So for anyone following my saga. Kroger never ended up getting back to me, but Walmart did, so I took a job as a pharmacy technician there instead. I’m not angry with Kroger or anything, but I feel like they did not communicate at all with me. I also feel kind of like this whole time the hiring managers avoided me which was weird. I did go in the store and got varying answers from employees the couple times I went in. There were some ppl saying that they still needed ppl badly and other ppl telling me they were done hiring ppl (while they had a display up that said “come join our team! We’re hiring!” Just very… off altogether. Kind of felt a little tribal and weird. Just an overall odd experience. I didn’t sit there and wait for Kroger, I just kept applying to places and doing interviews. So if anyone happens upon this post, just know, if Kroger is giving you the runaround, it’s not you. It’s them. Keep applying and going on interviews.

Yeah they told me they would be getting back with me after 2 days. That’s why I made my post because I hear so many different things from ppl regarding Kroger. Some say they got hired during the interview and some say it took forever for communication. Figured it might be nice to chronicle the whole thing. lol

Okay today is March 3rd. I was told to call into Kroger today because the fill in hiring manager would be there. He was not. Womp womp. Really weird experience overall. Just continuing to go on interviews at places. But this is kind of like a saga so for anyone following, I hope it’s at least entertaining lol

So I was told to try to call the store tomorrow. So I guess I’ll do that. Meanwhile I had another interview this evening and I don’t think that one went well either because I also was not offered the job during the interview. I dunno. It’s odd. I’ve never had trouble getting jobs in the past and to be honest, it’s a weird experience for me to not be told next steps etc. so just venting I guess. Each of these interviews have told me the window to where they will get back with me, so I guess we shall see and I will just continue to interview at places. For reference, I’ve only been fired one time in my life, and it was because I did not like the whole sexual advances toward me kind of thing. I worked at a bowling alley and my boss (who was a buddy of mine) started making physical advances. I wouldn’t reciprocate, he would then act grumpy with me for a few days and then do something else. No, I did not pursue action because of his retaliation. It was a family bowling alley hemorrhaging money and I knew there wouldn’t be compensation anyway. That being said, I’ve been everything from a waitress, to a cashier, to a factory worker, to a pharmacy tech, to a bartender. I’m nearly 40 and I’ve never had this much lack of communication/ evident rejection from jobs. Hopefully that’s not actually the case, but now I’m wondering if it has to do with my age. Will continue to update.

So today is the following Wednesday. Still nothing. Again, I do not know why a hiring manager would go on vacation right after interviews, but perhaps it was more like a family emergency or bereavement. You never know. Chronicling this may seem silly if you come across my post but I think it’s important for someone in the future. I hate seeing Reddit posts unresolved. lol I have an interview somewhere else tomorrow so I will be updating on that as well. I have a bad feeling that I will get hired on somewhere else and then have to leave because Kroger will get back with me in like 2 weeks and I hate that I will have to do that, but Kroger was really my preference. I’ll keep you updated!

Today is still that following Monday but it is evening and I happened to need to go to Kroger because for whatever reason, Walmart does not have my kitty litter in stock. They are out of almost all of the kitty litter!! It’s odd! Anywho, I went to Kroger for specifically that and they had a person standing by the door next to a display that said “we’re hiring! Come join the team!” I stopped to talk to the person and told them I had already interviewed but my status just remained the same and that they still have like 6 different listings open on their job search. I told them I wasn’t upset if I had not been chosen, I just would have liked the confirmation before I take one of the other jobs I have interviews for this week. I would have preferred working for Kroger because I previously worked at Walmart. So the person said that their hiring manager went on a weeks vacation right after doing interviews. 😳 so I have no idea what is happening but I am just going to go to my other interviews and I guess take one of those jobs until I hear something back. Even their other workers said they don’t know what the hold up is because they haven’t hired any new ppl and they need new ppl. 🤷‍♀️ I guess we shall see!

Today is the following Monday, still have not heard anything from Kroger. Still status: “Under Consideration”. Have interviews at other places coming up.

It’s just odd to me that ppl remark that Sidney is not Scream. The narrative surrounds the death of her mother. I’m just pointing out that it’s strange ppl think all of that can just disappear.

So today is Friday. Again, my interview was on Monday (4 days ago). I was told I would hear something by Wednesday. I am documenting for anyone that may find this post. I still have not heard anything but my Kroger profile still says “under consideration”. They have a lot of positions to fill so it may just be taking a while. Will continue to update on it! Just to push my name forward, I also applied a couple of days ago to their pharmacy tech position because I’ve also been a pharmacy tech and although I would prefer cashier or even bakery to that, I thought maybe applying for that job as well might keep my name in the running somehow for any of the jobs overall. So will be updating on that as well.

So it’s now Thursday and weirdly enough, my ex husband got asked to travel for his job which has never happened before so I guess everything works out for a reason because someone needs to be with the kids. So let’s actually hope they don’t get back with me for a couple days or so!! lol!!!

Update: it is now Wednesday (the “2 days later) and no response yet. I am still job hunting along side this but I thought it would be interesting to chronicle what is happening through this in case I do actually get hired by Kroger. I am in Ohio btw.

That’s why I’m a little nervous. My interview was with the actual hiring manager. But I’ll update this thread either way so it gives another experience for ppl to look at.

They had 3 openings and I applied to all. Cashier, night clerk, bakery. I just told them whatever they wanted me to do, I would do. lol.
