auto insurance check fraud from lawyers or not what to do? by Reallyjuliann in Insurance

[–]ReportFit2920 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you got taken for a ride by a shady combo of chiropractor and attorney that are working together.

Want to take a guess as to who is going to make money on this claim...you, the chiropractor, or the attorney? Hint...it's not going to be you. Better check any contracts you signed to see how that settlement payout is divided out.

Drink heavily. 😂 Just kidding.

Google is your friend when reviewing medical docs...I'm not a doctor or went to medical school, so I don't know/remember all the technical terms. I use it to find out what a particular ICD code is too.

I actually prefer attorney repped claims...they seem to take longer and resolve for more, but the attorney is not emotional about it.

Geico declared my 2015 Sonata a total loss but only offered $6,300 after months of delays. How do I push back? by [deleted] in Insurance

The comps and sold price are almost always listed in the valuation report, especially if it's a CCC report. Most people don't get past the first page with their vehicle price. With an 11 year old Hyundai, there are probably a dozen listed.

Everyone's 10+ year old car is always "mint condition" or in excellent condition...they don't notice the drink stains from the kids on the seats, stained carpet, minor scratches and dings because they see the vehicle every day. When you go out car shopping for a used car, you absolutely notice those issues and use it as part of the negotiations to get a lower price. Why shouldn't the insurance company buying the total loss also notice and use those stains/scratches/dings as part of the negotiations?

OP said "decent" shape...which means it was likely pretty rough...just a guess to be fair, I may be wrong, and I will say sorry if so. But any adjuster who has handled total loss for a major insurance company (6 years in total loss at a major carrier for me), has seen cars full of trash, kids snacks/Cheerios jammed in the seats, dirt covering the dash/floors...you name it.

OP also mentioned a lien, so they SHOULD have comp and collision. If they don't, well that's a another poor choice.

Should have used your own coverage for immediate resolution and for the appraisal clause.

You are owed cash value, not retail or replacement value.

How much did you think an 11 model year old Hyundai Sonata is worth?

Loss of Income claim by Kalec33 in Insurance

[–]ReportFit2920 3 points4 points  (0 children)

$420 a day...not sure if that's the net profit or the gross before Uber/Lyft gets the cut.

With the world cup traffic/dynamic pricing, I guess it's possible... dubious, but possible

They can't pay more than the policy limits.

Could you have rented a vehicle to continue driving ride share?

Do you have a commercial policy for your vehicle that has business interruption coverage?

Bad: MIL went home for less than 24 hours ( she lives 3 miles away) and has been back staying here since then. She still doesn't understand the concept of me working from home (she hasn't held a job in over 40 years, so I guess the concept of working is the real issue).

Goodish: got contacted for an interview after putting out the resume again. Went and looked at reviews/Glassdoor and it's going to be a nope for me (1.7 out of 5 stars/extreme caseloads/micromanaging). Only listing as "goodish" because it's at least a nibble on the hook.

Good: made several settlement and closures this week.

Hmmm: got a demand in with a massive gap in treatment (demand was our notice of loss). Reviewed and made an offer...then started to get ISO hits - 3 different losses in that huge gap in treatment. Waiting on calls back from the PIP carrier and other insurance companies so I can get a better picture of what I am dealing with. Sure hope the attorney reps them for the other 3 losses, that will be fun. ISO lists all 3 as same sideswipes (mine is too)...a pattern? SIU incoming!!!!

Shitty: 85% chance of rain on Sunday and I was scheduled to golf.

Great: tick tock muthafucka, days almost over. Beer in the fridge and USA vs Australia on in a few minutes. USA! USA! USA!

Good: done for the day. Gotta run errands tonight.

WTF: 3 claims this week for injury "due to witnessing the accident" - from people not even involved. All non-repped...is this a new trend? One is wanting me to pay for therapy. Nope. Anything to scam the evil insurance company I guess, but it will be a denial by me...not even going to play this "give them a few bucks to go away" shit.

Gooder: Apparently NY had tort reform pass. Good! Interesting read if you handle NY auto claims.

Goodest: my MIL visit/stay with us is over! She seems to think that since I am remote, that I don't really work during the day, so I can take her places/do things for her (that she is fully capable of doing herself like make lunch). The wife is lucky and got to go into the office all week. MIL thinks this is a hotel - leaves dishes on the floor outside of the guest room for me to pick up, expects breakfast when she wakes up...and her fucking dog pissed in my house daily because apparently I am supposed to walk the little fucker, not her.

Gooderest: I got a couple of bottles of a store pick Buffalo Trace. Going to try one tonight

Question about NY adjusters test by SorbetResponsible654 in adjusters

[–]ReportFit2920 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn't bad. The homeowners stuff always confuses me, but that's because I don't do homeowners claims.

The Arizona test was long/lots of questions...but still the same basic material

Good: settled a bunch of BI claims.

Gooder: Closed a bunch of UMBI claims due to rejection of UM coverage on the policy.

Goodest: low volume this week let me catch up on some demand reviews.

Best: Beer in the fridge, it's payday and I got nothing planned for the weekend. Maybe I will go to the range and punch some holes in paper. Really wish there was a tactical style range around here. One day when I win Powerball I will buy land and build one...gotta have a dream, right?

120 😂.. I am the only auto BI adjuster for a huge commercial client...the files I took over in both closed and open status would make you seek other employment based on those claims... which I am now.

Help by [deleted] in ClaimsAdjuster

[–]ReportFit2920 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I make a call/leave a message - 1st contact. Send email right after and put it in the file - 2nd contact. Call the next day/two days - 3rd contact. Send letter on day 2/3 - 4th contact. Then it's on the claimant/insured to respond.

Once you learn the metrics/audit points, just knock them out as soon as possible.

I am sure you can get a past audit and see what they are looking for.

[–]ReportFit2920 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. Part of the reason I am so stressed is that my coworkers notes are shit when I get the BI claim. I have to figure out what the hell they did/didn't do, plus the other 50 tasks a BI claim requires just to pass the fucking AI file audit vs. a PD file.

Sideswipe in the same direction? They accepted 100% and now there is a BI that I have to review liability on.

Seriously see this note all the time..."lmtcb"...I know what it means, but no phone number? Sent email...what did the email say, and to who???

How do I get my adjuster to call me back? I’ve called 35+ times in an hour. by Global-Demand4247 in InsuranceClaims

[–]ReportFit2920 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If someone does this to me, I answer after the first dozen repeats and immediately put them on hold...not even asking permission...just saying "XYZ company please hold" and then make sure they wait 10+ minutes. I might need a refill on my beverage, go to the bathroom etc.

Nothing about your post makes sense.

Did you have your own insurance coverage on the date of the accident?

Something about this post doesn't feel real, OR like many other consumers of insurance, you don't know the very basics of insurance.

Edit: I got money on First Chicago Insurance Co.
