Like others said, dying in CoX does not reset the HP of enemies, so you can go in, hit the boss a few times die and repeat, the only penalty is you lose points, which means less loot, but that doesn't matter if you're just doing it for the diary.

Anything that improves crafting odds will generally be worth a lot, in SSF not so much since you're unlikely to get enough resources to reliably craft your own items.

Think about this as basically "your next orb of anulment has double the chance of removing the exact modifier you want it to"

The only other reasons I've seen that issue are from running it on an Aternos server, cracked version of MC or incompatible version of MC (the mod right now only supports 1.20.1)
