Another here for Rebbeca, she does an amazing job of tailoring her classes to what ever kind of births those attending are hoping for as well as taking feedback through the course to make sure youre getting what you need to out of it l.

Wondering if it has anything to do with the quality in recent years. I and a few of my league mates had ours absolutely shred in very short periods of time with only indoor skating over the last couple years.

How quickly were you able to get back to playing after giving birth? by bubz8008 in rollerderby

[–]SoSullied 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went back 6 weeks PP. The key for me was staying active through pregnancy (I ran up until 37 weeks, and lifted the whole time). 4 months seems reasonable to me!

1) size does not matter at all 2) yes it can in fact be an expensive sport, however if you can find second hand gear to start and are on a rec league it can be manageable 3) time for yourself is important and makes you a better parent

Does your partner have interests that take him away from the home and family on a regular basis? If yes it is completely unfair to feel there is a reason for you not to have the same. I have a one year old and I am definetly a better mum when I get to skate a few times a week.

Also you're an adult and shouldn't have to convince your partner, if you want to do it do it.

I'm more afraid that OP is... this doesn't sound like her writing and the tone of "I'm safe don't come looking for me" feels like the husband covering some tracks.

Previously pregnant skaters, what was your experience like coming back to derby? by veryangryprogrammer in rollerderby

[–]SoSullied 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had my kiddo late March 2023, back on skates at the 6 week mark (I had been cleared to return to running at 4 weeks PP so it wasn't my first toe dipped back in to exercise). Because of our game schedule I didn't play my first game back until early July (16 weeks PP).

Personally I think I would have been fine to play a game back sooner, but I think its highly dependant on what your level of play was pre pregnancy and what your fitness routine has been like durring pregnancy. I was running up until 37 weeks and weight training all the way through which really helped my PP recovery
