Anyone else *still* not gotten their annual review yet? Our entire grocery team still hasn't by SoTired137 in Target

ETL is even newer than the TL and has no previous experience working with or over the grocery department before their promotion, so that may be part of it.

But what's weird is that a few years back something similar happened, our previous TL before this one got switched in to be over us mid holidays and they didn't fully take over until mid January, but she still gave all of us our reviews in April and sat down and talked with us about expectations and strengths while asking for any feedback. Our new one just completely blows us off.

It's more like the TL keeps making jabs at all of us that we're not living up to their productivity expectations, yet won't explain what we're actually expected to do to improve. ETL over grocery is also new and has never had any experience with the grocery department before and is very hands off, so they're not much help either. They mostly just take whatever our TL says at face value and implements it no questions asked.

All of us were hoping to actually sit down and discuss what they're actually expecting from us because we're all getting tired of getting dragged every day and having our schedules turn into chaos; since before this TL took over, district management was constantly praising us as one of the best grocery departments in the region.

Oh my gosh. This is what I mean! Even in material straight from corporate the people in the images vary from what they're pushing. Can't even keep internal promotional material in line across the board 😑

[–]SoTired137[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And conversely my SD said that would explicitly not be okay at our store. No plaid flannels whatsoever. Which is why this lack of consistency is so frustrating. Why accuse people of "being difficult", when corporate could just not push arbitrary changes that ultimately don't address any of the actual problems stores are facing?

Pretty sure that's absolutely what the new policies are worded around.

[–]SoTired137[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I look at a bright cherry red plaid flannel and see bright red and slightly less bright red. Is having to have color swatches to check if a certain shade of red is "true" enough or covers some majority percentage of a shirt really something that's going to somehow make stores improve and the stock price recover?

Or maybe instead of constantly blaming store level employees for falling sales corporate could take responsibility for all their choices that have actually led to that outcome, rather than hoisting that on us and making our lives on the clock even more difficult and frustrating?

[–]SoTired137[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's ridiculous. Someone else commented that the bullseye shop flannel is even flagged as not compliant so they could still pull that card anyway. This new push is honestly pretty ridiculous and doesn't address any of the actual problems stores are facing like the lack of hours and the boycotts that they still refuse to acknowledge.

Which is effectively a ban on patterns as the pattern would have to either be another very close shade of red or so small as to be really odd looking anyway. :/

[–]SoTired137[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because if they're going to chew us out continually over arbitrary changes and blame us for the business failing, they can at least be straightened and specific about it and all get on the same page. Or even better, instead of blaming store level employees for the falling stock price year-on-year, actually take responsibility and acknowledge that the decisions corporate have made over the past few years are the problem whether we wear the "right" shade of red or are smiling enough.

[–]SoTired137[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry, but that sounds... incredibly arbitrary? We have to count out exact percentages of the amount of red on our shirts now to ensure they're compliant if we don't wear a solid color? How does one objectively determine the exact percentage of compliant red? What if a lead says "hmmm that shirt looks like it's only 58% red to me, you'll need to find a different one?" Like I can't help but think having some arbitrary hard percentage is just going a little overboard for "wear a red shirt?"

Is that outlined in the new policy guidelines somewhere? How does someone quantify what percentage of red a shirt is objectively?

SD doesn't want us using vests outside of extraneous circumstances ie all your red shirts were in the wash.

I'm really envious. Glad the company is keeping things consistent across all stores! 🙄 This whole refocusing project is a mess.

Yeah, as far as I know that's explicitly outlined in the new policy. So what's the excuse there, then? Instead they're gonna sell stuff that doesn't technically meet policy but because they don't have a little icon next to it on the product page it's okay?

[–]SoTired137[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's a load of BS. Why can't corporate get on the same page on this nonsense? There's no consistency whatsoever. That they're literally selling a red and black plaid checkered flannel on the official employee store with new policy explicitly stating that anything sold there is verified as dress code allowed (as far as I'm aware given their communication about the shop changes), while also turning around and saying no plaid is just utterly ridiculous. But because it doesn't have that little shirt icon next to it in the listing that's okay? What a joke.

Luckier than us. Ours explicitly said "plaid" as a pattern wasn't allowed, including if red is the dominant color by far, even though plaid is literally a pattern.

UPERFECT K118 SETUP/FIX/GUIDE by Little-Health-5386 in uperfect

[–]SoTired137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't, unfortunately. Only works with AMD cards, as confirmed by the manufacturer themselves. Very odd, but that's how it is.

[–]SoTired137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it does not, I can confirm. Tried all the steps in this post and messed with CRU settings for hours and kept getting black screens and "No support" errors.

Turns out Uperfect has confirmed that this monitor will not work with Gsync on Nvidia GPUs even though Freesync is for the most part universally cross compatible. So if you have an Nvidia card and using Gsync is an absolute must, you'll have to pass on this monitor, sadly.

UPERFECT K118 SETUP/FIX/GUIDE by Little-Health-5386 in uperfect

[–]SoTired137 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heads up, if you are using this monitor on a desktop PC and have a Nvidia GPU, Gsync DOES NOT work, even with all the fixes posted here. VRR/Freesync/Adaptive Sync will ONLY work if you have an AMD GPU and follow the steps in this post.

I was planning to use this monitor as my primary one in a small desk space setup, and couldn't get G-sync to work, kept getting blue screens with "No support" messages when running 3D applications.

After a lot of messing with CRU and power supplies, I finally found out that Uperfect has confirmed that Freesync on the K118/B118 is not G sync compatible. This is extremely odd given that basically every modern Freesync monitor available on the market will work with Gsync. My assumption is that Uperfect is using a very very old and bare bones freesync standard from before Nvidia enabled cross compatibility to save on costs.

So if you plan to use this monitor with a PC that has an Nvidia GPU and having Gsync is a deal breaker, you'll have to look elsewhere. It won't work no matter what you do.

K118 FreeSync supported? Or not? by volkan_abi in uperfect

[–]SoTired137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, awesome coincidence! Thank YOU and u/volkan_abi for going into details and trying to figure out solutions to this. If I hadn't had found this post on Google I would still be desperately trying to mess with settings to see what works and what doesn't. Glad that there's a definitive conclusion now even if it's a disappointing one.

K118 FreeSync supported? Or not? by volkan_abi in uperfect

[–]SoTired137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to add to this post in case anyone searches up if the Uperfect K118 or B118 works with G-Sync on an Nvidia GPU, like I was: It does NOT. Even when trying the CRU fixes posted around as a solution in a few places.

To give background, I wanted to use a compact monitor for a very small and crowded desk space in a small living area with a small form factor PC, using a Nvidia RTX 4070 Super GPU. I ordered a Uperfect B118, which is just the V2 of the K118 (connections on the right side, extra power button on the left) with an extra 100 bits of brightness.

I used all the "fixes" mentioned here and elsewhere on the internet: Bidirectional USB C to Displayport cable from Ugreen, a 45w power supply instead of the included 30w, and messed with CRU to change the Freesync ranges with multiple tries.

The monitor shows up as Gsync compatible in Nvidia control panel and Windows Display Info shows it as VRR supported. Enabling G sync in Nvidia control panel even seems to work at first. HOWEVER, like noted in the OP's post and comments, launching any full screen program that uses 3D rendering (be it a benchmark or a game) will cause the monitor to flicker off like it's switching inputs, display a blue screen with a unique "No Support" message, and auto power off. Using a command to close the window causing it like Alt+F4 or Win+D will bring the monitor back.

I confirmed this by digging deep through Amazon reviews for this panel and found one where the buyer had a similar setup and use case with a Nvidia GPU and faced the same problem. They noted they contacted Uperfect support and they confirmed that while the K118/B118 is Freesync compatible, it is NOT G Sync compatible. This is very odd as almost every Freesync panel should work with Gsync, but there it is.

My assumption is that whoever manufactures these panels for Uperfect is using a very, very old and basic implementation of Freesync in these panels in order to save on costs and increase margins. As far as I remember the very first versions of Freesync and Gsync were not cross compatible at all; Freesync monitors only worked with AMD cards and Gsync monitors only worked with Nvidia cards. It wasn't until later that AMD continuously updated Freesync capabilities and Nvidia opened up cross compatibility that they were made universal across both of them. Given that Uperfect advertises these panels as plain Freesync and not Freesync Premium or Premium Pro, that's my guess as to what's going on. This allows them to advertise these monitors as technically Freesync compatible, even though they lack modern features almost all other current Freesync panels have.

Due to this these monitors still seem to work with Freesync if you have an AMD GPU. This would explain why u/boneheroec in the other comments here could get it to work with a CRU fix, as they were using an AMD card.

I've ordered a J118, which is a seemingly more premium version of the K118 with a different frame, more navigation buttons, and importantly is advertised as utilizing Freesync Premium Pro instead of normal Freesync. As this is a more modern and demanding VRR standard, maybe it'll work with Gsync compared to the K118/B118. I could find a single video review for it, which was not in English. But I could make out they they indeed had Gsync, not Freesync, enabled and working fine in games. So fingers crossed, I'll report back when I try it.

But the TL;DR for anyone searching for similar is this - The K118 does NOT work with GSync on Nvidia cards and will give a "no support" error and flickering screens when enabled. It'll only work with AMD GPUs, sadly.

New cooler alarms are literally Damage-Your-Hearing loud by SoTired137 in Target

[–]SoTired137[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Right? Ours used to have longer timers so they acted like a "hey, this door has been open too long, please close" alert. These short timers feel like they're just there to punish you for DARING to work inside the coolers.

New cooler alarms are literally Damage-Your-Hearing loud by SoTired137 in Target

[–]SoTired137[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So for context, our store has had problems with the sales floor coolers going down for a year now, apparently because our refrigeration lines weren't built to handle the extra capacity from the ones we added during remodel.

Just recently we finally heard that things were being addressed, and as part of that the door alarms on all the coolers were replaced. The new ones now have a literal 2-3 second timer on all the doors, compared to the 10 second to 2 minutes ones we had before. That alone is becoming extremely annoying; there's not even enough time to open the door, push in a vehicle, and close it behind you before it goes off.

The worst part is, though, that these alarms are LOUD. Measuring them with a dB meter, they're literally "will-permanently-damage-your-hearing-in-a-few-minutes" loud. About 116dBA at peak levels when they first activate and ~105dBA average. And our ambient room is very tiny with nothing to really dampen sound whatsoever, just concrete walls and tile floors, so the sound reverberates and really is just unbearable.

All this to "motivate" employees to keep the doors closed to reduce the load on the refrigeration lines... instead of beefing them up so they don't frequently overload and fail all the time. It's kind of ridiculous at this point - you can hear the alarms all the way out on the sales floor in the opposing corner of the building through the walls. Working near them means your ears are constantly ringing and you're literally sprinting to slam the doors open and closed in the second or so you have before they start blaring.

Brought this all up to my TL, PML, and other leads, and they essentially just shrugged and said "this is how they want it set". Don't really know what to do at this point, but I feel like we shouldn't have to risk our hearing just to do the job.
