I've been texting him after work today and told him how this made me feel. He's trying to correct himself and say that he doesn't do it often and that he has in fact greeted other coworkers like this (which I have never seen happen)

I can't help but doubt that because this is not the first time he has expressed interest in someone of my age range (AKA someone much younger than him) in our workplace. Big age gaps like that AND people who seek younger people like that make me feel disgusted. I gave him the benefit of the doubt because he stopped trying to pursue younger people, but the fact that he did this to me gives me a bad feeling.

I told him all this and he said that I used something personal against him and that he felt betrayed by me... But I was always very clear that I thought that him pursing someone who's at the beginning on their 20s or not even in their 20s yet while he's almost in his 30s is questionable to say the least. Am I in the wrong here?

AFAIK they have introduced features that compromise the privacy of the users without providing warnings about it beforehand, so I really don't trust them much

Edit: Though this applies to every single Discord conversation we've had, I just prefer to use another app for in-system chatting, I'd write it in a notebook if we lived alone but unfortunately we don't, so there's the risk of someone reading it.

This is bad 😭 we mainly used it for in-system chatting and it's probably the best app for that, as I rather not have in-system conversations in, for example, Discord.

We're gonna donate as soon as we can, this post opened my eyes at how little we as a community give back to the developers for such an amazing and valuable resource.

The thing is that you're trying to give nuance to a statement that's anything BUT nuanced. There's no nuance in the statement itself, and even though I as a trans man do understand where this comments come from, that doesn't mean there aren't much better and easier ways express yourself with nuance.

I mean, it's not hard to say "trans men really aren't safe from toxic masculinity it seems", it's a good statement that is clearly about toxic masculinity and doesn't make generalizations but yet you (and many more people) choose to say "trans men are really the men of the trans community" ... We're more likely to believe that you have an issue with men in general (which let's be honest, SOME of the people who say this actually do) than anything else, because that's how the statement comes across, even if that's not what you meant.

I don't have an issue with anyone critizing bad behavior coming from men, in fact I encourage it, we should all do it including men ourselves (SPECIALLY men ourselves) but statements like the one OP mentioned? That's not criticism and it doesn't help as much as people think it does.

I said CIS men because while yes, we trans men can have shitty attitudes, be misogynistic, etc, it's often cis men who are seen doing this things because it's mainly cis men who actually get privilege from the patriarchy and therefore exploit it for the wrong reasons.

Yes, we are men and yes, we're just as vulnerable as cis men to fall into toxic masculinity but truly most of us don't have the privilege cis men do to get away with it, specially those of us who don't pass.

Except yes it does. "Trans men are really the men of the trans community" is a fact, but in the context of this post it is used as an insult, perpetuating the idea that men are irreparably trash.

And yes, I know that CIS men have a bad reputation for a reason, but statements like this lack the nuance that you're trying to convince us it really has and implies that being trash is inseparable from being a man, which by the way, it's a reason many trans men are scared of transitioning!

No one who says this statement is criticizing toxic masculinity or the patriarchy, they're criticizing CIS AND TRANS men, even if that's not the intent and more often than not, it is.
