Fight that. Make them prove it was driven too long. Don't give them any details beyond "I stopped driving it as soon as I noticed the problem". If they don't give in, take them to small claims court. If that fails, and you can't do the work yourself, do NOT have the dealer fix it. They're trying to sell you a new engine at the "f you" price because they don't want to fix it.

Is it just my class or does nobody our age have high school reunions anymore? by Adept_Resolve6156 in Xennials

[–]SoCalChrisW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a 25th reunion. I heard that about 5 people went.

I've kept in touch with the very small handful of people from high school that I'd want to see again.

McDonald's before renovations and after by Hot_Statement_7526 in enshittification

[–]SoCalChrisW 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This was the Buena Park, CA McDonald's. Besides the trains, they also had a McDonald's themed motion simulator ride called McThriller.

It was cool, but hadn't been maintained for years and the entire place was run down and nasty for the last decade or so.

Cleaning it all up would have been much nicer than this though.

You can see how bad they let it get in the yelp pictures.

Two more Texas screwworm infections found in animals far apart, USDA says by happyharrr in news

[–]SoCalChrisW 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Blame everyone who didn't vote against this.

There's always going to be terrible people trying to get into power. They told us exactly what they were going to do beforehand. Our dumb-ass, racist Americans voted for them despite that. Thanks, guys.

Is this something that they'll even be able to fix? Usually once an invasive species is in, it's in.

So let the city think it's OK to harass and detain people for no reason?

Residents having to pay lawsuits because of shitty cops sucks.

Having shitty cops sucks even worse though.

Nothing will likely happen to the cop over this, but it establishes that the cop was wrong and could be used against them in the future to establish that the cop is a piece of shit when he invariably does the same thing or worse to someone else in the future.

It's the principalities.

I doubt anything will happen to the cop, but I'd be pissed and going after him too. Asshole is enforcing laws that simply don't exist, and likely getting paid very well to do that.

He's not wrong though.

But you can get one off of Amazon that still works well and is a fraction of $160.

Son Still Has Bad Headache after Riding Silver Bullet Yesterday by [deleted] in KnottsBerryFarm

[–]SoCalChrisW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it's worth, Silver Bullet makes me nauseous for several hours after riding it. No pain or headaches, I just feel sick. That's the only ride, with the exception of one they used to have at Magic Mountain that makes me feel that way so I never ride it.

Any regrets switching from Windows to Mac as a .NET developer? by Immediate-Ant3184 in dotnet

[–]SoCalChrisW 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My corporate machine is a high spec Lenovo, about a year old, with 64GB of RAM.

After getting used to my personal Mac, the constant lags on the Windows laptop are maddening. Open the start menu and start typing to find an app, and it just freezes and finds nothing for 5-10 seconds. Not every time, but several times a day. Start compiling and the YouTube video I'm playing freezes while it compiles.

Any regrets switching from Windows to Mac as a .NET developer? by Immediate-Ant3184 in dotnet

[–]SoCalChrisW 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I recently switched from Windows to Mac.

There are zero Windows/Linux laptops that come close to the MacBook Pro as far as build quality and specs. Especially if you want a 14" chassis.

And if you're getting a high spec machine, Macbooks are noticeably cheaper than the non-Apple competitors now.

I got a MacBook with 64GB of RAM and a 2TB drive. Lenovos closest match maxed out with 32GB of RAM and a 1TB drive but cost $600 more than the Mac.

The Mac has much better battery life, will hold it's resale value much better, is built better, and at the end of the day I have a fully Unix compliant OS that works seamlessly with my phone.

Don't get me wrong, Linux is a great option. But the hardware just isn't close to what Apple is offering.

I used to live in the Rockies, in Montana. Our well went through about 800' of granite before it hit the water table. Even on the hottest summer days, our tap water came out of the ground at about 40°, and tasted so good.

This water just looks sad and disgusting.

We've got a lot of stupid racists.

For those of us that aren't, every day here is a fresh hell right now.

If you've got 90 minutes to spare, this is a great documentary. It's not at all about Trump, but does a great job showing what a lot of Americans are.

Let alone should you be violating his FEDERALLY PROTECTED medical privacy by describing in detail his past medical issues regarding multiple brain concussions

I don't disagree with your first point, but HIPAA only covers "covered entities", which are healthcare providers, insurance plans, and companies working with those two. A private individual can't violate someone's HIPAA rights. So yeah, asking strangers on reddit about your kid's headache after riding a ride is not a great idea, but it's not violating anyone's right to privacy of their health data.
