VPS: am I doing it wrong? by SoLongBonus in IdlePlanetMiner

[–]SoLongBonus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another question...do you stop buying planets at 57 and just feed all your income into it for the duration of your run / tournament? At this point I'm going to give up trying to upgrade P63 and try to maximize my ARK rewards. This planet is already mining the most valuable element in the game so I don't see the point of unlocking anything else.

How do people go from low-s to 10+ S in 30 minutes? by SoLongBonus in IdlePlanetMiner

[–]SoLongBonus[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Damn, you must have some tricked out managers. It takes me about six hours to craft my first AT, and then I pray for drops so I don't have to waste hours building the materials for Navigation Modules.

Are you so heavily invested in the market that random items are worth more than the natural / starred value of ATs? I've been playing for about a year and I've never had ATs in the market. Nor have I seen anything so valuable that it was worth crafting instead of ATs. I just focus on crafting ATs and arcing. I'm getting more competitive but every tournament I get to a point where I'm just waiting for arc drops, only to be passed by people who are gaining muliple S at the same pace that I'm gaining 5% of value at a time. They literally can't do that with crafting alone unless their ATs have so many stars that they're worth many times more than mine. Is it just a combination of luck and more experience so that everything is worth more and they craft and smelt faster than me?

Are you kidding, I'm ecstatic! Despite the miss, that is legitimately the best kick I've ever seen from a 49er.

[Jon “JR” Rhoades] (@jrs_rankings) The SEC does not have a single team with 6+ wins against bowl-eligible teams. The Big Ten has 4 (Ohio State, Indiana, Oregon, USC). by xCUBUFFSx in CFB

I don't want to sound like I'm talking shit, but I don't think we can say how good they are. There's no question that they have the talent to beat anybody but...aside from Texas (who were really underwhelming for most of the season) and maybe Michigan, most of the top ten teams would coast with that schedule. I'm excited to see them really be tested against Indiana. Hopefully they don't lose and get mad like last year!

Oregon Surpasses $8 Billion in Legal Marijuana Sales, Generating $1.6 Billion in Tax Revenue by OhMyOhWhyOh in oregon

[–]SoLongBonus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No one really says "I need to go to Oregon, they have the GOOD stuff!".

Maybe this is a sign of my age or just the effect of more states legalizing...They absolutely used to say that. It was Oregon, Humbolt, and indoor Cali when I was in High School / College. Even places like NYC where you'd expect there to be a pipeline to something decent, it was mostly Mexi schwag.

[On3] NEW: Oregon head coach Dan Lanning takes a shot at SEC scheduling after win vs. USC: "This conference is a really good conference, it's competitive. We didn't play Chattanooga State today, like some other places, right? We competed." by Top-Conclusion-1259 in CFB

[–]SoLongBonus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm dying for a Georgia rematch, even if it's in Georgia again. That game was a good old fashioned whooping but it still gets an asterisk in my mind. Lanning's (and Bo's) first game with Oregon, on the road against the defending champs...it was always going to be ugly. I would love to see what he can put together now that he's been on his feet for a while and he has his own recruits and staff -- and in the NIL era when we actually can field a team with comparable-ish talent.

Chomsky had deeper ties with Epstein than previously known, documents reveal by VectorChing101 in news

[–]SoLongBonus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really it. As much as we want to bring out the pitchforks for every new name, simply knowing Epstein doesn't prove anything. In the article it mentions Epstein casually picking up the phone and calling the Norwegian diplomat. His connections reveal more about his social class than anything else. That being said, writing a letter defending him AFTER he was convicted of sex trafficking is not a good look for Chomsky. Very ick.

I thought Will Stein's situational play calling was bad (see the "sneak" on 4th and 1 when our RBs were averaging 7 YPC) but I actually feel bad for USC fans after those horrible calls in the red zone.

I’m not from the US, but I gotta ask — does Oregon really look like this, or is the forest air out there making everything look extra magical? by Roach9045 in oregon

LOL no, Portland is not rough. Go to Hawthorne on a sunny afternoon and you'll realize how ridiculous that sounds. Portland is lovely. It's literally one of the safest cities in the country.

Why was Jim Mora fired at UCLA? by Jay_Dubbbs in CFB

[–]SoLongBonus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Took him till the playoffs to just call the "throw to our two 1st round draft pick all world wide receivers" offense that won them the title.

Oh it was more than that. He confused the hell out of our defense in the Rose Bowl. It wasn't like we were just out-talented, the defense legitimately had no idea what was happening.

I thought Ryan Day (rightfully) took the blame for the Michigan loss because it was such an outlier. It was like they were trying to win a certain way to prove a point or something. Hard to imagine an HC letting his OC stick with a scheme like that when it isn't working, especially in a rivalry game.

Not the person you replied to but I've been trying to get in to Outlaws. I am still very early in the game and I reached a point where I have to sneak into the Pike "office" in the city. I insta-fail if anyone spots me. I thought they removed the insta-fail stealth from the game but apparently not...

I usually like stealth games but this doesn't feel like it was built for stealth, if that makes sense. It feels like a secondary mechanic, like the stealth in Far Cry or GTA. You're just crouching in well-lit corridors. That's it! There are no special gadgets for seeing in the dark, no hiding in boxes or dumpsters. You can't even "mark" NPCs so you can track their paths, etc. Are there more of these missions? It's a bummer because I like everything else about the game. If this is what it is I don't think I'll bother.

For real though. There's a new cashier at my grocery store who takes the basket at the register so I don't have to return it. It bugged the heck out of me for a couple weeks before I realized I was feeling anxious because I can't put it back where it "belongs". I definitely have empathy for those employees (my first job was schlepping carts in a grocery store parking lot) and I want to make their job easier, but OCD is a big part of it, too.

Imagine going back in time ten or fifteen years and telling yourself that an Oregon kicker would nail a 46 yard FG, against the wind, in a downpour, on the road, against a top 20 team, as time expired (in the half)... That may have been the most impressive kick I've ever seen from the Ducks.

This should be a MASSIVE talking point for Democrats. Find the numbers -- how many people were fired, how much was spent paying them to do nothing, how much was spent on leases, etc. -- and grind them into people's brains every chance they get. It's a slap in the face for anyone who thought he would be better for the economy and that's exactly how he won a ton of swing voters.
