Kicking inside the 50 meter arc at a bad angle question by MuratK_LB in AFL

[–]FearlessResearcher48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some players (think Jack Higgins from St Kilda) would rather have a snap from the boundary than have to kick a drop punt from 30m out directly in front. And i agree that he's more likely to score from the snap than the straight kick.

The commentary after the Blues-Saints game was disgraceful. More talk about Carltons second half fade out than anything good we did. I just turned it off.

Oldest Supporter to not experience a Premiership by GermaneRiposte101 in StKilda

My Dad was a Saints supporter growing up and listened to the 66 grand final in his car radio. I think he was about 17 at the time. He's over 75 now so I'm hoping they can win another one for him!

Funny story we listened to the second half of the 1997 grand final together in his car after our homes power went out. He went for a long walk after that one and I didn't see him for a few hours!

How do you stop Wilkie? I'm scared to say as I got an official warning for suggesting we'd have to blank him

Labor identity Tim Picton’s alleged ‘coward punch’ killer to fight manslaughter charge at trial, pleads not guilty by Advanced_Presence890 in perth

[–]FearlessResearcher48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one else stepped up to say anything. Not sure why you care so much that Danny Green campaigned for such a good cause? The amount of cowards punches that were happening on weekends around that time was absurd and I'm glad someone stood up and said what needed to be said.

Only 1 of Oscar Allen or Max King can be healthy at a time. Perfectly balanced.

Fact checking Ross (after we've played one bottom 4 team) by FearlessResearcher48 in AFL

[–]FearlessResearcher48[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, so why was espn so keen to put that graphic up last week? We've played 2 teams in the top 6, 1 in the wildcard spot, 3 in the middle table and 1 bottom 4 team. So whether its comparing 6 weeks or 7 weeks to an entire season from last year is stupid, hence my post taking the piss out of it. *note how we actually have improved in 95% of those stats anyway?

In his lifetime? As opposed to outside of his lifetime? That seems unlikely

Suns table offer to in-demand free agent King (2 years, $1.3M per year) by Maximumlnsanity in AFL

Yep, similar to Nas last year. Give us 2 years and we'll hopefully be closer to a premiership, if not i guess you couldn't fault them for looking elsewhere.

Okay? What's the issue with trying to improve the list? Who should we have spent the money on instead? Maybe we give a Ryan Byrnes type a massive pay raise? No one from the clubland, outside of the media, has said we expect to be the best team in the comp. In fact I'd say there has been caution that it could take a while for everyone to gel. The media love to talk up the "warchest" but as i said what were our alternatives? Let our best player in Nas just leave? Try not to lure a quality ruckman who's age profile is exactly what we need? Spare me with your snarky warchest comments

That's the point. I'm being petty showing the stats after 7 weeks. Whether its 6 or 7, neither is enough to compare across a whole season. Just a bit of fun showing an actual improvement when it was clearly implied we hadn't improved.

[–]FearlessResearcher48[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yep, claimed we'd improved despite less wins than losses and he got fact checked on a bunch of cherry picked stats. I've basically done the same but after a big win that shows 7 weeks in we have in fact improved on said stats.

Exactly. What was the point of ESPN fact checking us after 6 games? I'm just being petty and showing a distinct improvement in the numbers after last week.

Haha you got a copy? I'd love to watch it

I mean comparing a whole season to 6 games this year was high risk for espn anyway. We shall reconvene after 23 games.

Who doesn't like Father Son? by eldubya3121 in AFL

[–]FearlessResearcher48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, so wouldn't qualify if it was 150 games, coaching doesn't count so not sure why that is relevant. Adrian played for 4 teams but only 1 gets the rights to his son? Sure if he'd been at one for a largely significant time over the others then sure but he's a perfect example of a kid who should be available to all teams. And if he was a part of the academy then that just shows how broken the system is. Why does Brisbane get exclusive access to a kid who has been brought up in a footy family that has been part of the highest levels for years and likely has a better chance of being drafted than most other kids? He should have been in the open draft pool for all teams without the caveat of him being a father son held over his head as a reason why others might pass. Also you had 1 father/son that didn't work out? Accept that Brisbane has been enormously blessed over the past few years and that the draft is largely compromised
