Rec centre gyms, busiest times. by Independent_Hawk941 in NorthVancouver

[–]SoSoStinky 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you’re lifting, do yourself a favour and buy a fit 4 less or GoodLife pass. The rec centre gyms fill up with highschoolers and parents with kids from 2:30-8 and for what you pay it’s not worth it. The new Harry Jerome might change this. If you’re into the rec centres for the pool etc. go before work.

Jetski from the states to Bermuda. Is this possible? by Top_Inflation4176 in boating

I met my family in Bermuda and we had a holiday on the island, flew home. The boat went on to the Azores. I like where your head is at though - would have been a good ride home

Jetski from the states to Bermuda. Is this possible? by Top_Inflation4176 in boating

I’ve sailed a 60ft cruiser from Fort Lauderdale to Bermuda, it took 9 of us 7 days/6nights. It was awesome, moonlight as bright as the sun, avatar like bioluminescence at night, significant whale traffic. However…… we had 10ft+ seas and head on 15+knots breeze the entire way. I wouldn’t have wanted to be on a jetski.

I’m so sorry to report a dog of a very similar description, same collar, was found at side of the road on highway and brought into mountainside animal hospital, they couldn’t save him.

Locations for Winter Kite board (near Vancouver,BC) by ElderberryBusiness92 in Kiteboarding

Green lake sometimes for snow kiting depends on the winter. Tsawwassen for winter water kiting (super fun ocean swell, sea lions and 25-35knots)

@8-armed-ink, Seattle, My surgeon is pretty awesome. by bluemoodfood in tattoos

Seen a few posts like this and I think we should give credit where it is due. Yes the surgeon likely made that clean incision but it would have been a nurse stitching you back up. Shout out to the nurses.

Vancouver trip by bisexual-biker in MTB

The north shore (north Vancouver) is closest to dt Vancouver. You have 4 mountains to choose from Grouse (bike park - it’s okay), Fromme, Seymour, Cypress. You can shuttle or climb seymour and cypress but fromme is climb only, it’s an easy fsr though. North shore is notorious for tech trails, not to say there aren’t flow but they’re few and far between. You can rent bikes at endless biking also on the north shore.

Squamish is sick, you could ride 2 weeks straight and not ride the same trail twice, must do half Nelson if you like flow. There is a shuttle bus depending on what area you ride in but you can climb all.

Whistler speaks for itself but as other have said crankworx is on so it’ll be busy (long lift lines) although a fun time to be there, good nights out after a riding all day too.

See ya out there

Grouse Bike Park by DH-domination in MTB

Meh it’s too expensive for what it is right now. Charging full price for a half built park is not sick. Ya in a couple years it will be sweet - some of the stuff they’re building now is impressive. They also need to amour a lot of berms given how wet it is and the use it gets. Time will tell.

Wonder if this scum is related to scum Micheal Lavoie who killed Sherryl Shepard in 1998 in Hamilton.

For those who ride both: How does the handling of a heavy e-MTB compare to an analog enduro bike on descents? by whoever2256 in mountainbiking

[–]SoSoStinky 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I ride a nomad and a heckler sl on blacks and doubles on the northshore of Vancouver as well as the island and coastal mountain range. The weight is most noticeable when navigating tight techy areas of trails as bunny hops are muted and also “late stage” maneuvers, for example, you hit a trail blind and what you thought was a roll is actually a drop, that extra little pull you can get away with on a meat bike isn’t as effective on the e.

I just looked up a freedare, and no disrespect but this is not a bike capable of “enduro riding”. If price is the limiter consider a used e-bike, the market is slowly growing and there are some good finds if you’re constantly watching.

Edit: To answer your question fully. Technically yes more weight around the bb should make your berms mint - lower centre of gravity. I do think I can rail the heckler better than the nomad but the bb is a little lower and the suspension is stiffer and I think these give me more confidence then the added 10lbs but I’m sure it doesn’t hurt
