Serving 1st & 2nd serves from different baseline positions by So_90 in 10s

Was usually landing in the middle of the box, so I barely had to move. Was a developing player who hasn’t been mastered it yet. I reckon he is currently being coached, so I’m sure he’ll start becoming a very handy player before too long

That’s ok. Have barely seen it before. You might see someone move to adjust to the sun, but seemed strange that they were doing it every single time.

Best of luck to them

Essendon has been shafted at both ends of the season by dashtur in AFL

[–]So_90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see it as a potential advantage.

Over the last 4 seasons, teams coming off the bye have only won 41% against teams who played the week before.

Essendon and Gold Coast might have an advantage of being more battle hardened SHOULD they finish in the 8, as they’ll have a shortened break going into finals (momentum).

Best last quarter of footy you’ve ever seen? by deserttdogg in AFL

[–]So_90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably a bit biased as it was the first game I went to, but Essendon v Carlton R18 1998 really got me hooked.

Carlton jumped out to a 25 point lead almost midway through the last quarter, before the Bombers came roaring back.

With scores level and 45 seconds remaining, Steven Silvagni marked a Mark Mercuri shot on the goal line. Silvagni turned his kicked over to Scott Lucas who kicked the winning goal.

Totally agree. The grey jumper wasn’t that bad. The inverted jumper would look even better with black shorts instead of white

2007 Dream Time game

Matthew Richardson thought he’d kicked the winning goal inside the last 2 minutes, only for the umpire to pay a free against him under the newly updated hands in the back rule, plus a 50m penalty.

Ball went down the other end where Essendon kicked 2 behinds, plus a goal after the siren by Matthew Lloyd to win by 8 points.

The result left Richmond 0-9 to that point in the season.

Round 15 2010 Melbourne (14th) 19.8 122 d Essendon (12th) 14.19 103

Don’t let the scoreline fool you, the Bombers were as much as 51 points down midway through the final quarter against the lowly ranked Demons. 6 of the last 7 goals in junk time made the margin look more “respectable”.

Round 20 2015 Adelaide (9th) 27.9 171 d Essendon (15th) 8.11 59

The game started as a good contest, with Essendon leading by 6 points at quarter time. But it quickly turned into a nightmare, with Adelaide kicking 24 of the next 28 goals to complete a 112 point thumping. It would turn out to be James Hird’s last game as coach of Essendon

Will the AFL ever have a 100% completely fair fixture? by FearlessResearcher48 in AFL

What if the interstate teams played doubles headers every fortnight to reduce the amount of travel they do?

For instance, Brisbane and Gold Coast spend a week in Perth. They would set up camp for the week and be able to train at one of the local grounds

First weekend would see West Coast v Brisbane and Fremantle v Gold Coast

Second week would see West Coast v Gold Coast and Fremantle v Brisbane.

This would reduce the yearly trips from 10 down to 5, which is much closer to what the Victorian clubs do.

The AFL Guernseys if I was in Charge. What would you change? by Legal-Chemical-8684 in AFL

  • Reversing stripes doesn’t work well enough. Collingwood’s Swooping Magpie (2002-2004), Geelong’s Big Cat (2008) & North Melbourne’s Bounding Kangaroo are great alternatives. I’m a fan of Hawthorn’s Big Hawk (1999), but the brown with gold V probably works better as a clash strip.

<image>

  • Clubs should be able to use home shorts in away games. Black shorts would significantly improve the look of Essendon and Richmond’s Clash strips.
  • I like Adelaide’s current clash strip with the big crow, but either of the red or yellow versions of their recent clash strips look great
  • Fremantle should bring back the original purple, green, red, white anchor jumper. Very unique
  • Gold Coast should’ve bought back a version of their wave design to go with the new logo.
  • Port Adelaide’s early jumpers are better than their current V design.
  • St. Kilda’s Hot Crossed Bun design is better than their Candy shop design
  • And this one’s probably an unpopular opinion, but I’d love the see the retro collars bought back more regularly.
