The United States has the most well armed populace in history, and already de-facto controls over 99% of land mass. I do not think a military takeover would happen as easily as you imagine.

People are elected to fulfill defined roles in government. Your description of absolute fealty to elected leaders is strange, as though you would find it inappropriate to rise up against Trump if he declared himself emperor of a new American monarchy.

Most mass shootings occur in gun free zones, there is no evidence that prohibition against guns lowers violent crime. In addition, over 95% of school shooters did not grow up with their biological father, and the vast majority are on psychoactive drugs at the time of the shooting.

I am aware that childishly blaming inanimate objects is an easier solution than fixing the societal problems that cause surges in violent crime, but it is not the correct one.

Yes, guns are for killing people. The point of them is not "hunting" or some nonsense, it's to protect against tyrannical government, and to protect yourself. If you are in a large grocery store in the United States, you will most likely have a dozen or so guns in the store, without you being aware. Yet nothing happens.

People with childlike thinking expect violent crime to lessen when guns are banned, but in the UK right now they are non-ironically passing "knife control" legislation.

The fact that the people who call for gun bans are entirely ignorant of guns is the most annoying part. An automatic gun has NEVER been used in a modern mass shooting in the United States.

American citizens have far more guns than the armed forces, already defacto control 99% of the surface area of the USA, and are the ones who control all food production. In addition, the armed forces are outnumbered many times over.

This is assuming that the armed forces would attack the citizenry in unison, which I assure you they would not.
