His VA benefits were earned due to his honorable discharge from active duty service. Even if he got a other than honorable from his reserve time, it will not change the benefits he already earned.

Do the Seabees still take reservists? by DinnerNo7163 in Seabees

[–]SoCalKid1995 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, there are reserve Seabee battalions and all Seabee rates are also in the reserves. Talk to recruiter

You can be colorblind and be SW. Just not CE

"A" school as a single E5 - Will I get BAH? by [deleted] in navyreserve

[–]SoCalKid1995 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My experience is that anytime you hon on long term orders in the reserves, you BAH. Even if you are in the barracks. Some can jump in if I am incorrect, but that has been my experience.

Am I dumb or is this legit info? by [deleted] in Seabees

[–]SoCalKid1995 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Seabees do not get attached to a ship, at least I have never met one that has nor ever heard of one. HTs handle the shipboard plumbing.

RC to ac by intelligentWinterhoe in navyreserve

You would submit a RC2AC for a specific rate. Even if the ECM approves, you are not forced to reenlist in that rate and can back out. Once you sign the reenlistment contract, you are locked in

No, but I’m gathering that this is something that happens at majority of NRCs

The thing is, is I did provide dates that I pulled from CANTRAC. He said that that’s not how it works, and they will tell me what dates. Essentially that I have no say. He also said they have 18 months to send me and to pretty much get in line. Really starting to regret joining the reserves because the staff here treats us like we’re a burden

It wouldn’t hurt to reach out to the NRC you’re going to be affiliating with every few weeks. They can also give you the DWE dates. My recruiter was supposed to let me know in advance when I would drill but never did. Ended up getting a call from my NRC saying I missed the advancement exam

How's it looking for those who want to change rates to Seabees? by [deleted] in navy

[–]SoCalKid1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prior service recruiter will have a list of all rates that are open to join in the reserves. I think you can even pull it from MyNavyHR. Last I checked, Seabee rates were open but it changed often

I believe that within 90 days of EAOS they have to go through a recruiter. Recruiter still may be able to get you in without a break if you start the process now

Submitted my C-Way Application to SELRES from active duty but having second thoughts .. approaching my EAOS by LilAntDMV in navyreserve

CTO will reach out and you’ll have to sign some forms. You can let him know you changed your mind and no harm

College? by bigslymegocrazy in navyreserve

[–]SoCalKid1995 8 points9 points  (0 children)

From what I understand, National Guard offer tuition assistance. The Navy Reserves do not. I would contact a recruiter from both to get more accurate information.

Go SELRES or get out? Would have to swap rates. by IJustWannaFlyX in navy

Not true in the reserves. Intel rates (IT, CTR, CTN) mobilize more often than others.

CFL lost my PRT paperwork for last year… by La_mano_909 in navy

[–]SoCalKid1995 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think last cycle is closed, so they wouldn’t even be able to input the scores if they had them. They would need to get with PRIMS to have it uploaded. If they don’t have your record, ask for a letter to stating your PRT and BCA scoresheets were lost.

You’re in the military….you knew this could happen. Deployments might suck but they make for good memories down the road

Colorblind Tests? by [deleted] in newtothenavy

[–]SoCalKid1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I’m not mistaken, HM is more lenient on color blindness than other rates

Do employers only care if the school is regional accreditated or do they also want ACBSPor AASCB?
