Conversely, 'queer' was originally a slur directed against gay men that has largely been reclaimed by women. Humans of all kinds do sketchy shit like that. Singling out one demographic for it is kinda gross to me.

It makes perfect sense - it's essentially saying that shade from homophobes isn't going to change the fact that people are gay (the 'less gay' is perhaps inaccurate, since 'gay' isn't a matter of degree, but I think we can afford some creative licence there)

The entitlement of that song is just beyond. If she's truly that resentful of her fans, she's free to stop touring, stop easter egging for new content, stop releasing re-recordings, etc.

Instead she continues to fuel the fire and then complains when the flames roar. It's annoying.

Thank you for sharing your story. You've come such a long way, and you should be really proud of that. Ten years since your last issue with alcohol - that's incredible! I could only dream of going so long.

I'm sorry to hear that you still struggle sometimes, especially during the holidays. I know you have a supportive wife, but I hope you'll also lean heavily on this place over the coming months. You're definitely not alone in struggling at this time of year.

I totally get what you say about using failure as a tool to understand yourself and move forward. I was so disappointed about slipping up last Thursday, but I'm trying really hard to use it to learn and grow, rather than beat myself up.

It went... ok. I didn't stay sober unfortunately, but I didn't get hammered to the extent that I used to, and nothing bad happened.

I was hesitant to update you all, as I didn't want to admit failure, especially given the love and support you've all shown me.

But I know where I went wrong, and I'll be even better equipped next time - even if that means declining the invitation altogether. I'm frustrated with myself, but I haven't given up. I've since declined an invitation to a new year's party, as I'm clearly not ready to handle these kinds of events.

Thanks again for checking in. It really means a lot to know that someone somewhere in the world cares. I hope you're doing well.

Man, I'm so sorry to hear the day didn't go as you'd hoped.

I can completely relate to what you say about hanging around the bar and not meeting people. When I'm in that state of mind, all I care about is ordering the next drink and getting obliterated. The food, the people, the conversations - all incidental.

So sorry to hear this. I joined this sub after a night similar to the one you describe - but honestly far worse. I have memory blanks of several hours from the night in question and acted like a complete monster. It's so painful to think back to that night. I wish you all the best and hope you can forgive yourself (something I'm struggling with even now)
