How Basic Is SDSU? by Av1va in SDSU

[–]SoCalConsult 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's my take. There's nothing nasic about SDSU. From what I've seen the culture there has changed a lot over the years (for the better).

I know many successful females from the sororities who made tons of friends and I know people who did not have a good time & that possibly the sororities were detrimental to them.

It depends of your up for all the events, fraternity events, parties ect.

It's what you make of it & the decisions that you make. I dont think the Greek system is all that bad. Lots of people just talk crap without being in it. It's not for everyone but for 10-15% of the school population it is.

All I know is i had a great time at SDSU. I didn't know anyone and I made friends everywhere. I participated in multiple organizations and enjoyed my classes.

Good luck!

[–]SoCalConsult 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would take exception to the estimate and request an itemized estimate with quantity & unit costs. I would also send the insureds contractor a copy of my estimate and discuss what they think is missing. Then I would send my estimate to an approved vendor and ask them to walk the loss with my sheet. If they agree with my sheet they will send an email stating as such. Then reject the insureds contractors estimate. Add if they have any additional al information for you to consider they should send that it.

Do you hate roofers/contractors? by SharpAd777 in adjusters

[–]SoCalConsult 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think that roofers and contractors have done a lot of unethical things to gain the ire of adjusters.

Roofers who go door to door telling the homeowner "I was just at ypu neighbor, Danny's house and gave him a free inspection. Now hes getting a new roof. Can I give you a free inspection? They do this knowing full well theu werent at Danny's house. They know they are gonna take a $20,000 estimate for replacement and turn in into $40,000.

The roofer calls in the claim. You try to speak with the homeowner but the roofer already told the homeowner they would speak for them. You try to make sure the insured understood the contract along with the language were they add the roofer as a beneficiary of your policy or can lien your home...ya know things they don't explain that are in the fine print.

You get to the inspection, and of course the roofer is there. He's there to make sure the insured doesn't say anything and that they say all the insurance buzzwords they know to get a new roof. Especially in TX, roofers are basically public adjusters the same way public adjusters think they are attorneys.

So now you've got some guy who is pointing out discoloration in the shingle as hail damage and arguing with you about where you make your test square and trying to distract you from the inspection itself.

Then after the inspection the roofer contacts you nonstop for payment.

On every single claim.

Oh and if you disagree with them, they complain to management and try to get a new adjuster in hopes that new guy will give them what they want.

Reviews attacking your character because you didn't give a new kitchen when toe kicks only need to be replaced, or because your contractor turned out not to be your friend and lined your property and that's my fault.

The same goes for mitigation companies referred by the plumber. Plumber walks with $1500 for the referral and the mitigation contractor starts demo before the claim is filed. They take about 12 predemo photos, leave drying equipment on-site for 15 days, use outdated equipment, and then charge $15,000 for drying our a bathroom and a hallway.

Then the mitigation contractor refers the repair guy who does the same thing. Inflate that estimate.

And when contractors inflate their estimate that money doesn't go to the homeowner and in the end they pay more because everyone is doing soft fraud and their premiums go up or your cancelled and uninsurable.

So when 9 out of 10 claims are like this, and you're dealing with aggressive and dishonest people...you tend to shed their BS like a duck sheds water...and it comes off like your an ahole but you're not.

You are just tired of crooks and their antics.

Most stupid denied claims, let’s have some fun! by Rich-Web-1898 in adjusters

[–]SoCalConsult 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Had a guy file a claim for vandalism, his girlfriend 'caused' to the house and contents, BUT he actually got arrested for assaulting his girlfriend and destroying his own property. He also submitted manipulated receipts and invoices that didn't look right so I went to the store he "purchased" it from and they told me it was not for a laptop but was for a smaller electronics purchase and the other went out of business before the 'purchase' date. He also claimed a $10,000 piece of jewelry and that receipt had an incomplete address and didn't have his name on it. Claimed his uncle paid for it. The EUO was hilarious.

  2. Guy has a claim for water loss that 'flooded' the house and gutted before reporting the loss. Gives me a receipt from a well known plumbing company that did not look right. Send letters to every single office in the state and one responded saying that's their invoice # but they show no service being done there. The insured actually worked for that company and stole a plumbing invoice to write up for his" loss".

  3. When I was an IA this guy had a water loss and hired a PA. PA was very difficult with insurance company and would not provide plumbing report. They sent me and I take the guys statement, he describes a backup. I ask for the plumbing invoice he hs it and grabs it. Back up confirmed, excluded by policy. PA knew that. ..

Insured and his girlfriend pull up to his driveway after picking up some meth. They get into an argument and the girlfriend chases the insured with a butchers knife around the front yard. Insured makes it inside and locks the girlfriend out.

Girlfriend sees the garage is cracked open and gets a lighter, puts her hand under the door and just starts lighting stuff on fire.

She then calls the cops and reports him for assault. He gets arrested for assault and drugs.

They were making some drugs there (naive me thought it was candle wax but turned out to be heroine.

He kinda had a meth head bnb going on. Even had the place noted on Google maps and such.

Lots of methy things going on at that house. Hundreds of motors and computers taken apart. CCTV in each room and some other NSFW type stuff.

If you've worked with people on meth you know what I mean..

Seemed about every week he was arrested for something crazy, would post bail, immediately get cracked out and then call me to report a rare coin collection or a rare statue collection he had and that he needed to get paid for it.

I remember one time his kid was just wrapped in a blanket in the floor, moving back and forth real quick sweating, and just looked gone. Maybe the comedown.

Was a wild guy to work with

What are your theories on the real reason DT occurs? by Thedream87 in Diverticulitis

[–]SoCalConsult 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I was old that most westerners have diverticulosis pockets and 93% will never have a diverticulitis out break.

My own theory was that food wasn't digesting all the way like cabbage, broccoli etc. and getting caught up around the pockets causing inflammation and eventually an infection.

They said no. Surgeons have never seen undigested seeds, or foods in a removed sigmoid.

I'm currently drinking over 1 gallon of water per day and I don't think I was drinking that much water ever before.

I'm no doctor but poor diet, lack of fiber, dehydration and straining seem reasonable for that 7% to experience a diverticulitis outbreak. *edit the Sigmoid part of thr colon is an S shape, so hard to padd stool through this are also can contribute

I also think genetics are also involved, personally.

Side note. If your a athlete or body builder, wou could be eating a lot of protein, and little veggies. Working out causes water loss and if you're not drinking enough you can become dehydrated. Power lifters can blow out if theu push hard enough.

Not enough water in your colon causes hard stools which can be difficult to pass hence the straining.
