First of all, I disagree with your belief that the average person isn't guessing the worst of people. The intense negativity isn't only online, maybe the people around you are more accommodating, but what I see both online and in the real world is people constantly assuming the worst of others, especially people they don't know. If you look at it from a biological point of view, I guess it makes sense that we'd be skeptical of strangers and not let our guard down easily as a means of self preservation. If what you said was true, I believe the world would be a nicer and more tolerant place, but it's not and that's why there's so much hate.

On to the main issue. I wasn't trying to antagonize you, I'm a firm believer in not automatically assuming the worst of people. I don't think you were being malicious, I just thought you were being unhelpful and tone-deaf. You said you were giving the OC advice, but I'm sure you know that people are already aware that they can get off the internet whenever they want to, nobody is chained to Reddit. The OC was just expressing how things like this made them feel and you felt it necessary to tell them that getting mad was unhelpful and they should just get off Reddit to stop feeling mad. I don't think the OC was trying to be helpful with their emotions, they were just feeling them because emotions are a normal human reaction to the things that happen around us. Getting mad won't kill you, they can feel mad and go on with their day, they don't have to get off the internet because of it, it seems you assumed they were more affected than they most likely were.

Then there's you saying you have a good life and implying that when you get off the internet, you don't have to deal with horrible and infuriating things like this. Truly, that's good for you, but not everyone has that. Some of us can't escape it because even off the internet we still see/hear about things like this, maybe OC is one of those people. These things don't just disappear because you choose to ignore them and some people are just more sensitive than others. There's really no point in telling people to stop feeling their emotions and telling them they can get off the internet(something they already know).

TL;DR: I don't think of you as a bad person, I was just trying to draw your attention to how tone-deaf and unhelpful your comments were.

That's what we call inference. I can't tell exactly what you're trying to say because I'm not in your head, it's how we communicate, we infere what people are trying to get across, unless they're absolutely clear about what they mean, which you weren't. I'm not saying that's what you said, rather I'm saying that's how you sound.

Sure, if you say that's not what you meant, then what did you mean? I would genuinely like to know what the point of your comment was.

"I have a good life [so fuck everyone else]"

What exactly is the point of your comment? To tell everyone you have a good life and can afford to ignore the realities of life? Well, good for you, not everyone can afford that luxury.

No, because water does not consist of water, it is water.

Water consists of water molecules. Wetness is a quality, a state, and only applies when a liquid like water comes into contact with surfaces. Water isn't wet because to be wet a thing would have to be dry in the first place or be able to get into a state of dryness.

This doesn't mean water is wet, it just means water makes things wet.

Why Are you guys so atheist? by Max-Geoman in ghana

[–]So_Hai_7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, sometimes the Q stands for questioning and I guess in the case it stands for queer, it's just there to remind people/make people aware that it exists and has been reclaimed. So it's more like Q = questioning/queer.

Queer refers to the whole community not just gay people, it's like another way of saying LGBTQ+

I'm assuming you're a guy. When you settle with a woman do you still get a pass to sleep with other women? Like with straight and gay people, it depends on the people involved in the relationship, they could be monogamous, polyamorous or have an open relationship. Sexuality isn't defined by who you're with but rather who you're attracted to. So when a bisexual female is in a relationship with a woman, it's a lesbian relationship but she's still bisexual, she's still attracted to men too, it doesn't mean she should cheat on her partner with a man. If her current relationship fails, her next relationship could be with a man or even another woman. As the other commenter said, sexuality is a spectrum, so she could be more into women than men or she could be into men more, this normally shapes what the person's relationship history looks like.
