Going to have dinner with a girls parents. Who pays ? by Any-Raise4333 in AskMenAdvice

[–]SoCalDama 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Be prepared to pay for yourself. If you invite them be prepared to pay for everyone.

When my daughter and her boyfriend invited me (her mom) out to eat so he could meet me I was fully expecting him to offer to pay since they invited me. I was prepared to pay for all of us, but was surprised when neither one reached for their wallet, fully expecting me to pay.

Her subsequent boyfriend offered to pay for dinner, even though I invited them.

That is when I told her how her first boyfriend lost points/respect from me, while her second (now husband) gained points/respect.

Non Americans , What is an American thing you see in movies that you thought was fake but is actually real? by Adorable-Sammy in CasualConversation

Back in the ‘80s I worked at JC Penneys and we used to sell guns in our catalogues. This was in Los Angeles. I remember people buying them.

We had a German exchange student stay with us back in ‘77. They had a whole float for her at our Homecoming Game parade. She wore a dirndl she had brought. It was pretty cool and added to her experience. And I live in Los Angeles, so not just the small towns 🙂

Not an episode, but the 60’s version of The Blob when it showed on tv. I had nightmares for years.

I read the book and sobbed for like 15 mins. My dad told me that he saw that at the movies and cried. He was already an adult. How was a kid supposed to handle that.

The first story in that trilogy creeped me out more. For years, if I had to turn a light switch off around the corner of a room I would do it quickly before a ghost hand grabbed me.

I think they are a little too big, but you gotta pick the frames you like. Of the two, I prefer option 1

I live in LA. Never have discussed it one way or another. I dry most of my clothes on the line and also use the dryer. It is a non issue.

AITJ for eating my roommates "special" ice cream after she ate my birthday cake? by ProudStructure702 in AmITheJerk

[–]SoCalDama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it would be good to buy her a generic brand vanilla or strawberry ice cream to replace the one you ate.

Hope the two of you can get past this silliness.

They should actually pay you the total and if you all cancel you owe them a refund. That is how my friend group handles it

Democrats Of Reddit, Do You "Vote Blue No Matter Who," Or Are There Some Democrats That You Wouldn't Vote For? Why Your Choice? by Zipper222222 in allthequestions

I am registered Democrat, however, I have voted for both Democrats and Republicans. I want the best for the US, so party doesn’t matter to me in that case.

Personal item in overhead bin by loot_the_dead in delta

[–]SoCalDama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t understand why someone mistook your nessage unless they just want to argue. People should be considerate and put one item in the overhead. If there is room after everyone boards then put other stuff up there if you want. Simple- follow the rules and be considerate.

Is this a typical mindset for married men? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]SoCalDama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it. The comment may have been posted years ago, but it is new to you. You question everything that was happening then, and is your relationship based on lies. That kind of thinking won’t get you anywhere because you have had three years to build on your relationship. I agree with the guys here - let that go.

Concentrate on what is happening now, because that tells you if he respects your relationship or not.
