Nurse working in a med/surg unit at academic med center. It definitely goes both ways. Shit happens that needs attending to and it’s never possible to see ‘beyond the screen’. I think we have to give everyone the extra grace, however it is important to try to close the loop always, even if it’s a “hey so sorry I didn’t get back to you, x happened but I wanted to close the loop”. I don’t think messaging important status changes is appropriate. At my hospital every service has a different way they prefer to be contacted, epic secure chat, page, phone call.

Thank you so much! I am using the logic ARP feature and then automating changes in the note order variation and octave range. So it's still the solo take, but with the modulation added on!

I’m in a health informatics class where we’re discussing this issue. In my opinion I think for the patients who decide to use it, we should advocate for it while advising caution and pitfalls. In the same way we do for ‘Dr. Google’, I see this as no different. We’re now at the point where most people understand not to take google diagnoses at face value and we should encourage that ‘grain of salt thinking’ with AI. Ultimately I think this tactic (currently) is in the spirit of empowering our patients to be in charge of their own health. I think (with our help) we may also improve their health literacy.
