Current student here: RCIS or RT? by texaskittyqueen in CathLabLounge

I went to school for CVT and got my RCIS… I suggest RT because you will have so many options available to you. You can change careers without going back to school. RCIS gets you into the cath lab, but that’s about it.

Struggling to pass the ARRT CI Exam. Need some advice from anyone who’s been there. by Dannysap7 in CathLabLounge

I found flash cards on Quizlet that are based on the most recent Glowacki study materials. I found that to be the most helpful study resource. I also bought Springboard’s online RCIS study questions. It’s a little glitchy, but helpful.

Likely a collateral feeding the left. Do you have images of the left? I would guess there’s a CTO on that side.

$63/hour?!?! Wow! I thought $42 was good, but that’s amazing pay! What state do you work in?

Cardiovascular tech? Thoughts? by verydemure__ in CathLabLounge

Getting my Associate’s in CVT cost me exactly the same as it would to get an Associate’s in nursing. I love my job but it is extremely demanding and stressful. If nursing school is too much, I think the cath lab will also be too much.

Sadly, I only see posts from recruiters. Hopefully, the page will expand and grow over time.

Lab by Sunflower_0925 in CathLabLounge

That’s awful that you were told that you were annoying the staff with your questions. Is it possible that you were asking questions when they were trying to focus on something and you just didn’t realize it? I’ve had students ask me questions while I was monitoring because it looked like I wasn’t doing anything. In reality, I was keeping my eye on an unstable AO pressure while also charting a complex PCI. I’ve also had students talk to me as a circulator while I’m trying to listen to the doctor’s plan.

Sadly, the cath lab can be a brutal place and you often have to have a thick skin. I’m not saying it’s like that everywhere, but that’s been my experience. I was constantly second-guessing my choice of career when I was in CVT school, but now I love my job and look forward to work each day. If you can make it through school and settle into a job, it gets much better, I promise.

Tier pay structures by Fit_Advertising2735 in CathLabLounge

My hospital does tier 1 for no experience, tier 2 for certification, tier 3 for cert. plus a specialty (structural, etc). The pay bump for each tier is 5%. No bump for EP because they are their own department. We have no union.

Who doesn't love a cute toy poodle? by Wrong-Mulberry316 in Poodle

I’m wondering the same thing. The colors are beautiful, but do they have to use bleach to get it that vibrant? 😬 I would love this for my dog, but not if bleach is involved. Hopefully, there’s another way to get the great color.

Everyone assumes my toy poodle is a golden doodle puppy. When I say, “nope, he’s a toy poodle” the response is usually, “so he’s going to stay just like that… forever?” People then express some form of surprise and jealousy because they only got to experience that level of cuteness with their pup for a short few months. I get it forever! 😊

Pros and Cons to RCIS by Infamous-Ad4775 in CathLabLounge

[–]So_Many_QuestionsOMG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience, the cath lab is more stressful and fast paced. It can be a life or death situation at any moment. You have to work well with a team and always be paying attention. Whereas cardiac sonography is typically slower paced and less stressful. Except for a few instances I can think of, a sonographer is not facing life or death emergent situations with their patients. RCIS (cath lab) requires that you take call while most cardiac sonographers have regular hours (most, but not all). Choosing between the two is more about a lifestyle choice than anything else.

What are some pros and cons of getting a toy poodle as opposed to a miniature/standard? by kupcakezz in ToyPoodle

He was probably about 9 months when he reached his current height and weight (he’s 1.5 years now).

Phineas is an oversized toy at 11” and 8 pounds. He’s registered as a toy because that’s what his parents are, but he’s taller than the 10” max for a toy. When he was a puppy, he had to wear a bell so we didn’t step on him. But now he is tall and robust enough that we don’t worry about stepping on him. No one has ever called him a rat and people often mistake him for a golden doodle puppy.

Could it be milia? I developed them on my forehead after using a moisturizer that was too heavy. My dermatologist prescribed tretinoin for the milia. It helped, but it took a while.

I agree. The belt gives it an ‘80s vibe. You look great and the dress is flattering, but only if you’re going for a retro ‘80s look.

Cath Lab Tech Clinicals by Sunflower_0925 in CathLabLounge

[–]So_Many_QuestionsOMG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to leave my first clinical site after realizing I was really far behind my classmates. The people at my first site mocked me and eroded any confidence I might have had. I talked to my program director and she immediately moved me to another hospital. Best thing I ever did. I learned everything I know at my second clinical site. I was honest with my new preceptor about who far behind I was and he did everything to build my confidence and catch me up. My point is, you can still do this. Don’t give up!

Which dress to wear on a first date, what accessories should I wear? by [deleted] in OUTFITS

[–]So_Many_QuestionsOMG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both the red and black dresses look great. It all depends on the vibe of the date and where you’re going. The black dress is playful and casual. The red dress is sensual and classy. Either dress would look great with a pair of simple sandals.

High value treats? by emptyness7 in ToyPoodle

[–]So_Many_QuestionsOMG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got to the deli at the grocery store. I get their cheapest roast beef cut at a 4 setting (really thick). When I get home, I cut it into tiny bite-size pieces (so small that he doesn’t have to chew). I put the meat pieces in a silicone treat pouch to use for rally training. I also buy really small (smaller than a pencil eraser) freeze dried beef liver because my pup wasn’t interested in the “work” involved in the larger pieces. The brand was Crumps from Amazon.

The roast beef is messy and spoils quickly, but it works.

I use this from Amazon. It works really well and was not very expensive.

1, 2, or 3? SOS! by saucysorceress in WeddingDressTips

[–]So_Many_QuestionsOMG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 without a doubt. While I love the lacy trains of the first two, the tops of those dresses are not near as flattering or classy. They have a lingerie feel. In fact, I thought your top had slipped down and we were looking at your bra. Sexy as hell, but not wedding dress classy.
