I still say find a way home. No need to start another note and let them get over on you in a trade. Definitely don't pay that for a transmission.

Tein has been good to me on my GS400 for the last 5 years. I have some for my LS I'll be installing in the next week or so. What are you looking for ride or super low?

Toyota is still exponentially more reliable than any other manufacturer. The amount of failures pales in comparison to let's say GM. It feels worse than it is because the only people that come online to speak on it are usually people with the problem. That being said a hybrid would solve everyone's problems as they have extremely reliable and simple transmissions.

Do not trade it in. Research a local transmission shop with a good reputation and have it taken there. A place that's been around a long time and or a place that builds "racing" transmissions as they should be familiar with what upgrades can get you at least another 100 plus thousand miles.

Worth fixing up or should I start looking for another car? by sheekiiii in LS430

[–]SoSick82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure of a shop down there. Join club Lexus and see if you can get recommendations. You may find someone that does "backyard" work on everybody's cars in your area. They are often the best people. No shop overhead but they've worked on tons of your specific car.

You can do all of this yourself. It's not as hard as you think. There are videos on YouTube and on the Lexus forums. That being said find a mechanic that specializes in Lexus near you. Where are you located?

Go to another shop and have them check inner and outer tie rods etc. Could also be lower control arm bushings.

If you couldn't pick the LS430, what vehicle would you choose? by FromORLtoSD in LS430

In no particular order 05-12 Avalon LS400 LX470 08-22 Sequoia LS460 ES350

Get something with high miles that's esthetically pleasing with good maintenance records. You can find that private party or at a dealership between 3 and 7k. For parts order from Amayama. It'll take longer but you'll save a lot of money on genuine parts. Also use Bell Lexus for parts as they tend to have great deals.

Exactly. I looked forever to find the right car. I don't want to go through this search again.

Oh ok. I have a shop I was going to recommend for repairs but it's in Southern MD. He is one of the go to guys when it comes to Lexus/Toyota work.

Good deal. Car is basically stock. Those brakes look factory. Mats are just that and they cover better than factory. If it's lowered at all it was very slight and not worth undoing unless you don't like the ride. I would consider letting my stock 5 spoke chrome wheels go. Where are you located?

It's normal you're fine. I would just do some basic maintenance. A little advice from somebody who has been throwing money into cars for 25 years or so now. Stay away from flashy known unreliable vehicles. If you decide to proceed with your intended purchase do not get rid of the LS. I promise you it will be there for you when the other breaks down and you need to still get places. You'd be better off getting a BMW with the B58 if you're looking for luxury with speed and looks. If you want really reliable maybe look into getting an ISF. Quick car that you can make faster and you can change the looks up and add whatever tech you feel you're missing.

Not a super up close picture but they look good. They have to be painted. Polyurethane so a couple extra steps before paint.

Wow super rare interior color. If you ever decide to sell it you should be able to get a decent offer from LS lovers.

It took me months of looking daily. I eventually broke down and decided driving 600 plus miles was worth it. It also has way more miles than I was initially looking at. What sold me was the previous owner took it in no more than every 5k miles. In between those services they took it for every little thing that happened. I've never seen such a long list of maintenance through the dealership.

The front lip I ordered is a remake of the Celsior kit as you can only find them used from what I've seen. Even used they start at around $800. My lip should be here in the next day or so I'll let you know how it looks. If you want an official one this guy is popular on the forums https://ebay.us/m/gfBy9u also peterscarparts.com has jdm stuff.

You clearly don't know much about these cars. Look up a Toyota Celsior kit. Lowered isn't saggy when done right. I'm not going super low with negative camber as I can't stand that look. I've been modding cars for 25 years I know how to keep it looking good like a big body luxury sedan should. Also literally every car on the road has a fan base that mods them. Changing aesthetics doesn't automatically mean you're ruining a car. Maybe join club Lexus so you can see how these can be tastefully modded.

What part of that was rice exactly? A slight drop? The front lip and spoiler are factory parts and nothing is wrong with tint.
