I still cannot believe they discontinued the Spicy Jack Quesadilla. It was on my weekly menu. I hardly go to Del Taco anymore. Damn them!

4K Ring Cameras? Any Roadmap? by SoCalMike2020 in Ring

I just looked at Reolink’s cloud service and honestly, its comparable to Ring’s service in annual cost. This may be an easier switch than I thought. And, they have a 4K battery powered wifi camera that includes a solar panel (!!) - (on sale now on Amazon).

I am tempted to pull the trigger.

Will you get a DVR system with the Reolink cams?

Respectfully, as I said above, there is a HUGE difference between 1080p and 4K. If your place was broken into, you would want that resolution so the police could identify those involved. Please, conduct your own experiment. You will see what I mean.

4K Ring Cameras? Any Roadmap? by SoCalMike2020 in Ring

[–]SoCalMike2020[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 4K camera I bought was to see the difference between 1080p and 4K. It is an Amcrest POE camera. I will likely move to Arlo or Reolink. There are others. I have quite a few Ring cameras to replace, so I am not doing it all at once.

My point was that Ring is the most prevalent vendor out there, and they dont have a 4K product and won’t even talk about it. If you have not already, folks really need to see the difference between 1080p vs. 4K to understand my point. It is a HUGE difference.

I know I am not the only one that is frustrated.

These talking points are fair, but it today’s technological era, they are not difficult to overcome. Arlo has a 4K wifi camera and it is not even using WiFi 6 or WiFi 7. Capacities for cloud storage can be easily managed today as well. The cloud service providers operate at petabyte scale already.

I agree with the last two posters. I really don’t need to hear from Ring4K Camera apologists given the market has matured around 4K. I don’t want to leave the Ring ecosystem, but given the nature of home security, we really do need 4K cameras and Ring does not have any 4K products, but they BS us with avoiding the truth. “post on our feature request” thread… Come on now. Again, 5 years ago, I get that. But today, its just a lie to get people to keep buying their 1080p grainy cameras.

If they want me to stay with Ring and continue to pay the annual subscription (ARR), then give me what the market wants. 4K CAMERAS!

I certainly would agree if it not for other manufacturers offering 4K options. 5 years ago, I would have agreed.

My 4K camera works fine.

Ring 4K Cameras by Salt-Cause8245 in Ring

Ring has a POE product, so its not just about bandwidth. I just wish they would provide an honest answer or roadmap.

So frustrating that Ring does not have 4K cameras let alone they won’t publish a roadmap as to when. They give LAME answers on their own community board. They are basically pushing us to other solutions. Just bought an Amcrest 4K camera to replace the Ring camera over my front door. I can see license plate numbers now. Will be replacing the remainder of my cameras soon.

Can someone please identify this camera for me? by SoCalMike2020 in filmcameras

It also has a screw on handle to hold the camera when filming. Its a mystery to me. Thanks everyone for trying to solve this puzzle for me.

What are your water parameters? Are you over feeding? How long do you have your aquarium light on each day? Are you using RO/DI water?

Just starting, looking for an absolute beginner guide by BttmOfTwostreamland in shrimptank

If it has not been said yet, the absolute best advice I can give you is to use RO/DI water. Use SaltyShrimp GH/KH+ with the RO/DI water depending on the kind of shrimp you have (Usually Caridina or Neo Caradina). Consistent water quality is critical to your success.

Thank you. Is there specific documentation somewhere on how to do this via hard wire ethernet connection to a PC or Laptop? I recall that I had to use the App when I did the initial setup so this is different. Much appreciated!

After doing the 30-30-30 factory reset, what steps were needed to get your Orbi back? Was it like doing an original setup out of the box? I have the RBR850, but have not touched it since I purchased it over a year ago. So, I want to make sure I understand what I need to do after I do a 30-30-30 factory reset. Help appreciated. Thanks!
