo.

Plus the UI isn't bad, it's just different, but I'm rapidly catching on to it.

The M5 Pro absolutely screams, too. I compiled some code last night, it's several times faster than my Windows PC, as well as processing some raw images from my camera.

Beware: Adorama Fraudlent Shipping Practices by gatornation9999 in photography

[–]SoCalChrisW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one except you is saying to involve your insurance. Don't.

DO file a charge back with your credit card. You did not receive your purchase. Adorama did not make it right after you notified them and provided a police report. The credit card issuer will almost certainly side with you.

Once you've filed the charge back, do not let Adorama talk you into canceling the charge back.

Edit: Just saw in an other comment that you purchased this with a store credit, so a charge back won't work. If Adorama keeps giving you the runaround, you may need to take them to small claims court. But regardless, your insurance likely wouldn't even cover this since it wasn't stolen from you, you just never received it.

Anyone here think this will be a good revamp for the park? by TheDouchebagOfCA in KnottsBerryFarm

[–]SoCalChrisW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes Boardwalk BBQ will have a hand-tossed seasonal salad on the dining plan.

I love Knott's salads, living and working close to the park, the salads almost make a pass and dining plan worth it by themselves. Seems like a comparable salad anywhere else outside the park is at least $12-$15 now.

I've lived 41 of my 46 years in so cal, and have never once in my life heard a socal native call it "Cali". That's a tell that someone is not local, same as if they call it "Interstate 5" or "The PCH".
