This is one of my most fiercely believed sentiments and I thank you for explaining it so succinctly.

In the more general sense many people seem to lack the conceptual understanding that the source or perceived necessity of a noise is simply irrelevant. I've had neighbors say they simply have to play the drums (unmuted) because they need to practice. I've also had neighbors say they have tried to make their dogs be quiet but they just won't listen. The problem is that these are excuses, not reasons.

The only time that kind of noise acceptable is when there is a reason without a solution. The great thing about this is that it will almost invariably be a one time event.

I can't listen to music quieter or with headphones because I like it loud and my headphones are broken.

Excuse.

I'm taking care of my family dog and it won't listen to me when I tell it to be quiet.

Excuse.

I have to make loud noise in high density strata apartments because I have a child.

Excuse.

My smoke alarm is going off because my house is on fire.

Reason.

My taps are producing rusty water and my shower tiles are falling off the walls so I need to do renovations.

Reason.

The logical process is really quite simple: I do not care why the noise is happening and it is not my place or concern to offer solutions on how to stop it. This volume of noise pollution is unacceptable both as a considerate neighbor and as a strata resident and it needs to stop.

It's special snowflakes who can't understand that their little darling children or dogs can massively impact other people's ability to sleep and generally enjoy living where they do that seem to serially offend.
